Saving a Coffee Cone with TWO major problems!
During the making of this coffee cone, the rim cracked while pulling the handle AND the handle sprung off while drying.
In this video, instead of scrapping the cone in an early stage, I attempt to fix both problems. Watch to see how I do it, and how it went! 🤩🥳👍🏽

Trimming platters
Просмотров 63314 часов назад
When I trim, I change several things: I add a trimming catcher (splash pans are ineffective), I lower my foot pedal (normally up on a block), and I lower my seat. The tools I use are a blue scraper tool and a traditional loop tool. Then I sign my pots with an aluminum nail. #pottery #potteryvideo #trimmingpots #professionalpotter #potterylife #studiopotter #amythepotter

I killed you? We are killing it? These mugs are dead to you? 😂🤷🏻♀️
@@AmyPalatnickno I just think it’s funny
🌟
@@lethal_southpawoh, awesome!
@@vickimarsh7969hey hey!! 🤩🤩🤩
That’s so beautiful
Merçi!
That wooden thing is a rolling pin
Haha but no handles??
I hope Nick and Amy are doing well
Me too 🤩🤷🏻♀️🥰🥳👍🏽
had to use basically the same technique to get frozen loaves of bread dough apart at work today 👍
Interesting!
I had this exact issue with a mug recently and did that trick. Worked PERFECTLY! I was very relieved
Yep! Great trick!
The heys you guys gave each other made me giggle xD hes so supportive
Yeah he da best
I deadass thought this was a pot that you could put a plant in and then when you pour water out of the watering can, it would also water the plant.
Oh very interesting! Lots of pol say make it into a fountain 😍
Why not a chisel to stress the meeting point? Would that do more damage?
Probably. Wood vibration is ideal because it doesn’t damage the glaze. Chisels tend to be the end of pots. But maybe in this case it would work…i’m just so used to my wood technique
This is a great video. You mentioned vinegar. Can you explain what happens when you use vinegar verses water? 😊
I honestly don’t use vinegar very much, but lots of people talk about it as being a better addition to slip than water.
@@AmyPalatnick ok! Very interesting! Thank you
@@janetlarue1231anytime!
hey! I Love youuu❤
Awwww 🥰🙋🏻♀️🙏🏽
Would it be possible in this situation to take a butane torch to the stuck area and heat the glaze, then pull them apart?
Good idea! If it happens again i may try. But these melt at over 2300 degrees, i doubt a torch gets that hot. Do you know?
Not on the lid but on the base. Taking note of this. ❤😂
Works like a charm!!
Do it again on purpose for an amazing fountain, or for under a downspout for some great noise when it rains.
Yeah i do need to make a fountain like this!
I loved pottery in college. I wish I had the space to do it again. I love watching your videos cause I can live a little vicariously.
@@sarahavala6349 great to hear. Do you not have a community studio or college nearby??
@AmyPalatnick Honestly I haven't looked yet, but I think I should. I live near portland, so there should be.
I love the wholesome interaction between you two 😊
We have a load of fun 🤩
Incredibly pretty!!
Aw thank you! 🙏🏽
Great song choice 😊👌
Yeah ❤🥰
Also, make sure to hold the pot low, close to the table so when it falls it doesn’t break!! 👍🏽🤩😎
i love how supportive he is :) garden art!!
Yeah he da best!
This feels like something from The Legend of Zelda. Love it ❤
Oooooh 🎉
That milky glaze really looks nice over the blue.
It’s actually the same glaze (i think! Gotta go back and watch the vid)
Beautiful. I love the song too. It always mashed me think of Blast From The Past. "Here's where it really picks up!" 😄
It's so good!
"Butter bells"! Before I knew what they were called I called them tulips. So useful!
Oh i like “tulips”!!!
The right tools for the job really are spectacular to hold!
Totally!
Yay??
Haha yes, yay!
That's the prettiest shade of blue I have ever seen
I know i love it! Limited edition!!
It looks so cool together!
Haha i couldn’t leave it!
Can you fire them again (with some cones under the small pot to catch it?) to help them come apart in kiln?
Not worth it…this time was enough of a risk!!
I think the weight of the smaller pot would break the spout in the refire
What was that glaze pen thing you used? ive never seen one before
Baby snot sucking syringe 😎💯🤩
i would make a small bee or buy a humming bird to stick onto the damage on the pot and display dried flowers in it
Nice idea!
No , izzz pretty
Awww
Kind of weird, but try a massage gun to separate pots!
I can’t even imagine 😂
you could smash it and use the pieces in a mosaic!
I love the watering can as it is but let go of the soap dispenser 🤷🏻♀️
Perfection
Aw not quite! 😆
Me: *expecting the neck of the watering can to break* *it doesn't break * Me: huh... nice.
Haha 😂😂😂
I would take both as is.
Omg
I fancy the both of your personalities 😊 And there's nothing more relatable than being your own worst enemy, and happy accidents. - Yay garden decor! 🤭 Basically what I'm saying is... 👍 ▶SUBSCRIBED. lol
Haha awesome!!! 👏🏽 🙋🏻♀️🙏🏽
This is so beautiful!
Aw thanks janet!
I've always wanted to take a pottery class and make pretty stuff. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Do it!!!
Are you Oregon based?? What beautiful pottery!
Lived in Eugene for 30 years, now in California
Thanks for your posts. Love that black clay. what is it?
Klamath yellow from seattle pottery supply 🎉
Очень красиво. Пойду тоже такую попробую сделать.
Show us!
I think they look cool together
Haha yeah they do but i couldn’t just leave them, it would drive me crazy
9!
Yay! That is my new favorite!
Sweer T!!!😊
Oh yeah!
Why is the clay yellow? I need an after fired too. That is beautiful I’ve never seen yellow clay before. Much love
The clay is called Klamath Yellow, from Seattle pottery supply. The yellow color is from yellow iron oxide. After the bisque, it’s a gorgeous orangey rose 😍😍😍. The body turns a rich reddish brown at cone 6. (Copy/pasted because I get this question so often!) But I don’t recommend it anymore for functional work because it doesn’t vitrify at cone six. I will be transitioning to a new clay body soon-ish. Just check other posts on my page to see it finished!
@@AmyPalatnick thank you! I hope you have a great day!
Just use them as garden decor! You can turn it into a water feature
Yes!!
I honestly thought it was a really cool way to water plants😂 thought it let the water dribble down without as much force
Use a wire saw
Huh?? 🤔
Both pieces are so pretty! I love the flower designs ❤️
Aw, Thank you so much!
This comment was for someone else 🤷🏻♀️😂
