The expression is "I use Arch btw", not "I didn't use archinstall btw" 😆 The manual install is awesome to learn many things about Linux and its installation. But it's also totally fine to use archinstall and just enjoy the rolling release aspect of Arch as well as the AUR.

I use Fedora. I recommend users first try Makulu or Zorin OS where then fast can try some types of desktop environments. Also checking up wayland. Now I am chosing Gnome there fore I use Fedora wich is providing a very up to date system.

I've recently switched to EndeavourOS, arch-based distro, because of the AI shenanigans M$ is doing to Windows. I've had trouble running FL Studio as its Windows and Mac only software. It did run through WINE, but the performance was kinda odd. Low framerate (which I didn't know was possible for FL), window flickering and other small issues. I had an idea that I could run it through Proton and of course somebody already thought of that too. I found umu-launcher which takes the installed Proton through Steam and basically does what WINE does, but it feels better imo. The performance is better and although there are some flickering issues here and there, they have a simple workaround that works well.

I've gotten Affinity to "work" on my Linux machine under Bottles. But it's only in the broadest possible sense. No saving files, runs at a low refresh rate, screen constantly flickers black... sadly we are stuck with GIMP on Linux.

gaming on linux can use PROTON from steam and once you set it up in the steam setting you can play alot of windows games with no issues

ive been using arch for about 4 years, when you said your first archinstall failed, in my experience sometimes the archinstall script just fucks up for no reason depending on what configuration you select.

Not neccecary, but Cachyos repos can also be used with Arch, so you get some benefits of CachyOS without having to use the distro. You should also use some sort of program to manage power profiles/usage. TLP is the most common, but I use auto-cpufreq + Thermald. There are some really nice Hyprland dotfiles you can use. I use Hyprdots by prasanthrangan. I also wish Affinity would work on Linux. It would make image editing so much better for anyone who isn't used to Gimp.

as a arch user i installed the harder way and for beginners you can use archinstall but one benefit of installing arch the hard way is knowing many commands and understanding how the system works.i recommend arch install for Linux beginners and learning the system afterwards

I never got Davinci Resolve or Affinity Photo to work on Arch. Recently switched to Fedora (big recommend) and got it working thanks to this tutorial: ruclips.net/video/DiTkPvL_2vk/видео.html I also had to install Lutris and Steam for it to work, but now it runs *almost* flawlessly. There are some GNOME-related bugs when switching workspaces, but it runs very well.

The difference between MS VS Code and the open-source versions (VS Codium or something) is that a lot of extensions are only available in the former.

for the sudo problem: chmod +w /etc/sudoers -> as root go to the line how said: # %wheel ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL the most prob it's commented discommented save chmod -w /etc/sudoers -> as root and done now you have access to the sudoers group :D

also, dualbooting is pretty easy. after ur first install without arch install scripts, its morally acceptable to use them, so just free up some space in windows, fdisk ur drive in archiso, create 2 paritions, one for /boot, and another for /, then archinstall, manual partiton, and set /boot to fat32 and / to /, and assign their mountpoints to /boot and /. then just do the rest of install process. idk if this was mentioned in the video, im just yapping now cuz im super sleepy and idk what im doing. sorry if this comment is gibberish

arch isn't the hardest, its probably gentoo, bedrock linux, linux LFS, or something like that.
