watched lots of these videos so far, very nice job. Wish you were closer
Only one thing you need to do different. Instead of cutting it 16", measure it all out for 16" then cut it at 14" instead. This allows you to cut right on the seam of the front corners. Once you do that you can trace the longer bedside you cut at 14" instead of 16" down the inside and you can cut it to math the corner perfect. It has a little bit of curve in the weld when you put it back together making it less susceptible to warping plus it's right on the corner. Works great
We looked into doing that but the way we do it works well for our shop.
Thanks for sharing a great video
It kills me every time I see somebody take a long bed and destroy it.
I drove over 6 hours to take my 77 for him to do. I was not disappointed. I highly recommend him.
How much did it cost?
Nice job
Wow bro u R really good GOD blessed
As a retired welder, that is a beautiful job of welding and plating the frame, I like the oval plate with plug welds as a frame reinforcement!!!
how much would this job go for?
i have a 1972 f100 its a long bed might want it short bed i am in Nashville
We would be glad to help
Could you briefly tell me how you shortened the bed itself, or point me to a link if you did video the modification of the bed itself? It appears you took everything from cutting the front and back? 1 cut, 1 welding seem? I'd really appreciate it
Amazing work , you’re so fast and skilled man , and thank you for sharing all the info , I’ve got the 67-72 Bumpside Broncos made in Brazil 🇧🇷 I love the 67-72 as well as my favourite trucks . All the best from Kangaroo 🦘 Island 🏝️ South Australia 🇦🇺
How much to do this to an 86 f150
We haven’t done an ‘86. If you will contact us over the phone then we will talk price. We do not discuss over social media due to privacy
Clean work
What would the cost to have this done in your shop?
For ‘73-‘79 it is $2,200
I'm sorry, but could you please explain the cutting of the inside of the bed better? From the way I understand it you measured 16" from the front of the bed. Then you lost me on how you measured and cut the rest.
I cover this better on our TikTok page, @tinmancustomsnc
If you don’t care about the stake pockets it would be even easier. Pretty much do a straight cut just up at the front. If you’re like me and don’t care about the 4” in the rear it gets even easier still.
How much would a job like this run me? I have 94 Ford long bed
Awesome video! What landmarks did you use as a starting point for the inside bedside? Preserving the notched-out portion for the filler neck?
You can’t preserve the notched out portion because you can’t use that tank, there isn’t enough room. I decide to cut wherever it appears it will all line back up with our the bump. If you have to or want to put the bump back in then you will have to cut out for it after you splice the bedside back together.
Where you from?
I'm about to cut My long bed and this is SO helpfull thanks man
That’s why we put these videos out
I just bought a 78 F150 Ranger Lariat which I am thinking about making a short bed. Are you able to let me know roughly ( estimate - sight unseen of course ) how much such a job costs? I am in PA but would send truck down there somehow.
Question What's the cost for that type of job
$2,000 out the door.
Nice am excited where you located
How is your Schedule
We are located in Valdese, North Carolina and we will have to go over our schedule to be sure when we could get it in. We usually have clients bring the truck in to drop off and at this point it will be the end of August to the middle of September to have it worked in.
That sounds good. I just have to find a way to get the truck over where you are.
I prefer a long edition but I totally agree with your method of cutting. I have being welding of one sort or another for half my working life and z cuts are always stronger.
Awesome work man
Question for ya? Why did you cut the mid section of the frame 12” and 4” in back and 16” and 4” in the bed ? Am I missing something?
Have you done a dentside? I’m about to get started shortening the bed by 16”, just can’t seem to get the perfect mark ups on the inner and outer bed sides yet. Not gonna cut until I’m 100% certain I have everything where I want it
How many inches are cut off the driveshaft? 16” as well?
Yes, 16”
Thankyou!
Great job my friend!!! Like your channel
Some of the other videos show shortening rear of bed????
Certain year models require we cut front and back and others only the front and that can change between makes as well.
I dont get this at all..... Long beds are the shit..!!
Is there videos on making a shortbed-stepside into a longbed srepside
Where are you located? Looking at doing my 68
We’re located in Drexel, North Carolina, we are right off of i40.

Thanks for the kind words and glad to help.
awesome video. hope your channel takes off
Great job! 👍 Wish you was closer to WV!!
I have a stupid question. Can I get a short bed and just cut my frame to fit it? Or is frame on the short bed truck and long bed truck to much of a difference to swap the beds. One reason I can't just cut my bed is it's gone so I need to buy a bed and if I can just buy a short one that'll save me a step but if not I'll do the cutting and all Thanks
There’s no such thing as stupid questions. It should fit just fine as long as you do your measurements correctly.
Nice job!
What's the price for the whole conversion
We charge $2,500 for the 1967-1972 Ford pickups
Great job where are you located

Welding without a helmet?
I cant thank you enough for these videos! Im about to cut down my ‘74 F-100 and would have made a tremendous amount of extra welding and cussing without seeing what U did correctly. I have had a VERY hard time finding much info on the 73-79 frames especially with the width issues. If I’m ever in your area, I owe you a handshake and a beer, at the least! Love your videos and your comprehensive teaching! Please keep’em coming brother!
Beautiful job of reinforcing, I have seen it done with just fishplates inside the frame. I know a group of truck enthusiasts doing their trucks that way and worked well. I guess each to their own as to how much you want to reinforce it
When dealing with customers, we like to go above and beyond. We also do it this way so the customer won’t try to sell it as all original to someone else without them knowing the frame has been heavily modified.
