You're located in WA state? Is it possible to get a type 54 for personal use? Assuming I have the land to use them in and the storage req.
Can it be a metal shed?
Can you buy 8 inch shells with type 54 license? I think they are now 1.1g and maybe require a new license?
Can this be stored inside of an attached garage?
Would you care to share the log sheets you made?
Can you please help me find a bigger storage unit like perhaps the size of a big shed that will pass the inspection. I need it to big enough to hold at least 40 different firework boxes 📦 if there’s anything like cheap on Amazon I can purchase. Thank you.
Thanks for this video. it was very informative for someone like me looking to get my Type 54 license. SUBSCRIBED and will definitely check out your other videos.... Thanks again.
What size storage shed are you using outside? and what kind is the shed made out of?
Since the Number 17 Master Lock has been discontinued, the model 25 will also work. Just be sure to get the right length shackle. It has a 3/8" diameter shackle and 5 tumblers as required.
Do u have a link to the spead sheet you use
Hey man I live in Michigan as well and I would love to talk to you about getting my type 54 and magazine
Do u have to have a storage magazine before the ATF will approve you for the license or can you still be approved even without a storage magazine
I believe you already have to have an approved storage magazine before they will approve you. I'm currently trying to find the answer in the orange book.
I know this video is long time ago but if u can help me lmk I’m also from MI
Still haven’t been able to find distances for storage in a type 2 indoors. I’ve heard there is no distance requirement but don’t know if this is true?
Hello again! I have another question, and I'm probably thinking the answer is no... but I'll ask anyway. I live in a neighborhood with an HOA, so homes are everywhere around me, and unfortunately, I don't think that I would ever be able to have a storage magazine like this on my property or in my garage.. What if I have a friend with property? Do you think that I would be able to build a secure location on property that isn't mine, where only I would have access to it? Just curious on your thoughts and thanks again!
Very good question. I'm in the same boat. I'm currently reading through the orange book for the answer...just from watching other videos, I believe you would have to present a contingency letter from a fireworks manufacturer, dealer, seller.
If you get a license to make display fireworks can the ATF come search your house anytime they want? Because I know they can come to your house if you get a stamp to possess full auto guns and suppressors
That’s not true. NFA firearms are NOT a valid reason for ATF inspections unless you are a dealer, manufacturer, or importer FFL licensee. If you’re just someone buying them for yourself, there’s no inspection. Source: I’m a retired Type 09 / Class III FFL/SOT. Can’t speak for the explosives end of things. But in the firearms end, you’re good to go without inspections unless you go into business.
Some inspectors are approving them as-is since they're already powder coated. Did you get direction from an inspector to put the bed liner on, or was it just something you did?
That’s awesome great video. Only problem is (maybe not at the time this video was made) rigid has stickers all over the inside of their new black boxes that state “do not remove” and warning against storage of flammable a and explosives, and it’s also the first warning listed on the instructions. I know this because I just bought one. Now I’m not sure if that affects how ATF sees it, seeing as it still meets all of the requirements, but the manufacturer definitely doesn’t want you doing it. Something to look into. Stay safe!
ATF will Approve of the RIGID JOB BOX.
Where are you in michigan?
Would u be willing to share copies of both log sheets don't have a way right now to design any
how are you legally able to get an m80?
Can u do a 32 inch ridge box?
I'm wondering if I should do the 32" or the 48"?
@@RedOne91 had to be 48
Really? The ATF won’t pass the 32” version? My shed is a bit tiny and I really can’t fit the 48”. Was hoping to get the 32” version.
Hello and thanks for sharing this great info! I am at the beginning stages of applying for my type 54 license. I was searching around, trying to find a place that I could use for contingency storage and was not very successful. Also, I was told by one pyro company that, even with the ATF type 54 license, you are still not able to transport 1.3 pyro, because its a DOT thing and not an ATF thing. I would like to believe that the Federal ATF license, would supersede the DOT laws, or at least qualify you as a responsible person, who can legally transport 1.3 pyro. If you could clear this up for me, or point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
Hey Curtis, I've actually had this conversation very recently with the ATF during my last inspection. If you are not in the business for profit and not in commerce, then you do NOT need a CDL with a placarded vehicle to transport 1.3g fireworks. I had a relative who applied for a type 54 license and someone told him that crap as well. So if you are a backyard type of shooter and only doing it for the hobby, then you can legally transport them right in your car.
@@Technito20 Thank you very much!!
I just read the manual on these and it says not to store gas, gun powder or munitions any flammables inside. Is this just a blanket safety thing or is there a higher chance for whatever reason?
Sparks. That’s why he’s using the Truck Bed liner.
What thickness did you put for the metal on your magazine information
What is the thickness of the metal on the box? I am doing the exact same thing as you. Currently filling out my magazine info as we speak.
