Thanks for the concise video, I read some forum posts and people were saying you need to take the axle out to do it this way lol. Was not too bad using a swivel like you did. I changed mine at 80k miles and the fluid that came out looked clean with 0 debris or anything. I think it shifts slightly smoother now, but we all know jobs like this can have a strong placebo effect Just a note for anyone doing this, you want a shallow socket and a short swivel, there is not a lot of room in there once you start backing out the bolt. If your swivel/socket is on the long side, you can use them to break the bolt free and finish off with a short wrench

    • @Defiantsynthetics

If its not in the manual for the drain and fill then don't touch it. There are many bolts and plugs that "look" like drain plugs but are not, removing the wrong bolt could release something internal that will require disassembly to repair so tripple check your bolts. And use torque specs , this is an aluminum housing which is very easy to crack if you over tighten.

So a little background on me , I'm currently an automotive instructor for a college , I have Ford training and was a Ford tech for 5 years and teaching automotive for over 10 years. That being said I'd do the following : Engine Oil every 3000 miles , I don't care what the book says about going longer. Front Transaxle Fluid , rear transaxle fluid and generator fluid every year, coolant every other year and clean the coolant filter. Brake fluid every 2 years, I use a Amsoil for everything including upper cylinder lubricant from amsoil every fill up because these vehicles are susceptible to fuel dilution of the oil into the start stop feature of the engine.

Front Motor / Generator: Uses an oil cooling system to improve cooling efficiency. This cooling system cools the coils of the motor and generator directly using CVT fluid (CVTF-J4, 2.2 litres). This CVT fluid also lubricates the front motor and generator bearings. This cooling system has an EV sil cooler, a EV oil cooler bypass valve and an electric oil pump (controlled by the PDU). The electric oil pump always runs to supply oil flow for lubrication, however speed can be increased by the PDU to increase cooling efficiency as required.

Front and rear transaxle is Mitsubishi SP-III transmission fluid , if you look through some of my other videos will see I did and oil analysis and the factory fluid right out of the bottle had debris in it this is one of the reasons why I switched all the fluids over to Amsoil.

Awesome vid of the oil analysis, I will definitely switch over as well. If you ever able to make a video of the simple drain/fill of front & rear transaxial that would be great. Cannot find any videos on it since these vehicles are not that popular.

How is the km interval in changing this fluid? Is it just a drain and fill change?

I change it once a year , just a drain and fill, there is a filter screen on the drain plug that I've never seen dirty so reusable . If you have to replace her just want to it's $65 for Mitsubishi.

@@seanmaru3270check out my other vids, I do the ICE oil change every 3000 miles , front and rear differential every year , generator every year and drain and fill coolants every year.

Is the coolant just drain and fill? I know the coolant is where it gets its heating too right?

I tested virgin Mitsubishi SP-III transmission fluid and the results were a disturbing amount of dirt in brand new fluid. I switched to Amsoil as a result and will send in a virgin sample of Amsoil for comparison. I'll have another video with those results. www.amsoil.com/?zo=5141811

@@Defiantsynthetics all good I got there in the end. Hope you’re doing ok on the medical front. For others the whole piece slides across and down from memory. Was quite easy and less complicated than I was originally trying to make it 😂
