How to Remove a Norcold RV Fridge Pannel (And Paint!)
How to remove a Norcold RV fridge panel. Also how to paint an RV refrigerator panel for an upgraded look. To paint, I first primer the panels.
I use Zinsser BIN primer. It is a little pricey, but well worth the money as it sticks to the cabinets and walls really good and does not scratch off. It costs about $80.00 a gallon at your local Box store. Below is a link to Amazon where it is 2 gallons for $100. Thanks for watching!

RV Dometic Fridge Not Working ($25 FiX!!!)
Dude... music is not like dic...more is not always better.
Thanks for the comment,..... preciate it.
Horrible music. Please never use the music again.
Thanks for the input, you're not the first person to say that. Probably won't use that no more 🤣
Saved yourself a good chunk of change, gonna do this on my 5th wheel front cap, good job 👍
I sure did, insurance gave an estimate of $11,000 to fix the fiberglass and awning. I fixed the fiberglass for around $200, and the new awning for around $1400, and a couple days labor. Thanks for the comment and good luck on your project!
Y'all did good!
Thank you!
Bonds isn’t water proof. You should use bonds fiberglass short strand and it instantly be water proof without a rubber roof coating
Thank you for the tip, I will look into that.
You did an awesome job! I really need that cleaning stuff you used, it worked as soon as you started.
Thank you, It was bar keepers helper.
Mine has 1/8 or 1/4 inch luan plywood.
On the outside or inside? That seems thin for the outside.
@ the roof panels on top.
Now if u don’t address why water was getting in in the first place it will just rot out again😂😂
You are correct😁
Good job.
Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it!
@@parkedredesign No worries. Keep up the great work.
Worth it? Absolutely! Nice job!
Thank you, I appreciate the comment! We ended up selling this camper for $12,500 after we used it for three years, so the ROI on the money we put into it was good as well.
Way to small
I like to say Cozy 😁, thanks for the comment.
@ I do like it though Nice work!
@@Mr.SuperDuper-idk Thanks, and I do agree it was small, we have since upgraded to a 35 foot Keystone Montana.
Couldn't deal with the music mac so i moved on👎
Noted, thanks for the comment.
How did you do the countertops?
I used MDF, paint and epoxy to make them. I have a video on how I did it here: ruclips.net/video/yIAMU1lSO9E/видео.htmlsi=5F2yUZD1Udud8o4H. If the link doesn't work you can scroll through my videos on my channel. One thing I will note is in the fifth wheel I used an epoxy I got from Lowes and the countertops came out with a little bit of a yellow tinge. The counter tops I did in the how to video I used an epoxy called super clear which came out better I think.
Thank you sir. This is a great video. Planning to swap out my RV water tank and may have to outfit my gas line. This helped. TYMM :)
You're welcome, glad it helped. FYI, One thing in the video that you don't need to do is put the Teflon tape on the fitting. This type of flare fitting doesn't require it.
Good job! I cracked my rear bumper (fender) and repaired it like this: once you’ve done it you have the confidence to do more such repairs yourself… so I’m about to get started on a similar accident with a high branch.
I agree, I hope I don't have to do it again, but if I have to I definitely will have a lot more confidence!
The question I see when you are liquid nails and nailing in the supports are you nailing that directly to the roof of the camper? Maybe I'm missing something but it's not going to put holes in the top of the camper?
No, I used 1/2" nails and the wood supports are 3/4" wide, so the nails do not go through to the roof.
This music. Fuck !!! They should play this over for like a hostage situation. The bad guys would give up in minutes. Take me to jail, kill me !!! Please anything just make it stop!!!
WE WANT JOLI! WE WANT JOLI! WE WANT JOLI! WE WANT JOLI!
Ha Ha, Its Joli pronounced Joe Lee, but close enough. I have been trying to get her on camera but she refuses, maybe one day.
@@parkedredesign Oh lol The closed caption was on and it was spelled Joey 😂 Great work on camper roof, I just got a pop up camper and about to undergo the same process. Video was really informative 👍
@@droopyguy That is funny, thank you, and good luck on your renovation!
A Camper is the thing that goes in the bed of a truck. Palomino makes a pop-up camper. This is a pop-up tent trailer.
Ahh, I see.
First of all that’s NOT a camper…..its a trailer!
Thank you for the comment. I am a little confused by it tho. Why would you say it's not a camper?
Awesome job!! I just got a 28 footer in rough shape for a full rebuild. Your build gives some great inspiration!
Thank you, good luck on your rebuild. I will be posting some videos on some cool cabinets I just built, so check back if you need any more ideas for your restoration!
can you post what kind of epoxy/resin you used and where you got it? i like the pump system i don't want to deal with measuring
I posted a link to the epoxy I used in the description. It is the west system. The pump system is definitely much easier, just one to one.
Good job. I’ve watched several of these roof replacement videos, some know what they’re doing, others haven’t got a clue. I knew when you used the hole punch that you had a solid knowledge of what you were doing. We HAD a Keystone Outback Sydney edition travel trailer I was getting ready to re roof and replace the AC unit on, but in June of this year we had 3”-3 1/2” hail for about 35 minutes, it destroyed that camper, my pickup and the house. The insurance company declared the travel trailer a total loss, but not the pickup and the house is getting a new roof and gutters. But sadly we lost our camper. We are on the hunt for a new to us 4 season fifth wheel, but today’s economy is really making it tough to get a loan for exactly what we want. The dealers have offered us other campers but we refuse to settle for something we don’t exactly want. The last dealer we went to tried as hard as they could to put us into a camper we just didn’t want, so I told them to go pound sand and we would wait until either they were hurting enough to deal or we were ready to pay cash. These banks today are out to fleece as many people as they can for as many Pennie’s as they can.