Did your inspector say anything about flammable materials (gas, oil, etc.) and parking of motor vehicles or engines (lawn mowers, cars, weed eaters, etc.) in the building that contains the Type 4 magazine? I just watched a video on YT and the creator of the video said, in the comments, that no flammables or vehicles could be parked in the building, like a garage. I asked if that was a state law, as he said it as a blanket statement as if it was from the ATF. He hasn't responded, but I'm hoping to get clarification today before I unload and mount my box in shed versus garage. I can't find anything in my ATF book regarding flammables near INDOOR magazines, only outdoor (§555.215 Housekeeping.) Thanks for your videos, I bought the same RIDGID box yesterday and bought some spray-on truck bed liner. 👍 Here is the video I was referencing: ruclips.net/video/T78DEaSz3Yc/видео.html
I had no idea you could use something as small as this to store fireworks.... Thats a game changer haha
No more videos bud ? I’m really wanting to get started and seeing you start from scratch has motivated me not sure this will even be possible for me without prior firework experience but I’m learning more so great work hope to see a show video soon brotha!!!!
Did you say that the locks were a #17? How much and where as I am having trouble finding them.
How much does that thing weighs?
So I noticed the regulations say it must be fire resistant which usually means insulated metal so they had no problem with just straight-up metal as long as the inside is non-sparking?
Did your pass??
Did you figure out if it will work as outdoor storage?
It does, but it has to be bolted down to something
Does the rigid storage box have to be screwed to the floor with bolts while in the garage?
It needs to be secured so that it is not easily movable.
@@m80vs.8 thank you. Sorry for the late reply. I need to update my notifications. They go into my social folder which isn’t a primary notification so I never know when someone responds
Should u already have a magazine before you apply for the license
Not necessarily but you should have it by the time you have your in person interview and inspection and know what your magazine will be.
Thanks for the reply. I'm in Western NY and the more I read it seems hard to get one without any Shooting experience
Could you have used Flex Seal spray to coat the inside and still meet the requirement?
Material needs to be non sparking. Flex seal might fit the bill
Do you know if the rules and regulations vary from state to state since it's a federal license?
The federal rules do not but some state rules are more strict
Have you recorded any shows yet?
So I'm curious Bout moving the container outside what is your weight limit then? I don't see a weight limit for type 4 outdoor magazines. Also when it come to 1.3 cake is it considered half of the gross weight of the cake also??
Can that also be used as outdoor storage?
No. The requirements for a type 4 outdoor storage are different.
Thanks Brother been wanting to do this going to look into it more and check your other videos out.
Your welcome!
@@m80vs.8 I’m trying store ammonium nitrate, and the area it’s gonna be around 95-103f . Do you think if I add a fan and ventilation , would it help make the box safer or is that not allowed
Thanks for making these videos. Seeing these videos helped me a lot in my own research. Quick question about the sheet you show with the gross weights. A 3" shell shows a gross weight of 0.5 lbs with the ATF considering half that weight. Does that mean one 3" shell only counts as 0.25 lbs towards the 50 lb indoor storage limit? (Just want to be sure I'm understanding that right.) I'd love to see another video with your job box full to see how much fits in there and what the weight is at. Thanks again!
Yes you are correct. With a couple cakes and 3-6" shells the box was full at 50lbs.
This video is awesome man. I’m in Indiana and I’ve been thinking about going through the process for a number of years now. Especially with the fourth being yesterday and seeing how simple you guys make the process sound. I think it’s time I put in the work.
Go for it and be safe!
CAN YOU DO A STEP BY STEP BEGINING TO END ON HOW TO START TO YOUR ATF LICENSE PLS THANK YOU
That would be great
That’s what I really want to see too.
with this type of indoor magazine can the building you use have power in it?
Yes if the power is explosion proof and properly done
Just to clarify , as long as the storage is indoors , it doesn’t matter how far any building is outside of it ??
If the magazine (orange storage container) is indoors; like in a shed or an external garage that is physically not connected to your residence (home or dwelling), the distance doesn't matter. For example, you could have a shed 5 feet away from your house and be fine. Just as long as you don't have your magazine inside your house.
Fynn825 got it , thanks bro , looking to get my type 54 here in California 👍🏻
Jonny Blazee No problem. We’re on the same journey to getting our license. Unfortunately, being 19 I still have to wait 2 years... Here in Arizona you can’t buy anything Ariel related without making a trip to Pahrump Nevada. If you end up getting the license, keep me posted 😃 Best of luck!
Fynn825 thanks bro will do , those 2 years will go buy fast lol
Jonny Blazee let me know how it goes as well. This is something I literally dream about. Having 1.3g fireworks to my name would be amazing. Wish you the best of luck on getting yours!!
They blew the dell out of that computer.
As I look closer, it looks like I have the same lock you do. 17KA. I haven't figured out yet how to get it to lock the box. It is catching the hook to lock. It slips right out when opening.
Try tightening the nuts on the bolt
The lock looks like a No5 Masterlock. If that is the case, it only has a 4 pin tumbler which isn't ATF approved. I originally bought a No5 lock and it worked great except for the number of tumblers. So I ordered the commercial version of that lock with 5 tumblers. Everything looks similar but now it won't lock the box. What could I be doing wrong or should i do differently?
