That intro footage shows how rough KY lake can be. On a straight North or South wind that lake can generate ENORMOUS waves not seen anywhere else short of the Great Lakes or a select few like Mille Lacs.
@@sunrise7ranch85 it’s the roughest lake I’ve been on. Okeechobee 2nd!
Great tips, perfect storm coming next week weather wise. Much warmer days and nights and a good moon, should see a much improved mood swing. 🤞
@@robinsheltrafishing2634 I think so too!
Love getting all this info!! Perfect timing!!

Great video Eric !!! T y
seen fry in the shallows below grenada. so thick there even the predators are having trouble getting to them. pity the folks that booked trips this month....
@@kurthoelter3495 this is nice weather to some of these people!
I'm struggling on Lake Yale old part of Harris Chain. I can't figure them out. Lake full of giants but nothings eating.
@@ohhkota7454 that’s tough!
@TilsonsGuideService do you have any recommendations for that lake and conditions were in?
@ personally I’ve never fished the lake but if it has any hydrilla in it, I’d definitely be looking at some deeper hydrilla edges and if not then I’d go looking for heavy junk mats and get out the big weights and start punching. Punching mats and fishing deeper grass edges are my go-to for this time of year
Toho was fire Sunday we caught over 40 fish just no giants Lakefront legend
@@407kingg5 hell yeah. Last couple weeks I’ve been able to have some solid days fishing in the “ditch” all day just nothing big. Maybe a 15 to 16lb bag of fish but that seems to be about it.
The spawn is always huge on toho how are they gonna spawn in all that hydrilla with no sand
@@davecfishing7907 that’s a good question. Seems they find a way each year
@@TilsonsGuideService yes I see most of them in the pad fields where the hydrilla doesnt grow as nuts, but I think its limited compared to the past when they had sand all over to sit on
@@davecfishing7907 last time I saw a truly good spawn on Toho was back when North and South Steer beach was still open and not choked out with hydrilla. Each year they’ve moved further out into the lake but with that comes fewer successful spawns. I think what has been keeping Toho really productive is the constant restocking of tournament release fish.
I don't have FFS because I am just a weekend angler and can't justify the cost but, I consider it just another technologic entity like trolling motor, Power Poles, lithium batteries etc. I am very careful with how I handle my catches and don't take my hand to punch out hooks, keep them out of the water etc. I release them all to limit my impact on the bass population...
@@Kendrix1 that’s awesome thanks for watching!
Lake Kissimmee has to be extremely tough right now. I fished Orange Lake a few weeks ago and it was tough and cold. We fished probably 2 hours without a bite and pushed off deeper and found a hole loaded with fish and caught them flipping grass but this cold weather sucks
@@RyanSmith-fb8rf man that’s always awesome when you finally find something after struggling
What’s your go-to chatter retrieve in the toho area?
@@justinmalone8640 slow and steady usually wins the race for me unless I’m fishing for open water fish; then I usually employ the Yo-Yo method. For me when I’m fishing around hydrilla, I like for the jig to get hung up and snap it free; usually gets bit when ripping it out of the grass.
@ thanks brother, I know I’ve been asking a lot of stuff. I sure to appreciate it!
Learning a lot! Thanks for all the great insights. Conditions look like they’re going to be improving a lot & May be great for the upcoming Bassmaster Kayak Series event.
@@TheFishingMommy I think it’ll be good!
@ man I sure hope so! Driving all the way from New York to be there :)
@@TheFishingMommy be careful on the roads and come on down! The should be great and the fishing will likely be better 🔥
@@TilsonsGuideService thanks so much! The good/bad news is, I’m used to slippery winter roads :)
I’ve also had good luck with the Strike King caffeine Shad for fluke fishing. It sinks a little more it seems but a lot of times they won’t hit it with working it like a jerk bait but reeling it straight in super slow they’ll smoke it 👍 Great video ! Appreciate it !
@@glenndaugherity6187 I really like the plastic that SK uses for the caffeine shad, that straight tail offers a different look as well. Great bait!
I love the caffeine Shad it’s my favorite fluke style plastic because the tail makes it flutter like a senko on the fall
Thanks for sharing, Erik. When is the best time to fish the Harris chain in your opinion? Time of year
@@AaronKellerFishing it’s pretty good most of the year but I really think it will go off in the next few weeks following a warm up. The layout of the Harris chain offers fish a lot of area to stage in a pre spawn wintering pattern. Once they move up for the spawn every lake on the chain is target rich and can be great. That being said, I really like the spawn there.
Coffee tastes better in a cup like that
@@CPFJason it sure seems that way
I appreciate this video. Smoking old timers always out fished me, as I get all jacked up on energy drinks and want to cover water.
Same. Never could stand slowing down
Great job! It's Freezing for sure. It definitely got tougher once it got in the 50s
Yeah. This latest round of fronts definitely smacked em in the face
As always, golden info right here on Eric's channel!! All us Bassmaster Kayak folks are listening!

Indeed we are lol 😂
I caught 27 in 4 hours with water temp at 58 degrees on a devils horse . They will hit top water even when it’s cold.
Man that’s awesome!