Thank you for the comment and sorry to hear you lost the camper. I know what you mean about looking for a new one, they can be crazy expensive. Our latest one we bought was a 2015 Keystone Montana High Country. We paid $6500 for it. Structurally it was in good shape (until I hit a tree with it) but the interior needed to be redone. We put in all new furniture and painted it. I know we are into it for under $12,000. Check back if you want to see the before and after video of it. I should be posting that in another couple weeks after I finish up a few little things I have left to do.
Looks to me like you did a good job. You definitely have encouraged me to tackle a similar project. I managed to back our motorhome into a tree when I was parking it on our property. I will get on that project soon. Thanks for posting your excursion into fiberglass repair.
Thank you, I know it sucks when we make dumb mistakes with our RV's. Just have to look at the positives, like I learned a new skill. LOL. Overall it was not that bad of a job. The biggest thing for me was that it was time consuming because I probably put more fiberglass on than I needed and I had to sand a lot.
I would coat the entire roof wood with resin
That would definitely make it water proof. Thank you for the comment!
Great video, thanks!! Wondering about putting a layer of reflectix in between the roof layers for light insulation? 🤔
Thanks for the comment, It may help keep some of the summer heat out??
Very impressive
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
No adhesive from the styrofoam to the panelling? Oops.
Nope, but it's holding up good so far!
Nice job , these are not easy to repair especially if the roof side are bad but it turned out great !
Thank you, I appreciate the comment!
Asinine music
Noted, still working on how to improve my editing, thank you for the input.
Accidents happen Anyone that has an RV has had problems before. I have done some fiberglass jobs on ours. Great job
It hurt when I first did it, but I am glad for the experience to (somewhat) learn a new skill. Thank you for the comment!
why didnt you use self leveling lap sealant?
It was suppose to be, but didn't work to well
How did you lift the entire roof off and get it on the ground
After I unbolted it and it was in the lowered position I went back and forth from each end and shimmied it a little at a time until I could get in the center and lower it to the ground, if that makes sense.
@@parkedredesign gotcha , thank you
@@andrewradom3772 My pleasure
Pretty labor intensive job by yourself. Nicely done!!
Thank you, I appreciate that comment!
You did a real nice job repairing/replacing this roof. I have the same Palomino popup with the same roof issues. I was wondering if a coating specific for fiberglass (like Dicor fiberglass RV roof coating) might be a better choice than the Heng's rubberized coating. What do you think? Does the rubberized roof coating stick real well or does it tend to peel off?
I am not familiar with the Dicor Fiberglass RV roof coating, so I can not say one way or the other if it would be a better choice. What I can say is that it has been a year and the Heng's is holding up good on this roof. It has not peeled, cracked or leaked so far. It is stored outside as well, not under any cover. The can does say it can be used on rubber, metal, wood, concrete or wherever a durable flexible coating is needed. Hope that helps.
@parkedredesign Thanks alot!
@@Thomas-yx9vs welcome
Great video. Gives me encouragement to tackle my own repair!
Thank you, It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Just had a lot of sanding 😂
Great job! I'm getting ready to tackle the same job on almost the same camper. Did you paint the rubber roof material right over the caulking on those metal rails that run the length of the roof on the two sides?
I did paint right over the caulking on the rails. After the fact I wish I had taken the rails off and put new butyl tape under it. I also wish I had tried harder to peel the palomino sticker off the back as you can see it through the rubber roofing. It still works the way I did it fine and has had no leaks since.
excellent
I appreciate the excellent comment, Thank You!
Excellent job. Thanks for the content!
Why Thank you for the comment! I owe you a six pack of Busch Lattes for the kind words 🤣
Wow! Nice job 👍
Thank you for the unexpected comment, I appreciate it!
Seriously I keep coming back to watch this video, $200!? And it looks like that now, truly amazing...question, you said after towing it you like towing a 5th wheel ...did you have a travel trailer before this? We are thinking about changing to a 5th wheel also....
Yes we did have a travel trailer before this one. I liked towing the fifth wheel because I didn't get as much of the sway as I did with our pull behind. We have since got a new (Used) fifth wheel that we like even better because we found one with a full size bathroom. Stay tuned for the before and after video of that one. And thanks for the comments!
Great job love it
Thank you, it makes me happy that you loved it!
Wow wow wow what an amazing job!!!
Thank you for the amazing comment!
Yes, you did a wonderful job restoring that fifth wheel. I currently own a fifth wheel myself and thinking about some decor ideas.
If you decide to do any painting, I highly recommend using the Zinzer BIN primer. It is a little more expensive (around $80 a gallon) but we have found it sticks best to the cabinets and RV walls. Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!
Dude!.....By the look of it, you should be spending all that time....working on that house!😂
It sure needs it! 🤣
Great video im fixing are roof this is a geat help thanks
I am glad you found it helpful, thanks for taking the time to comment friend!
Excellent video. I’m planning on doing this tomorrow, but I don’t have nobody to help me remove the roof. Is it doable alone, or it’s crazy heavy?
It is heavy, but I was able to get the roof off myself. I just slowly went from side to side and shimmied it to where I could lower it to the ground, if that makes sense.
@@parkedredesign perfect, thank you my brother
@@Szabi9246 No Problem!
Great job.
Thanks so much, I appreciate the comment!
Would you be able to provide a list of the materials you ended up having to use?
I can, I am out of town working and don’t have my computer. I will list it in the comment section when I get back.
Do you need to get it certified by a gas fitter? or are there no regulations?
I am not aware of any regulations that require it to be certified by a gas fitter.
@@parkedredesign I guess we have different rules here in Aus
