Planting Bitter Kola

In this video, we show grafted bitter kola seedlings in the nursery of #NDEF #ndefcameroon bear fruits in three to five years. Instead of planting bitter kola by seed which takes some twenty to twenty-fives to bear fruits. We thus encourage viewers and farmers to rather plant the grafted seedlings which are propagated asexually. #grafted #bitter #kola #Bitterkola #NDEF #NDEFCameroon #ICRAF

Thank you very much sir for this explanation. I have followed your teaching, and i have a couple of questions I'd like to asked. 1) Which month of the year is the right propagation season? 2) How long will it take for propagation from an ex-plant to produce enough plantlet ready to be taken to the field for planting? 3) How do I maintain the humidity of the greenhouse? Do i keep on moisturizing the sawdust from time to time? Or just on the first day of placing the combs into the greenhouse.
1) Which month of the year is the right propagation season? Any month is good. Your guiding month will be some six months prior to your planned planting period. With us here in Bamenda, Cameroon, we start from September to plant from March-April 2) How long will it take for propagation from an ex-plant to produce enough plantlet ready to be taken to the field for planting? Six months is good for a great number of plantlets 3) How do I maintain the humidity of the greenhouse? Do i keep on moisturizing the sawdust from time to time? Or just on the first day of placing the combs into the greenhouse. You have to water regularly; say after every three to four days. Remember that the plastic beneath is perforated to avoid water logging.
wow, thank you very much for the answers, am very glad that responded. I'll make sure to refere others to this channel. Thank you.

Good job.please give me the planting distance from plantains
Optional: 3mx3m OR 2mx3m
Please how often should we wet the ex plant embedded within the saw dust?. And what quantity of water is safe?
From 3 months up to 6 months depending on your level of expertise. Excess water will always drain out. Remember that the plastic beneath is perforated. Watering 2 days a week is ok
@ndefcameroon Thanks and God bless, sir. And please, one more thing. I have cut the first couple of buds which grew out vigorously (i.e. have thick base). I believe those are the "apical dominance" thing that need to be cut for lateral sprouts. But a couple of others are also coming out with thick base too. Should I continue to cut and activate those ones too until I get lateral growths?
How many varieties of plain do we have

great work
The pleasure is ours!
Sir, how many days are we going to soak the bitter kola for it to break dormancy...and after that what next?
Even when you plant or nurse them without soaking, water is still absorbed in the process and the duration to break dormancy is dependent on the initial moisture content of your seeds
Very useful. Thank you very much for your useful nd informative videos.
We appreciate and are determined to do more.
How do you come up with this large number of sucker.
It's the fruits of hardwork. Have a look at earlier videos on the channel showing how we started the process culminating with this spectacular result.

pls whats the cost for a training for this type of multiplication
Let's talk on whatsapp at +237677771977 to discuss about details before rushing to say "how much". For example, if the training will be at our premises, it's cheaper. If training will be at your premises while developing your own infrastructures, it is different. So, we await your whatsapp message please.
