Hi, there! Just got my USB-C Airpods Max. I have an HTC USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter. Airpods Max won't seem to work wired mode, at least with these adapters I have. Yours are lighting? I'm finishing some Atmos mixes and got these to test before delivery. I have a 9.1.4, Audient Oria and Pro Tools Ultimate. Use the Sony MDR-MV1 headphones. I think I could integrate them with the Audiomovers Binaural Renderer but just wanted to know id yours are USB-C or lighting and if you know if these's something I could be missing. Thx!

You recent short on recording in Atmos as opposed to just the mixing process... Help me out here as I'm a listener not an engineer; Isn't Atmos is just the addition of 2,4 or 6 ceiling speakers, similar to adding rear and/or side speakers to a stereo system, calling it 5.1 or 7.1 and creating a surround sound mix? Why the spatial name 'Atmos' for 2 added speakers, isn't it more or less just an extension of surround sound mixing? And where are the 7.1 surround sound mixes of all our favorites?

Imagin doing all that work just so people would listen to it on a phone speaker... 🤡

Any advice for a good 11-channel analog bus compressor and EQ? I just switched to an SSL 4k, after decades of being ITB (I don't want to go back, as I can mix in 15 minutes now, instead of several days).

Where is the plugin that removes all the gimmicky panning so I don't piss off my listeners?

I recommend anyone converting their Stereo Logic Pro projects to Atmos is to either print their midi and FX tracks to audio, or Freeze their tracks "pre-fader", which will change the freeze button to be green instead of blue, allowing tracks to be frozen with the plug-ins. In my experience, converting a project with midi instruments and other CPU Intensive plug-ins has been a real hassle, and the Atmos renderer can have a hard time keeping up, even on a powerful M1 Mac, which was one of many reasons I switched switched to Pro Tools. Logic Pro is great for production and songwriting, Pro Tools is great for Atmos mixing after printing stems/tracks of said song. Airpods Max technically doesn't carry lossless!! Even though the Analog signal passes through the cable from wherever, the Max's convert the signal back from analog to digital, to be able to process the Transparency and NC Modes on the fly, ready to go. Definitely higher quality than bluetooth, but still not really lossless (which is probably what you meant). Great video!!

Does the 300's Stereo pair in front also play / add surround sound when watching a movie when added to your arc, 2 gen 3 subs & 2 x 300's rear ? Does all four 300's add the surround sound or does the 300's rear only ?

Atmos music will never take over 2ch Stereo CDs, been around too many years, far too many albums done in 2ch Atmos too many speakers for most homes especially in UK

Thanks for all this info! How many ERAs are you using on your setup? Would you recommend to buy the full SONOS Arc Sound Bar + ERA 300 + Sub Combo?

Atmos is great for movies, end of story. Even the film title song in a cinema only gets the front two stereo speakers. Absolutely no one, apart from the few very rich, will have a atmos listening room. I know some people are trying the hard sell on it but it will not happen for the vast majority of music consumers.

What this demonstration tells me is that most producers haven't a clue what they're doing with reverb, and especially summing multiple tracks with reverb together to create some unnatural sounding space, and will need to rely on the Atmos renderer to sort out what to do with spatial reflections. None of the techniques in the Atmos mix are impossible to do with standard stereo as long as you know what you're doing. Think about the "phantom" center channel effect with stereo speakers when a sound is panned center. You can accomplish this as well with frequency, volume, and phase (time) in any direction, not just center. Atmos gives you higher resolution for this due to the giant speaker array, but you don't need it to accomplish the same effect. I think Atmos is just making many producers realize they've been screwing up time-based effects for far too long.

I don't get it. The Atmos versions just bury the tracks in the mix via volume, panning, and increased reverb reflection tails. It doesn't sound better at all, in fact it sounds more distant and kinda weak to be honest. You also don't need Atmos to do the same thing, you can just push tracks back in the mix and pan them. I want to like Atmos, but I've yet to hear any compelling Atmos mixes that are better than stereo.

Interesting the apple render seems wider than the dolby render....I have noticed a big difference when using the apple iplugin on my sphere 9.1.6 input which is meant let you see how it will sound coming from apple music .... Sounds way different to the dolby Binaurel setting.. Our brains are still not used to the height thing with sound where as front to back is well different... I would say that in 50 years time of spatial audio our hearing is going to change big time.

I wonder if iPhone devices use CPU or DSP to decode Dolby Atmos into binaural. I think it's all used by software decoders, so most likely CPU is used and not DSP to decode Atmos. I may be wrong, this is just an assumption. On Android devices with Dolby Atmos everything is simple and clear. As far as I know, they always have 4 decoders AC3, AC4, EAC3, EAC3 JOC and all are decoded in hardware using the smartphone's DSP. Do Apple devices have the same implementation? It would be very interesting to know, thanks.

If the stereorecording of the guitar is placed in the L and R channel in the Dolby Atmos bed, it shouldn’t sound like it does in your example, or should it?

People who says things sucks and never tried it they suck😁 . I would love to hear you explain the difference on dolby Atmos on speakers and headphones, I do not have the oportunity to use a speaker setup so I use headphones both open and closed + the fancy schmansy airpods max😂, for my ears dolby atmos in headphones don’t give me to much surround like in back front overhead (sometimes it does) it deffently gives me a bigger sound stage,is this right or am I wrong.(btw I use Apple music) I dont know if most of what I wrote is gibberish or understandible😊 Love your videos keep them coming
