Спасибо братан, хорошой урок.
Thanks, can I invert the selection, or can I isolate part of my model with ALT+B then invert it to show the other part?
Sadly not that I am aware of. It's quite basic.
@@notverygoodguy alright thanks for replying.
I followed the steps but the model just turned into a shell of itself.
The most common reason for a problem here is either incorrect normals somewhere in the mode or the model isn't correctly hollowed. If any part of the hollow intersects with the outside of the model then this won't work. If this is the case you do have the option of selecting all the vertices of the outside manually. That said, can you explain at one point you have the problem and what do you mean by "a shell of itself"
Why can't all tutorial videos be like this?
I wish I could make all of them this short. Makes editing much easier :)
My computer locks up when I try to add the modifier subdivision surface :-(
The modifier can take ages if you already have a lot of vertices and an older computer without enough RAM and in extreme cases can crash.
Could anyone make my hollow interior models filled in
You could try this. ruclips.net/video/7-aUbGw8Sz4/видео.html

Thanks for the feedback. I do have a series for people new to blender which I have sorely neglected for a while but will get back to that soon.
you could've explained this under a minute bro
I look forward to your video!
My Blender 4.2 keeps crashing when I choose “With Automatic Weights”. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so, how do I fix it?
This is likely to be an issue with the rig you are creating. Would it be possible to provide a link to your blend file. I would be interested to look at it.
@@notverygoodguy I could send the file to your email?
Hi - great video. I'm trying to fill a void in a model and followed all the steps however the interior walls are reading as exterior so when I hide the external vertices it hides the ones inside too - any ideas on why this may be happening?
Sounds like it is a model with a hole in it rather than a hollow model which might sound like its the same thing but actually isn't. It also sounds like the hole intersects with the outside walls which is why the inside gets selected with the outside. One thing you could try if you are patient is to go into edit mode and try to select everything you see with the circle select brush (press c and adjust the size of the circle with the mouse wheel) select as much as you can and then hide it with h (you might need to right click to come out of circle select first). If there is still more outside that needs selecting repeat the process until you are left with just the inside hole of the model. Finally do ALT-H to get the hidden parts back. They should still be all selected so go ctrl i to invert the selection. This should now select everything except the parts you selected before i.e. the inside and delete these vertices with x, vertices. Take a copy of your model first of course. Hope this works!
@@notverygoodguy It's a hollow model with drainage holes in. I've filled the drainage holes in with cylinders in 3D builder but it still doesn't seem to be recognising any of the internal topography.
@@kingfluff8065 Hmm in this case does it even matter that it has holes in it? It will likely print anyway. That said, it sounds like your only other option is to select all the vertices on the outside of your model and separate them from the rest of the model and I described above. This might require a lot of patience though. If you have a link to the model I would be interested to take a look at it.

This is great! I'm playing with both methods, and I am having a bit of trouble with the face sets method. I have three arm segments like you do, but they don't all move together. Is there some setting that I need to adjust? I'm using Blender 4.2.3.

If you haven't started exactly at the center of the world this will happen. Try doing SHIFT C before you start or grab the first vertx you made and move it along the x or y axis until the hole closes.

Liked the casual relaxed way of telling things with the rush plus the burning of the cube was a nice touch.
Have to develop my video graphics effects somewhere :)
thanks but when i add boolean to my object it losses the quality
The quality? Can you explain what you mean by quality here? It is often the case that booleans break things but that is usually due to the normals needing fixing.
Thank you for this video! As a beginner, it really helped me understand vertex groups while I was working with meshes. Recently, I discovered that bones can also have their own vertex groups (one for each bone) and these can get mixed up with mesh vertex groups which can become messy and hard to distinguish, especially if you’re working with many bones. You can even assign mesh vertex groups to bone vertex groups, When I select a mesh, switch to Edit Mode, and select a bone-related vertex group (which appears similar to a mesh vertex group), it highlights the mesh vertex assigned to that bone. This makes it harder to realise that the selected group is actually bone-related, not mesh-related, where only difference is the group names. I know this part might be advanced for beginners, but I thought it was worth mentioning so we know what to expect when we get to the rig part. I am still learning and I may not be 100% right.
I am glad this was useful for you. I have a video about posing an stl which goes into some detail of the vertex groups associated with bones. Well, they are not actually related to the bones themselves they are associated with the weight painting of bones. They simply store the information of which vertices move when the bone moves. These "bone" vertex groups are exactly the same as any other vertex groups and are created when you attach your rig to your model with automatic weights. There is no reason you can't just create or edit them yourself if you prefer. So it can be confusing unless you just remember that "bone" vertex groups are no different than "mesh" vertex groups.
Did this by mistake. thnaks
Alt left mouse does nothing for me.. had to press B to grab them
I think it might be ALT right click I mentioned.
I looooove this tutorial so straightforward and well-explained, thank you!!
Thank you :)
I wish videos like this would pop up when I search for "what are normals in blender" because the videos I'm recommended don't answer the question, and if they did, I didn't comprehend it. I also just watched your video on vertex groups! Great job explaining how all this works.
Thank you for this super clear explanation, you are an excellent teacher~!
Really good to hear it was useful for you and thanks for the feedback.
Great video since I’m transitioning from solidworks to blender and it’s a whole different world. I was wondering if you could maybe do a tutorial of how to generate not uniformal object like vases in blender, something like a dented vase but with different dents on the sides like it would have been bumped a couple of times with different strengths if you get my point, either way great tutorial, thank you!
Thanks for the suggestions. This might have been a good idea to add to this video- One REALLY simple way to achieve what you suggest here is to go into sculpt mode and use the grab brush to just pull out and push in some parts of the finished model. I'll add this idea to my list and perhaps get around to doing more complex vases.
Great video! This helped me with a large horned mask I've been working on.
Good to hear! Thanks.
I am grateful to you
You sure it would print with such a high subdivision?
Subdivisions won't affect your printing as such but may add a little to the time it takes to slice. This model definitely prints :)
Found your videos so easy to follow and extremely helpful! Thankyou so much!🤩
Tnanks for the feedback. Glad you like them :)
I want to keep the hole. How do I do that?
Which hole do you mean? The hole created that matches the "key" shouldn't go away.
@@notverygoodguy when I split the hollow model. I want the openings to stay.
@@Kommander_Rahnn Oh I see. If your model starts out hollow like in this video then you would only need to create the plane as shown in this video and do the boolean. No need to separate the inside from the outside and no need to do a boolean on the inside of the model too. If your model isn't already hollow you will need to make it hollow first. If your model is quite simple then you would just add a solidify modifier to it. If it is complex that might work or you might just hollow it out in your slicer and export the result as an stl for Blender and then cut it.
@@notverygoodguy Awesome. Thanks for your help.
Супер полезно. Спасибо

Doing school work. Saved me ahahha. Most tutorials doesn't say what to press ( like alt+e ) and I got lost. One question tho, when in edit mode I had to select the surface, it didn't do it the whole stripe from bottom to top, but only one of the cubes and had to do them on hand? What did I do wrong
It's hard to say what might be going wrong without being able to see the geometry of your model. Are you sure you are holding the ALT key down while selecting?
