RV Dometic Fridge Not Working ($25 FiX!!!)
Seriously I keep coming back to watch this video, $200!? And it looks like that now, truly amazing...question, you said after towing it you like towing a 5th wheel ...did you have a travel trailer before this? We are thinking about changing to a 5th wheel also....
Yes we did have a travel trailer before this one. I liked towing the fifth wheel because I didn't get as much of the sway as I did with our pull behind. We have since got a new (Used) fifth wheel that we like even better because we found one with a full size bathroom. Stay tuned for the before and after video of that one. And thanks for the comments!
Great job love it
Thank you, it makes me happy that you loved it!
Wow wow wow what an amazing job!!!
Thank you for the amazing comment!
Yes, you did a wonderful job restoring that fifth wheel. I currently own a fifth wheel myself and thinking about some decor ideas.
If you decide to do any painting, I highly recommend using the Zinzer BIN primer. It is a little more expensive (around $80 a gallon) but we have found it sticks best to the cabinets and RV walls. Thank you so much for the wonderful comment!
Dude!.....By the look of it, you should be spending all that time....working on that house!😂
It sure needs it! 🤣
Great video im fixing are roof this is a geat help thanks
I am glad you found it helpful, thanks for taking the time to comment friend!
Excellent video. I’m planning on doing this tomorrow, but I don’t have nobody to help me remove the roof. Is it doable alone, or it’s crazy heavy?
It is heavy, but I was able to get the roof off myself. I just slowly went from side to side and shimmied it to where I could lower it to the ground, if that makes sense.
@@parkedredesign perfect, thank you my brother
@@Szabi9246 No Problem!
Great job.
Thanks so much, I appreciate the comment!
Would you be able to provide a list of the materials you ended up having to use?
I can, I am out of town working and don’t have my computer. I will list it in the comment section when I get back.
Do you need to get it certified by a gas fitter? or are there no regulations?
I am not aware of any regulations that require it to be certified by a gas fitter.
@@parkedredesign I guess we have different rules here in Aus
Beautiful build, well worth the time and labor! Y’all did an awesome job!
Thanks for the comment, we didn't think we would ever get rid of it, but our newest restoration we feel came out even better. Ill be posting before and afters hopefully soon of that.
Again what kind of paint did you use on the out side top ?
I used Heng's rubber roof coating. I do have a video on how I fixed and painted it (it is the part 2 video) In that video I show the can that I used and there is a link as well :)
You out did yourself from beginning to the finish! an AWESOME JOB ! WOW ! 🙌🙌🙌
Thank you I appreciate the comment!
wOULD YOU BE WILLING TO DO ANOTHER?
Eventually I would love too! My work has had me traveling so much I haven't had much time to work on even the new camper I got for myself. I haven't posted a new video in a while because of this, but hopefully I will soon.
Where did you get the bottom molding on the first piece you installed please?😊 also great job I’m a girl and I think I can do this on my small camper. Also one last question putting those holes into the siding. Has it caused any leakage inside of when it rains or when you get water on it is there a way to prevent that if it has happened?
I reused the bottom molding that was already on the camper. If your camper does not have this molding, Panther RV products does sell this type of molding. (panthervproducts.com)(search rv trim) As far as leak prevention we put a bead of clear silicone across the top of the diamond plate and then silicone over all the screws. I did not have any leaks. My wife prefers she does that part because I make a mess of it when I try to use the caulk gun. She doesn't like to be filmed so that is why that process is not in the video. I know you can do it!
Could you not cut that layer out
Not exactly sure which layer you are talking about, but if it was the foam layer, I couldn't cut that because I didn't want to risk cutting the thin metal roof.
Excellent video. Thanks!
Thank you for the comment!
Great video thanks for making it!
Thanks for the comment. One thing I did in the video that you can omit is I added pipe tape to the threads. You don't need pipe tape on flare fittings.
Beautiful paint color!
Thank you for the compliment!
Q? Whats holding up the cross beams STOPPING the roof from dipping in the center ? And collapsing the cross beam at not attached to the frame? It will sink like ours down the middle if there is weight ?
The metal cross beams are attached to the roof with screws through the wood stringers. The metal cross beams have a slight curve to them which I believe it is suppose to help curve the roof so it does not sink down.
Awesome 👍
Thanks for the Awesome Comment!
What do you think of pressure washing it before you began this job? Just an observation as I just got an 1999 Coleman pop-up today?
