    I really regret this purchase, the blooms drop off the same day!!! It's beautiful but I cannot keep up with all the petals messy and not happy. I wish I hadn't bought it. Dug it out, potted it back up and nobody wants it, can't even give it away.

    I am in zone 8b and have 5 these roses. With hardly noticeable fragrance, blooms last for two days only, not shade, heat or drought tolerant, the At Last Rose is a disappointment. I am removing them to make room for David Austin roses.

    If you have aphids, it because your soil is too high in (N) Nitrogen. Roses and Tulips are heavy feeders of (P)phosphorous. Feed them in the spring and again in early August. Nothing in between. Use a rose fertilizer that is not water soluble.

      Thank you SO much ☺️. Glad this video was helpful / informative. I did read ladybugs are a worthwhile option for aphids- wish I had tried it. I did dig up all the roses 6/19/23 as I’m relocating them to a sunnier location at another property many miles away. They’re simply not performing as amazing as I’m sure they can in our tiny garden because it’s too shaded for most of the day. These roses want a lot of sun. I’m wondering how they’ll do with the travel and transplant. Now I’m brainstorming what to plant in their place- a flowering shrub that can handle shade such as the hydrangeas.

      Thank you SO much and yes the at last rose is such a gorgeous rose. I specially love their fresh fragrance. Our garden is looking abandoned these days 😫 But excited to get it looking tidy again now that we removed the at last roses as we are relocating them to another property that is in a sunnier/hotter location. If they survive the travel and transplant I think they’ll perform beautifully there. Unfortunately, in our tiny garden they weren’t as spectacular as they could be due to the lack of sun. Now I’m thinking what to plant in their place that can handle mostly shade. More hydrangeas are a good option, I suppose.

      Thank you SO much ☺️ The At Last Rose is a wonderful, persistent variety as ours have been neglected for much of their time in our garden and they still push new growth every year. Just yesterday I dug all of them up to relocate to a sunnier location miles away from our property. Will see how they withstand the travel and transplant- I’m hopeful. I also pruned them hard / cut a lot of dead out, but the roots look healthy so I’m intrigued to find out if they will still perform after the adventure they’ll be going through. THANK YOU for watching 😊

    • @paolaarletty6525
      @paolaarletty6525 2 года назад

      Hi, thank you for your question. This year we cut off all the dying leaves from the few tulips that actually bloomed. Of the 800+ planted initially, maybe 50 or less bloomed this second season compared to ALL of them blooming the first season as shown in this video. So on May 1st, 2022 we cut back the leaves and attempted to pull out the bulbs at the same time. The bulbs didn’t want to pull up despite wetting the soil to loosen it, prior. But, we are still planning on planting new tulip bulbs and possibly daffodils this fall 2022 in the same spot. Considering the current tulip bulbs barely re-bloomed, I doubt they will interfere with the new ones planted in and around them.

  • @emilove7974

    I enjoy your videos. I’m about to buy tulips for spring 2023, so do they come back?

    • @paolaarletty6525
      @paolaarletty6525 2 года назад

      Hi, thank you so much, I’m very glad to hear this 🙏🏽 Of the over 800 planted, very few actually developed a stem and bloomed. I would say less than a quarter came back. They all did form their leaves but unfortunately they currently look flopped over and lifeless 😩 I was shocked to see this as I was expecting a strong comeback. Only like 5 Akebono tulips (yellow ones) came back. Not a single pink and purple showed up and the white tulips are visible here and there. I assume many environmental factors contributed to this outcome, but it also has to do with our area probably not yielding re-blooming tulips? Could also simply be the variety we chose, as some tulips are known to be stronger than others. We will be removing all the bulbs from the ground sometime in May 2022 and starting fresh with new bulbs in the fall. Happy bulb planting 🌷

      Thank you so much ☺️ it really does look dreamy. But in hindsight, I almost wish I didn’t plant as many because they shrouded our “At Last” rose shrubs also planted there and prevented them from proper air circulation. This caused a horrible bug infestation on the poor shrubs. This year, the tulips have broken ground already and it looks like every single one came up. We are thinking to maybe 🤔 pull out a few to allow the also sprouting rose shrubs to breathe. Wouldn’t like to deal with treating them for bugs this years, too. Thank you for watching!!
