Complete Guide to Painting a Webtoon || Pro Tips and Tricks
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.3 года назад
After being asked multiple times how to paint a webcomic, I thought I'd make a start to finish video on how to start the painting process of a panel. This process works for webcomics and illustrations, and again, is my own personal workflow. Use what parts are helpful to you. And yes, this may seem advanced... I realized that after creating it. If you have questions, let me know in the comments...

[The First Day Of My Life] - Speedpaint for Prime 3clipse
Просмотров 633 года назад
Another #speedpaint and #photobash illustration but this time for an older story of mine: Prime3clipse. This concept art comes from the first chapter of the book that I wrote back in college. I wanted to read the book as I did the speedpaints, as I think it'd be super cool, but I don't know any voice actors and it'd be quite a commitment to do the whole book. Maybe someday though. ...I still do...

Heyo! It's #speedpaint time! This week I planned on taking a quieter story moment and maybe letting myself have some more simplicity. And yet, creating that bathroom was the hardest photobash I've done yet! Either way, I think the emotion sinks pretty deeply into the piece and for that, I'm super happy. As always, these illustrations are concept art for our story, and I hope you enjoy the #art ...

    The question is.Can you transfer these webtoon Pages into a traditional Page format at some point? or does it some irreversable damage to the quality or something like this.

    As a DAZ user, it IS refreshing to see how much easier it is to pose in CSP. In truth, with DAZ, I tend to BUY canned poses which usually provide at least a starting point. I was entirely unaware of the direct joint selection (big single dot) and how useful that can be. I can save DAZ figures as FBX and if I bring them in one-by-one, the joints remain adjustable. I just like the much greater anatomical detail with the DAZ figures (after all, that's all the devs DO!), but instead of just making screen shots out of DAZ, I may look more at the posing advantages in CSP. New sub here!

    I found this amazingly helpful. I use magic poser but hopefully i can make this work with it. My poses always looked so lame compared to others and it might’ve been because i never adjusted the spine lol. By the way If you have any poses you have generated and would be fine sharing those i would def find use for it.

    Hi, this is some awesome technique. Quick question: why did you start designing from the sideview instead of at an angle? Seems like it'd be much more helpful to transition to 3D if you draw the head at an angle first.

    for the vector lines, will you be able to color it afterward or do you have to pick which color you want to use from the beginning?

    • @TheGentlemanPanda
      @TheGentlemanPanda Год назад

      You can pick colors and flat an image like normal. The vector lines are special in that they project the line work from the layer above to the one below it as "reference". Then when you use the FILL tool for color, it fills the canvas based on the vector linework from the separate layer that was marked as 'reference'. Kind of like cutting out a stencil and then spray painting a wall. (where the stencil in this example is the line-art and the spray paint is the fill colors for the flats)

    On the subject of merging the vector layers before coloring... if you don't want to do that cuz you still want all your lines in different layers, just plop all the vector layers into a new folder, then make the folder the Reference layer.

    I did a similar method with the heads, only I turned it into a brush that spits out a vertical row of 7 heads with the middle head being a straight camera angle and the 3 levels above and below. I'd like to see this method catch on so better artist can build better sets that I can then alter into my style and use since my set is still flawed on a few angles. Ive tried using 3d models to help me understand the head angles more but it doesn't look very good. There's almost a hidden art of translating angles into manga style so that it reads better. A big challenge was getting the jawline stylized in a way that is pleasing in worm eye views.