I didn't pressure wash this one because it had a lot of holes in it, so I just hand washed it. If it didn't have all the holes I would have pressure washed it.
@@parkedredesign Thank You 😊
@@joannekennedy4093 You're Welcome
What did you do, and what did you use to repaint the old cabinets?
I rebuilt the bottom cabinets and kept the top cabinets. I used 1 x 2 and 1/8" plywood to build the bottom cabinets. To paint the cabinets I highly recommend using Zinsser BIN Primer. It is a little more expensive like $75 a can, but I find you don't have to do any prep like sanding the cabinets before hand and I have not had any issues with the paint scratching off. We then use Valspar Cabinet and Furniture paint (Satin) for the cabinets. I am currently remodeling another fifth wheel and will be posting a video on how I rebuilt one of the cabinets in it.
Beautiful!
Thank you for the Beautiful comment!
How thick is the top of the roof? What size screws would you use so they dont just penetrate tbrough the other side
This roof was a thin aluminum not sure of the thickness but it was pretty thin. For the crown staples that I used to attach the center wood stingers to the side stringers they were half inch (the stringers were 3/4 inch wide) To attach the ceiling panels to the stringers I used 1/2 inch narrow crown staples (as well as liquid nails during both processes) To attach the metal support brackets to the ceiling panels I used 3/4" screws.
Amazing and beautiful. Question, if one wanted to just cover that ac hole from outside, what could one do?
Thank you, Is your roof metal like this one? If so you could get a thin piece of metal and rivet it over the hole then cover it with the hengs waterproof coating. You could also see if you could find an rv skylight cover depending on the size of the hole and place that over the opening, then you would have a view to the stars :)
@@parkedredesign thank you!
Why not🤷♂️
Right
I am currently in the process of repairing the roof on my pop-up, and this video helped me figure out how to get it done.. Thank you. However, what is the thickness of the foam board?
Glad it helped, I used the 3/4 inch 4x8 sheets of expanded Polystyrene board insulation. I got it at Lowes.
Thank you
Very well done
Thank you for the comment!
Hello. I just bought a 97 palomino mustang(or at least im 99% sure thats what it is) and i ave to redo the roof. Your video is suuuper useful. Did you say .197 inch plywood? Im not sure of im just not looking in the right place but i dont see a fraction that equals that😅
Yes. I bought it at Lowes. It is called Revolution Ply. It is .197 or 5mm plywood sheathing. It used to be around $16 a sheet but I think now it is more like $26
Crazy how it went from a dump to something I could live in😮
Thanks for the comment!
Did you glue the insulation right to the canvas top?
Yes, I used the fuze-it extreme temperature construction adhesive to glue it to the top. This top was an aluminum skin. I then glued and stapled the wood panels to that.
Did you buy new metal supports or were those the original?
Those were the original ones, I just painted them.
looks good, but while you had that sander out I would have removed the decal... seems nobody ever does before coating the roofs on pop ups
I agree with you, I thought the same thing after I started painting over it. Next time I would do that.
@@parkedredesign I thought the same thing but you know what, that is a hell of a lot of work you did on this and if that is the only issue, you've done a heck of a job.
@@seeya4046 I will say, I also thought the rubber paint was going to be thick enough to cover the imperfections, but it wasn't
@@seeya4046 Thank you, I appreciate that!
Wow very nice!!! Question we found a 5th wheel that has some damage on the outside propane compartment and damage to the sidewall area about 9" by 6". It's not a hole but the obvious hit something. If the frame and the inside are good is it worth repairing? No water damage so it seems like it would be fairly easy to repair.
Thank you, I believe it would be, especially if the price was right and there is no water damage. Water damage is where it can be a little costly to repair. Is it aluminum siding or fiberglass? Aluminum siding is a little easier to repair in my opinion, but both can be done.
It’s beautiful when can I hire her?
Thank you for the beautiful comment. I keep telling her she needs to sell her business and go into this full time!

You guys did a excellent job!!!!
Thanks for the excellent comment. We'll be posting our latest before and after renovation this week. So please stay tuned for that video. I would love to know your thoughts on it as well!
The nut lock you used is the wrong one for your application. That lock is for a castle nut. Properly adjusted wheel bearings should have .001" to .005" end play. Forget the lazy Lube system. The center of the hub should never be filled more than 50%. Lug nuts must be properly torqued.
Great information, thank you for the comment.
Cool!
