I don't own or a horse or ever plan on it, but my best friend had them as a kid when we were growing up so I've been around them a bit. She's a beautiful mustang and it's always nice to see people who showcase what they CAN become with the right home and their forever person. It makes me wish more people, with the correct training skills or can work with a good trainer, would look into adopting them since so many of them are still stuck in holding pens waiting for possible adopters. Edit: I don't want to insult anyone who does adopt and might end up over their heads. I've watched far too many rescue channels where mustangs get passed around because the people weren't up to giving what these amazing animals needed in terms of their training.

You did very well! I can see she is trusting you a lot at this point! You were calm but persistent and the baby steps were exactly the right thing instead of panicing and running out backwards! (Trust!) After a while you don´t need all this different words bc your body language is telling her the same and she gets to know you a 100 %! A later trailer with a ramp is again something new you may get "problems" with! But I´m sure, you are managing this the same great way like this! Don´t worry that you are not a professionel! Well done, you are doing great!

Say step instead. That may come in handy for something.

I haven’t read the other comments but I don’t think the expression on her face is bad at all. I am sure you have a much better view from your point but her ears were curious and relaxed. She stood still for this and she seemed to enjoy the “feel” of the comb. You’re giving her free will and doing this all at liberty and she is choosing to stand with you. Great job!

I remember her I saw her on there website few months back

I thought I subbed but your channel it just popped up again… so am subbed now 😃 I am old but very involved with horses when 16, horse spooked, fell down into a canal, I was injured enough I never rode again, but horse was fine. I then switched to dog training… this was back before positive training. I clearly remember when I made the switch to positive. I got a book called Play Training Your Dog. Other trainers at the time thought I was absolutely nuts to stop using chain choke collars. I learned clicker maybe 20 years ago, never looked back. Have you read anything by Karen Pryor? She brought clicker from dolphins to dog training. Her book Don’t Shoot The Dog is about general positive reinforcement… not just with dogs. I love her book Reaching the Animal Mind. It’s about positive training of many species. If you have not read these, you might enjoy them.
