2024 Christmas Eve - Day dive in Shark River (Belmar NJ)
Просмотров 14 тыс.21 день назад
Could be the last dive of the year completing a personal best year with more than 30 New Jersey Dives. After a cold snowy morning the temperture warmed up to the mid 30's with a chilly water temperature of 47F. A few Tog still in the rocks with a few small fish, blennies and juvinile winter flounder. Since most of the fish are gone we spent a lot of time removing sinkers and fishing line. We we...

Просмотров 15 тыс.Месяц назад
On Sunday, December 1, 2024, we met up at Manasquan Inlet, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ for an early morning dive, braving the cold air temperatures in the mid-twenties. The water temperature was a 52°F, with visibility ranging from 7 to 10 feet. Despite the conditions, the 57-minute dive turned out to be quite rewarding. We encountered schools of bait fish weaving through the currents and spotted ...
NJ Wreck Dive on the Delaware - Low Visibility dark dive
Просмотров 9722 месяца назад
This dive took us to the wreck of the Delaware, a Clyde Line steamer that sank in 1898 due to a fire. Originally planning to dive the Mohawk, we had to change course to this alternate site because of rough seas. Surface visibility looked promising, but on the bottom, it dropped to just 1-2 feet, making exploration challenging. Despite the conditions, I spotted a lone butterflyfish, a lobster, a...

On Saturday, October 30, 1890, the schooner Cornelius Hargraves sank approximately 6.5 miles off the coast of Barnegat, NJ, following a collision with the steamer Vizcaya. The wreck now lies at a depth of 80 feet (24 meters). We completed two dives on the wreck, with an unusually good visibility estimated at 50-60 feet (15-18 meters). The water temperature was a comfortable 60°F (16°C). Schools...

My dive buddy and I were diving in Point Pleasant, NJ with a focus on picking up as much garbage and fishing line as we could from the bottom. When we were on our way back to the exit and almost out of air mother nature rewared us with a visit from a sea turtle. With limited air we could only spend a few minutes together but we will remember it forever. A Loggerhead sea turtle at this site is v...

Scuba Diving NJ Point Pleasant - Toadfish and Filefish
I honestly thought the first three would be mounds of garbage in the ocean.
Hey man I wanna get trained to scuba , I’m in northern DE, wanna link up?
After every fish "and we continue to destroy their environment and endanger them because we are city scumbags who can't take care of our garbage"
I've lived in south Jersey most of my life and while I've caught many of these fish I never knew it was a good place to dive. I was used to swimming in murky lagoons as a kid. We would catch tons of baby fish and keep them in our tanks until they grew too big and would release them. We had a lined seahorse in a small tank by himself and he lived for 3 years!

I like this video 😮
I once bought a glass bottle shaped like a pirate ship and filled it with a little bit of Long Branch ocean sand and the water itself and took it home and the water was crystal clear
What a great video! Those seahorses were amazing
I was bummed out to hear that the seahorses are possibly endangered what a shame
@@c.h.u.dI saw they are not doing well based on the loss of habitat. The reefs are their main habitat and they are disappearing. 😔
I knew New Jersey had some unique wildlife that graces their shores. Also, it can be said being that it’s the Atlantic. You kinda get the best of both roads where you get northern ocean creatures as well as the southern ocean creatures however, I always thought of it would’ve been a little too murky to really enjoy seeing wildlife down there. I have a scuba diving license. I haven’t really used it in years being that I live in PA and don’t really have too many connections around here to do scuba diving as well as it expensive but definitely this video inspired me.
I live down the Jersey shore and have vacationed here as I was growing up. My dad and sister were great fishermen and were lucky enough to catch a few of the creatures you showed. My son who lives in New Hampshire has a pet Atlantic Eel that he saved from being bait 11 years ago. I call him my Slimy Grandson, Eli Von Williams. Hes very cute and friendly. I remember finding starfish on the LBI beaches but dont anymore. Glad to see so many in your diving. 😊😊😊
Great video. Thanks!
Do you have a list of best NJ shore diving sites? As a diver from VA I’d love to try sometime
Not yet but maybe this summer. Good Idea!
Very cool - we saw a 12ft Great White in 2011 off Stone Harbor.
Hey boy I’m in Jersey too
L&S -- Grew up in Wildwood, have a place in Cape May but have never dove NJ. I find this rather inspiring.
Why was this actually a goated video
id love to get a dive in with you! I'm jersey local, born and raised!
Do you ever see Chris Kristie breaching the surface?
I am not a diver but I really enjoyed your video I am from New Jersey all my life and it was really cool to see that stuff thank you and I'm a fish keeper so I was really surprised to see some of those fish there
I grew up in Brooklyn, 70s and 80s, and the only place we'd go fishing or crabbing was the Jersey shore. Simply because we wanted to eat our catch and NOT die. 😂😂❤👍👍👍 GREAT times.
I’d love to dive there but I’ll never go anywhere in the states that restricts my 2nd amendment rights. So Florida is diving will have to suffice 😂
Awesome & thanks!
I love this video ! It's so informative and you are brave !
Oh he's brave all right I wouldn't be diving there that's where they got the inspiration for Jaws. I was born and raised in Long Branch and would never scuba around that place
Wow, just a shame it’s in NJ though 😂
You forgot to mention the best part is in New Jersey. We are starting to see less and less of the New York Ranger fish. It usually goes belly up around June and you don’t really see much of them until the colder months. They’re not good for the environment and they cause problems wherever they go. But luckily we’re seeing less and less of them. Great job love the video. Sayreville support you.
Now THAT is how I recall many NJ wreck dives :)
Great video and thanks for the info. I always go tropical and never thought about diving here in the NE. Was this off a boat or did you shore dive?
Great video. Thanks for sharing it.
As many times as I took dive boats out of Shark River, I've never actually dived the inlet itself. While any (safe) dive is a good dive, it doesn't look like I missed that much! :)
Point Pleasant Beach here
Aye yo what exit??
Those are good eating fish they eat them in Florida
Never imagined you could see this in NJ waters. Thank you.
Born and raised in Union county Plainfield New Jersey really go to point pleasant Sandy Hook in Wildwood New Jersey I now live in Richmond Virginia unsubscribing to you now
nice vid, love NJ content
Love the Jersey Shore and ocean
Keep diving where rivers and estuaries drain into the ocean and you will end up meeting a bull shark, Einstein.
I live in KC and the nearest place to dive with half way decent visibility is Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas. This water looks great and I would love to dive there if I lived closer.
Been fishing NJ all my life. Would love to take a dive to see some stuff......
Thank you so much for this video! Great work 😊
You have any mud hole footage with pelagics?
Very cool. In my younger days, I used to dive out of Barnegat Bay. Mainly wreck dives. you should do one all of the interesting wrecks out there.
I have dived in Jamaica while on vacation, but I never imagined the Tropical Fish being in. Ew Jersey?
I never imagined the kind of Sea life that you are showing me!
great vid! always wonder about what's below when running the inlets for fluke and stripers. kids loved the vid too, keep up the good work!
new jersey = nothing
Thanks for your contribution 😂🙄
I had no idea that the water would be that clear.
as a tropical fish lover, i feel sorry for the poor Angel Fish, i'd like to rescue him and take him back to the tropics : (
The fish will head south as the water cools.
@@RalphDeshon9710 I don't think that's true...another video on this subject stated that the gulf stream current is a one way trip...fish can't fight the current south.
This is true. The tropicals don't make it past November.
The Oyster Creek power plant created a tropical reef that few know of.
Dive off cost of Atlantic City you be surprised whats on the bottom.
