Thank you for sharing this system! As a fellow (2nd year) PhD who has been struggling with overwhelm (large master task lists), and particularly with starting tasks to get into a flow + maintaining good work habits without an imposed schedule, this is immensely useful. I will gladly be trying your system out for dailies when my planner arrives. 🧠🙏🏽 I appreciate how realistic and flexible this is, which is so key for me doing a lab-based PhD where plans can change. Having tried a number of note-taking and organisation systems only to still end up in paralysis, I’m really hoping gamifying my tasks and prioritising on paper using Hobonichi Weeks (master task lists & wellness journaling, in bag) and Cousin (on office desk, in bag only if it becomes a lifeline) will help. 😊 Once again, thank you so much. On a personal note, I feel like this might finally be the answer that solves my year long crisis of 100 post it notes, Google Tasks and Google Cal mess and the daily battle with executive dysfunction. I suspect I have undiagnosed ADHD which has gone under the radar through strong support systems until I entered grad school… any tool to save me is so appreciated!

There are hobo fb groups that have a lot of great ideas for the use of the little bags. You are not the only one that struggles to find effective uses, but there are a lot of creative ideas. One user cut front & back glued it in her planner as a pocket, love this idea! (I can’t find her post to credit). I’ve read everything from snack sack to trash bag for deco, gift bag, sticker/deco tote.

Cousin newbie; been ‘mapping’ out best layouts. This definitely works and am so glad you shared! I’m more than curious how you set up weeks and months as well as utilize the other additional pages, monthly index pages, etc. included in the cousin.

I didn’t qualify for the gift with purchase this year, but I’d use the little bag for scrap/trash while journaling/planning. Empty it out, then tuck in pouch, tote , etc 🤷🏼‍♀️ TFS 📚

It’s interesting and useful to watch other people’s ideas, because then it may give you ideas. I saw that Liberty fabric in a video of someone at a Loft thumbing through covers, and thought it looked so pretty, nice choice! Haha, please don’t say anything about all the lovely ASMR wrapper crackling, I love it!

I put all the small hobonichi accessories in my little bag, along with the year pen collection on the sides. So the bag sits on my desk. Some people have put a small piece of cutout paperboard on the bottom to make it more sturdy as a pen cup. I love the yellow and green one, but I was not lucky to get it. I got the sushi one that I am giving to a friend, and the pretzel one. Neither were on my hope I get it list, but the pretzel one won me over as i filled it with my little accessories, like deco rush, double stick tape, the anywhere pockets, maybe the little photo books will fit nicely. I may try that out.

You are literally the reason I was able to get through actually using my first Hobonichi this year because of your planning video! First planner I've used and haven't missed a month. Your method helped me plan and get through my wedding. Thank you for your content!
