xLights Bonus Gem: Release 2024.12 Video
Great video. This will be very helpful
Only issue (and we shoould find a way to fix that) is that is any of the effects have layers, you'd need to first insert/create the same layers on the receiving model before pasting.
VERY GOOD POINT!! .. A flaw we have with any copy/paste operation.
Thanks for a great explanation and great video. Really helped me.
Thank you for the informative video! This helped me fix the issues I was having with my moving heads.
Very good info. Would love to pick your brain sometime.
The readme says "Faces Dialog: add clear selected rows" - this should be States Dialog .. clear selected rows. This was added to the right click menu.
Nice.. 👍
Excellent Presentation. Really informative. I notice under Vendors while setting up the controllers, example using my Falcon F16V5, It doesn't give me the drop down for an expansion/Varient like the V4 use to. Is there a certain reason for that, not sure if it had something to do with the newer Falcon controller. I just noticed that and was curious. Thank you
I believe that is because there are no variants. All F16V5 are the same 16 onboard and 4 chains. .. you cant add an expansion board for example ..
d-id puts a watermark all over the screen for the free version , in fact there is no version without a watermark even the top tier priced version
Thank you. I knew the hide unused exited due to a previous video I watched months ago, but I could not remember how to do it.
GrepWin is available here tools.stefankueng.com/grepWin.html
It has been noted that I can do this all using the GrepWin program .. using a search and replace ... wow .. too simple!
Thanks for the updates. Can you help me with a link to Dan's videos? I can't seem to locate them.
ruclips.net/video/vd4WN8ZRMpM/видео.html
His channel is KulpLights, www.youtube.com/@kulplights
Update: The single strand issue was my mistake. I had an ON effect (white) on the Everything group off screen at the top.
Update: Save palette name .. Hold the CTRL key when you press the save icon!!
Xlights can export a dxf file, so can xlights add pixel layout from the dxf file?
No i dont believe this has ever been coded. I think they even removed the .dxf export but I could be wrong on that.
Greetings from Spain. This is a very useful topic for light shows. Would you be so kind as to turn on subtitles? I am not good enough to follow the video without subtitles. Thanks in advance.
Thanks .. I just enabled it. Didnt realize I needed to do that.
The Scale To Buffer is the true hidden gem here. This has been needed for so long. Nicely done, Scott.
Thanks Daryl. I feel though you should really focus more on the 'add key bindings to switch between timing tracks, unselect all timing tracks.' This is an absolute goldmine for anyone that buys sequences. It's made moving around the effects a pain no more! Ron Howard did a good demonstration on his Monday Minute. ruclips.net/video/yEP3z8PYuPA/видео.htmlsi=7PKk_Xv0jkRBNJLY&t=153
Not feeling it
This is awesome!
Ci saremo!
Can’t wait to participate again this year.
8:07 for the song choices..
Thanks! Appreciate all the time you guys have put into this feature. Our shows will be better for it. Also appreciate little “beginner tips” peppered in (hit T for a timing line)… they only take a moment. The veterans will blow past it, but it might change a rookie’s life! Chapter listings would be the only small thing that’d make these videos just one notch more helpful. See you in the Zoom Room.
Important Update: The Master View was incorrect in the video. The MH-Dimmer, MH-Shutter, MH-Pan & Tilt should be at the BOTTOM of the list of Moving Head items. This is important to NOT break your prior Moving Head effects. So MH Group then MH-1 thru 8 then MH-Dimmer,Shutter,Pan,Tilt,Gobo etc. In my video I never used those MH1-8 so I didn't realize I had it wrong.
Great video as usual Daryl. I did have someone message me as I was watching this and he sent me a screenshot of his master view and had his layout set up similar to this. I had him change it to Moving head group, each individual mover, Shutter, Dimmer, pan and then tilt and it instantly fixed his issues. That is the order I keep mine in as well.
I didn't put anything on MH1-MH8 in the video, but I think I may have listed it incorrectly. Did you have your MH-xxx AFTER the MH1-8? I think that might be the better way.
Re: Ability to rename controller names - this is more an internal thing, to allow one to refer to a controller as Pi5 or a Pi4 and not break things going forward
Great video! I have two medium size trees I want to make sing instead of buy coro and stuffing pixels! Wish you would have spent more time with the movements than the drawing buy I might be able to figure it out. Thank you!
I should do another video on that .. but essentially you create 4-5-6-7 different images where the mouth is the only thing that needs to change. Then point each of the phonemes to those images.
Thanks! Everyone who sequences over charges in order to sell memberships. Guess the line between capitalism and gouging is pretty thin!
That and "sales" .. never buy full price .. wait a day and there will be a sale! Thanks for watching.
Shortcut, you can right click on the prop from the visualizer to set group count.
Which facebook group were the showstopper MT posts referenced in your video in? would be curious to see the other approach.
The Showstoppers Facebook group at facebook.com/groups/1052895671989826
lol .. what I originally thought was the face was likely the witches' hands.. just pretend that was the mouth :-)
Great Explanation. Thank You!
UPDATE: Placing a label on a submodel will cause a crash when you save. Stay tuned for an update or the next release for the fix to that new feature. (Fixed in next release)
You are a brilliant man. Seriously, your video is very informative and well articulated. Thanks!
UPDATE! SKIP!! ~6:00 to about 7:50, I say to clone the repo - that is incorrect. You want to FORK the repo. Click the arrow beside the Fork button at the top of the page. The fork operation will take you to about 8min mark.. where you can continue on...
Newbie here, so bear with me - what effect do I need to apply to get the spiral to go? I've tried a few but I don't really know how most of the effects work. Thanks
Sorry, learning a lot - didn't have Vertical Buffer Layout checked in SubModels. After that it all began to make a lot more sense. Thanks - some great submodel examples!
I have a similar prop but with 4 strands of 50 nodes instead of 6 strands of 50 nodes and I can't figure out how to make it come out correctly
strands and nodes should not matter in this case. Note that the PROP itself has the holes specially cut to provide this effect. It is part of EFL-Designs NSR line.
@@darylerwin I figured out that it's not like a circle - the exit at the top and the entrance at the bottom do not have to be synchronized - you just let it exit at the top and give appropriate timing to keep the beat. It took me a minute to figure this out.
Can that arch model with the spiral wraps at about 18:30 be available for download so I can study it in more detail? That seems like a great technique but I need to poke around some to really understand it
This should be available from xlights or from efl-designs website as the NSR Arch.
@Scott - we would love to have your at the @Indiana Christmas Mini next Saturday, June 8th!
Thank you
Great tutorial. I was able to add textures to my home using actual material & color choices Hover provided like GAF shingles, LP Smart Siding, etc. then when all I had to use Sketchup for was to do the Save As and Export steps!

Ilikethat is the group that created the new 8 port Baldrick controller from build a light show in the UK
I can’t find that controller on my 2024.10 xlights
@@stringle100 sorry, I miss spelt it, it’s called ilightthat and the the Baldrick comes up automatically!
Didn’t on mine I’m afraid I delete mine and then did discover and it came back just the same !
Hi David all sorted I did a reinstall of xlights 😮😊
I have watched many" how to sequence videos", there are so many gems in this one, and I like the pace of it. Mark you know your stuff.
My apologies for not getting to everything on the agenda. Time was going faster than I expected. Hope it was helpful and you enjoyed it regardless.
Don't blame, me.. Yes, Preview..but the xml tag is called LayoutGroup.
THANK YOU Sometimes its difficult to figure out the release note based on the description given
Please keep making these videos. I like your style of presenting the updates and being a developer lends another perspective. This is much appreciated.
