    It is not an OPINEL it is just a knife for (in français) un couteau pour trous du cul.

    Nahhh...all you've done is completely remove their individual character and story from the amount of time they've been around and used. They just look brand new...even newer than what they first look like when you buy older carbon steel blade models. They had a darker quenched kind of look if I remember from when I first bought my No9

    The lanyard was very well done. You toasted the crap out of that handle. I’ve charred one of my Opinels but it came out like ebony. Shiny black and smooth.

    I can’t believe you had 4 beautiful blanks and you didn’t do something special with them. You could’ve done that with regular Opinels.

    Why wouldn’t you just buy a different knife that you liked instead of buying an Opinel and turning it into a turd?

    • @apparentlysmarterthanyou3446
      @apparentlysmarterthanyou3446 7 месяцев назад

      Why wouldn't you just STFU and go away if you don't like someone's work? Are you that insecure? Regardless of your opinion, this is his work, his knife, and his taste. Stop talking like opinels are few and far in-between, they're a dime a dozen. I'd get it if it was a rare knife, but it isn't. So, if you dont like it, shut up and make a better one. Or post a video of your standard opinel like everyone else has. Either that, or just go away.

    На вкус и цвет - .... Мне бы не понравилось держать в руке обугленную головешку... Чем хорош Опинель - ты держишь в руке нож с деревянной рукоятью, ощущая тепло и текстуру дерева (даже если рукоять пропитана)... Тем мне и нравятся эти ножи.

    Listen, or better read this! I got a No9 Carbon I used a file, and made the blade, the most beautiful drop point, I've ever had! Then, I sanded the back sharp corners, to make the handle even more comfortable.After that, I burnt it slowly, using a cheap jet flame lighter. Then I used a lot of raw linseed oil coatings and after they dried. I used wax, to seal the handle forever. For the final step, I stabbed a lemon and let the blade in for many hours. The final outcome, was the most beautiful and functional Opinel I ever had!!! The blade took a very beautiful camouflage pattern! It takes the looks and the feel of the knife to the next level!! I like this mod here too, it's very different ,but still way better than the factory finish!!

      What about the lock collar ?

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 9 месяцев назад

      I do nothing with it. Becareful,If you add oil in the colar, the lock then disengages, so it's dangarous! I only put some oil/wax mixture, to seal the wood in the end,after I finish with all the mods. I never do anything with the colar.@@GavTatu

      @GavTatu 9 месяцев назад

      @@greekveteran2715 i took mine off and put it in the flame till blue. it still works, and matches the blade colour better.

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 9 месяцев назад

      Nice mod! I did have an accident, where I lost my finger last time I meesed with the colar,so since then, I never tried anything! Black (completely burnt handle, finished with oil/wax) makes an excellent contrast with the chrome finish of the colar, that I like very much! The mod I like more though, is to filedown the tip, to a beautiful drop point! and then either stick the blade in a lemon for a day or inside Vinegar for 2 days (avoiding the vinegar o get into the wood, because it swells it and the blade doesn't move freely after that. Thank you for the idea, it sounds really cool! ! @@GavTatu

    Я чтобы дерево хорошо пропиталось просто разобрал нож нагрел дерево в духовке и положил рукоять в морилку на 2 часа. Достал и положил на 2 суток в наполнитель для кошачьего туалета. Чтобы он аккуратно вытянул всю влагу. Цвет дерева получился глубокий !! Можно делать ещё разного цвета морилку и по пол дня держать в них.

  • @alexgloba9.90
    @alexgloba9.90 2 года назад

    Есть ещё секрет. Дерево пропитывается эпоксидной смолой на горячую. И дерево становится как пластик) особенно хорошо в месте крепления клинка. Тогда он не разбухает от влаги

    The charred look is really cool, but personally I would go over all the wood woth a steel or brass brush to expose the new uneven woodgrain, that would keep the dark brown color but ad some nice texture aswell

    Bonjour, C'est quoi le vernis à la fin ? La brou de noix sèche rapidement mais l'huile de lin mets des jours à sécher à cœur... Pourquoi vernir tout de suite après ? Et quel est ce vernis ? Quelle tenue dans la durée ?