@@davidhayes8426 it’s meeeeee!
Great video. I fish Toho in the BFL later in March. Being from Michigan we use a lot of Green Pumpkin baits. Can you explain why black and blue work so good down here. Thanks.
Tannic or dark water Blk blue shows up better in dirty water. Green pumpkin works but better for cleaner water. Just my experience as a Florida native
@@1829Lola provides a more natural look in black tannic waters. Blacks, blues, and greens. Green Pumpkin works great here too I’ve just personally had great luck with black and blue.
Thanks. Move into winter always tough!
Is this a good technique for winter fishing in Florida ??
@@glenndaugherity6187 it can be an effective technique for year round fishing here
ET knows Toho!
Hey Erik, Happy New Year to you!!!!....Quick question here, I use Dobyns rods also and have pretty much every 7'0 to 7 foot 3 rod in their "Fury" series. I'm struggling a bit with rod choices in different cover situations since I'm newish to Florida and not used to the different cover types here.....I'm not sure if you're familiar with their "Fury" series, but if you are....which action/power would you fish treble hook baits like top waters and lipless baits on and which rod would you throw a chatter bait on? Also, would your recommendation change in heavy grass situations versus more open water? I fish out of a kayak, so that's important as well as it's pretty hard for me to throw anything over 7'3.Thanks a bunch!!!
@@mikeschwallenberg3456 for cranking treble hook baits and chatterbaits the Fury 705CB was my favorite when I was still using Fury’s. For topwater anything; spook, frog, plopper, you name it…gotta be that Fury 734C or 704C. Hope that helps!
@@TilsonsGuideService That does help, thanks a bunch! I've had that 705CB crankbait rod for a while now, but just always assumed it was not enough backbone for grassy kinda situations....what's your thought process (advantages) on throwing that lighter rod? Also, as far as the frog goes, would you still throw that on the 704C in heavy cover? Last question, I promise....I assume you would you use the 735C (Mag Heavy) for punching heavy cover, any other uses for that one? I really appreciate the help 👍
@ yeah man so I mean, a 4 power rod in a 7’ length is pretty stout not to mention the Fury line is a little stiffer than say the XP line. I think a 735 is fine heavy flipping and a 704 is fine for a frog. It’s more about the angler and his ability to swing that hammer than it is the rod 😎
Even if your not catching anything I love to see it and what and how your fishing it
@@PHATBASSASSASSIN thank you!
good stuff fav lake!!!
@@davecfishing7907 it’s a fun lake for sure!
Thanks so much for the video. Just stumbled on to your channel
@@Kendrix1 hope they help you!
Nice video man, made it to Kissimmee, hatch, and then walk in water a week or two ago... didnt find any hydrilla/milfoil and the fishing was slow. Looks like i should have checked toho! Assuming they sprayed but you don't really know till you go! Any tips to knowing about the grass situations on lakes prior to going? 👍🔥
@@captainandrewcrabtree there’s not really any way to know until you go. Not very many of them have hydrilla like Toho does I will tell you that.
@TilsonsGuideService appreciate it bud, have a good one!
Man Toho has been tough with these cold fronts.... took 13 pounds to win our tourney out there, and I heard only 8 pounds won the ABA... that is INSANE for toho.

Man I gotta tell you I really appreciate your videos… I’m preparing to come down to Florida from New York to fish the Bassmaster kayak series on the Kissimmee chain. I grew up in Orlando but haven’t fished down there for many years!
@@TheFishingMommy hopefully they help! The lake can be intimidating due to the over abundance of hydrilla but there’s a few tricks to finding them!
@ I’m learning a lot from you! And if all else fails there’s always the little lakes ;)
@ some of these little lakes around here are really good!
@ I may take a day of prefishing to hit a couple of them & see if it makes sense for me to stay off the beaten path. I expect probably about 200 anglers to show up for this tournament, so it may get real crowded even on Toho & Kissimmee.
@ there’s plenty of room out there
Great video👍👍
@@robertpanico83 thanks buddy! Looking forward to fishing with you soon!
That’s for the vid! I’ve been throwing a 3.3 kitech fat swing on a 6th sense line thru treble head #10 owner hook on my bfs setup. Dobyns sierra 740c with a dark wolf reel. Catches decent bass when it’s super slow, and it also catches dinner plate specks.
@@justinmalone8640 BFS is changing the game!
@ what do you recommend for a flipping stick? I definitely want to get into that this year
@@justinmalone8640 my personal favorite is the Dobyns Champion 766Flip But generally speaking you want something that’s about 7’6” in length and heavy action fast tip response.
Have they done any spraying
Nope.
@ I talked to Kent there at Richardsons he said he thought he saw some spray boats out there
@ they’ve been spraying some hyacinths and some vine stuff. No hydrilla treatments
Hope they stop spraying
@ you got to be able to get around the lake
Yup, it’s been a grind for me, handful of fish on a good day. Thanks for the report, will start punching more with this cold front next week.
@@robinsheltrafishing2634 yeah it’s been tough. Too much grass, high water levels, warmer than usual temps. That’s all about to change
