They all run on cycles so they will disappear after a while if not recommended. If they fall within your settings for stars but are ruled out of other reasons such as cost or contract then that is probably what is happening. Best thing to do is as soon as you see them within "in Progress" just manually scout them and then they are in the scouting cycle.

I use a mouse and click and to select multiple you hold down control or if they are in a row you hold down shift

I pretty much follow the setup SYC puts together in this video ruclips.net/video/ZgCSDVbl1pE/видео.htmlsi=kalhgGcZlmMDq6xW I don’t load a lot of leagues to keep the speed high but this method loads about 110,000 players so it will be much more effective than just loading your league and putting large DB. As to the first bit, there’s probably some mechanics to make you scouts level, costs, travel and reputation matter but the 3rd update seemed to mess with those and reduced its effectiveness. It now seems to have a window of usefulness between seasons 3 and 10 but after that if you get really good it’s hard for it to keep up.

Not sure. If you’ve removed the r- and checked all the coding either side of it then if could be that you have conflicting config files as FM can only cope with one config file for the Regen faces so if you’ve been using a main file and then made a second file you have to make sure when you copy across the second set that they don’t already have numbers in the first set (they shouldn’t really). Outside of that I’m not sure really. I just hope it’s less of a mess in FM25

Problem is. What could they change that wouldn’t cause outrage and panic? What can they actually add. I hear so many say “this needs to be better” but never offering how to visually do it or code it. They’ve had to grow the game to get the funds to make the engine jump. Just be careful what you wish for if you want a radical change.

But I also have the feeling that people will say "it cannot be done, it shouldn't be done", until someone actually does it, and then that becomes the new standard immediately and we'll look back on how silly we were to expect so little for so long (I'm culpable too). One day hopefully someone will create a real competitor to FM (there are some manager games out there with some good ideas), and bring something new to the genre.

There’s a lot of rivals to it. It’s just that they’re all rubbish and pander to the browser based, app based, phone driven generation. They could have the same depth for all I know but the user interface, replicable on internet and battery life and the number of menus to get anywhere means they can’t get close. I do agree FM is like many of the EA franchises area where there are no clear rivals because the barrier to entry and success is ridiculously high and it has allowed them to rest on their laurels. And by that I don’t mean work less hard and be less creative, I mean having the ambition and plans to employ more people to be able to expand on more. Hopefully the console boom and the hype for FM25 gives them a platform to develop quicker. I just know it they have to still be sustainable and the last thing anyone wants is then going big for something and getting it wrong and the end of FM. If I were a Regen I’d fully have Realist as my character trait!

Full disclosure. My first FM was 12 and I wasn’t fully into it until 20 so I will have a lot of recency bias in my views but I’m trying to at least offer a viewpoint that isn’t the usual “bash SI, it’s terrible, they’re lazy” narrative which l helps nobody.

Well they said when they announced it in 2024 that porting would be a thing between 24 and 25 so if they reverse it that’s not going to go down well.

So when I set the game up at the beginning I use a large database and load up continental rep players across 3 continents I think. Look for the video SecondYellowCard made on how he sets up his databases as it mirrors that. I means you only need the league you’re in turned on technically but if your save has started it can’t be retroactively filled with more players.

Yeah. You need a heavy Regen pool for it to be effective. Third year it will be way better

Recruitment foucses we’re intended more for that purpose by setting the position and stats you want but the most useful feature is setting the cost limit I think. It’s less effective than just sending the scouts out and listening to agent offers for ready made players but you can use the method I use but set the minimum stars to 2.5 and the max age to an age you’re happy with.

A hybrid would probably be best to capture everything but at the time I basically did this on its own. Best way of scouting is having a mix of methods. If you have a mix of scouts the age and reset gets the most results if you’re willing to put in the work.

So would you do a load of age and reset and then assign a specific scout for that? Say you might set up 2 of the same assignments maybe for 17 year olds and then assign 2 different scouts to them assignments?

I tend to pick scouts based on ability and then focus on their countries of most knowledge and do the youth and reset but early on I did 2 scouts per age and covered many countries and kept resetting. 15, 16, 17, 18 so that’s 8 scouts and then with the 2 spares do some overall 15-18 as they should get different results again whether you pick nations or not. Nation selection is totally optional. If you pick ones with high youth rating it’s probably very effective but the costs may be higher or you can hit specifics looking for a gem but I like leaving them wide and getting a mix. It’s pretty flexible to be honest. Best thing to do is try it out for a window and see if it works for you.

Then just concentrate on CA rather than PA and pay more attention to your budget and set that in the extras as they will be harder to find. Depends what situation your club is in.

I do yes. You can tweak it and work it better by taking control but it takes time and I don’t tend to bother to save time as with it delegated I still get good results.

I’ll have a look in a bit but I’m not sure if it can cope with those scout grades. If it is there it’ll be in the additional values where in added transfer value but under scouting possibly. I think the stars may be all you can go on.

