I am also on and off violin and SUZUKI method also helps me a lot. and as I keep returning to the early pieces now I have fuller information. this piece is Chorale Cantata "Ach, lieben Christen seid getrust" BWV 114 (BCA 139) written in 1724. The opus is from his second cantata cycle, when he was Thomaskantor in Leipzig based on a hymn of penitence by Johannes Gigas (1561). i just wanted to add, as i found i researched for it although not very clear, people will find it easier to retrieve. it was a painstaking effort and yet there are ones i couldn't identify.

Does the chromatic scale exercise pitch sensitivity more than your every-day diatonic scale? I believe so. Can we get young children to hear the chromatic scale (and even micro-tones) accurately so that singing in tune is EASY? A step I forgot to mention right after singing the major scale, pointing to feet, shins, knees etc is: Sing repertoire on note names, scale degrees and solfege pointing to feet, shins, knees, etc

I gave a RRR presentation last night at MN Rally to Read and it really got me thinking and dreaming about big goals. It's intuitive to me that music education enhances language learning and it was fun to hear from other presenters at the rally - the scientific research clearly demonstrates that PITCH training and RHYTHM training greatly enhance language skills and literacy. Could we work together to give ALL children the ability to sing in tune? Pitch sensitivity and rhythmic training enhance LANGUAGE LITERACY. Singing and MOVING with music have endless therapeutic benefits for children living in a stressed-out, severely divisive, screen-addicted society. Let's give ALL children the ability to use their own voices to make beautiful music TOGETHER.