Update, i downloaded and imported the Sas24 skin and now i have the customize available :)

What is it showing? You may have to take a copy of your config file somewhere outside the FM folder and then rerun the newgan. Also maybe worth finding the ID for a player you think should be silhouetted and search for it in the config in case.

So long as you can save it as the right file type it should be fine

It should work at all levels although it may lose a bit of effectiveness at the highest level. It’s most effective a few seasons in as the new gen players start spawning but it is still handy from year 1. Best advice I can give would be to ignore the constant resetting at the start and just let it cycle every 7 weeks and keep an eye on it and after a while, decide if you want to ramp it up or not.

Yeah I think you’ve pretty much got the best method there. When it comes to the star settings really the one that matters is the CA which I think 5 silver stars is the right number to make sure they capture the best players. The PA limit doesn’t matter if you are using the in progress tab. Scout placement, just let them roam but the countries you have will have the best youth rating so should get the most results.

They tend to be so busy doing what they do they often don’t even do newgan for their newgens until a long time has passed. I just like having no blank faces

There might be a v3 but it won’t be anytime soon as life and work have got in the way so I’ve had no time to test my theories and essentially break whatever is stalling it. I do think a lot of it is if it “has been working” then your comparison point is much higher so you Will naturally get lesser results as you already hold some of the aces.

They do work alongside each other but it’s just natural that the more players are in the bank the longer it takes to get through them. It’s why the key thing with the method is as soon as you see it, shortlist the good ones and then delete the focus and rebuild it so they don’t waste time reviewing the rubbish. It’s probably worth at this point checking which scouts are doing what as the game has a habit of prioritising the best scouts to do all the work when you want everyone to be working.

The better your squad is the worse your results are as it’s hard to improve on five star already. It’s sometimes a sign you’ve maxed out. The money can play a part and they are losing rep.

Work permits post Brexit have made Uk saves much harder now with smaller teams. You pretty much have to put a filter on that say “work permit IS NOT would likely to fail to fail to gain a work permit” and filter from that field. Loans are harder to get but if the league is loaded (even as view only) they are more likely to happen. You can load leagues mid game, it does slow your game speed down as it has more data to process but that’s why you get more transfer options.

Ah that's a shame, guess it's a case of waiting until Im established in the Championship/prem and have risen my rep a bit in order to get more likely candidates and find those cheap cheap gems! Shame you can no longer farm them out to foreign top leagues to gain their WPs quickly anymore. Thanks for the response! @@ironowlfm

The game defaults to that but in reality it should be picking best available without a focus. Technically scouts can have multiple focuses so that’s why the tick in the box about not showing other results is crucial. Best to set the scout manually if there’s a lot of repeats. Analyst really shouldn’t matter but I find if you spread it out the results do come faster.

The star starting for threshold shouldn’t make a difference until they monitor them. Narrowing to countries and regions does have a habit of driving away results. Make the search broader and then narrow back in later and it might play ball again. Or assign a scout who knows the region but don’t select the region and weed it out. If you’re in a save where you want a specific region only then maybe assign multiple scouts to the one focus.

@ironowlfm yeah I've tried most of that tbh and scouted just continents etc or searched for world wide. I'll try the multiple scouts one on the same search. After doing some research I have seen on the SI thread that other people are having issues but I've not seen any youtubers talk about it or have any issues even when I set up the same searches. Seems a bit strange and is sort of ruining the game for me at the minute

It seems very save dependant how much it’s affected people but it’s definitely been broken in a lot of saves. It’s still fine on my save and I haven’t been able to replicate the issues but I know it’s happened to a lot of people and I’m afraid it’s a bug. My only remaining suggestion is to cancel every single focus you have going, give it a week with none going. Then make new ones from scratch without using complete ones.

This works “best” on world but it does still get results on very minimal resources. On the first video I was getting decent players in NLN with Scunthorpe but you need to have enough scouts and at least a package of some sorts for it to work. May need a few cycles but it should still work.

@@ironowlfm I finally got the staff done as well amd also figured out face for any player who dosnt have a face in game .the cutout face packs don't cover all the players . The way I did it now all the 200k players in my DB have faces now. You should do a video about this .no one else have a video about this at all

It’s one of those where it takes a bit of work and with bigger and bigger face packs it’s only really the newgens that need it. Most people don’t really see staff members photos enough to care so while it’s be good for say 100 people, it’s probably not going to be rewarding for the time it would take to record since time is my enemy right now. Out of interest, did you manage to do it with the method in this video but using the staff filter that came with one of the newgan downloads? That’s how I’ve been doing it (or picking a member as I go along and adding them into the config file manually).

@@ironowlfm I know staff pictures aren't that important for most of us but it's nice to have them . On the other hand having a picture of each and every player in this game is pretty good .not a single player in my 200k + DB is without face picture . For staff .. You have to first divide there pics into same categories that regen packs are divided. Like ..African Asian Mena Mesa etc etc. Than u create a rtf file with creating new manager search and select all staff without using any filter at all . Than u just go ahead and use that rtf file with newgan manager . That's it . Done
