This might be the best thriller I've ever read (my April reading round-up)
I've snapped up a couple of your favourites just now! Great choices.
Hiya Luke some great books there like, I believe the sequel to Iron Widow is called Heavenly Tyrant out 24th Dec. My Mum recently read The Heart's Invisible Furies for her book club. I've actually had a better reading year than i usual have especially since I've watched your channel 30 books in total it could also be that I am stuck at home with a bad fracture on my wrist loads off audiobooks on the go 😂 I don't suppose your going to a worst books of the 2024 by any chance ? 😊
Some great books there 📚❤️
I finished this this week and loved it.
So fun isn’t it?!
I’m reading dark matter at the moment really enjoying it
Great book!
Happy bloody Christmas is a brilliant book 😊
I just finished the audio version of this and I loved it!
It’s brilliant isn’t it?
I have just bought the e-book, it sounds brilliant, if I don't like it, look out Luke 😜
I started reading it a couple of days ago, and I am currently up to chapter 9....OMG, I have never laughed out loud so much reading a book.
When I was about 20 pages from finishing the book, I called my therapist and asked for a session. It's been maybe three years now... and whenever I pass the book on my shelf I pause and touch the cover (mine has the image of Jude on its front) and I say, oh, Jude. He's in my heart forever.
Wow! Really affected you!
@@lukesblog2 Yes, absolutely. And one reason I just subscribed to your channel is that I appreciate the way you handled speaking about this book! Looking forward to watching more of your reviews and opinions... and I likely shall be commenting as well!
I absolutely adored Albert Entwistle ❤️
Such a lovely book!
Add to cart yet again!! 😂 what a collection of books. I look forward to posts coming ❤
Im so late!! Another amazing video as always Luke ❤ You constantly have me adding to my list of books I NEED to buy 😂
Love your analysis of the books
Thank you Nev! 🤜🤛
Loved both of the mentioned Kristin Hannah books … and I have had Albert sitting in my Kindle for several months. So I plan to start that one. Thank you so much Luke and congratulations on reaching 2,000 subscribers. Well deserved. 😊
Thank you!! 🙏
Wow 3 books to add to my TBR ! Think I ll pass on Brandon Sanderson for now at least 😉 Looking forward to your future videos and congratulations again for your achievement on RUclips, very well deserved man 🎉 (Not sure I want to see ad breaks on your channel mind but I guess we'll cross that bridge when you get to it 😂 👍
😂 thank you Chris - appreciate it! I’ll try and keep them short and sweet if I have the power!
Hi !! Thanks for the review 😊 enjoyed it very much !! However I disagree the book was terrible !! 😞
Haha absolutely fine! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
One Day was phenomenal! I was in the same boat as you with this one. Broke me for days.
🤜🤛
New subscriber. Love your style, love your enthusiasm. Ordered three of your recommendations that I can't wait to dig into. Thank you!
Love you too Doug! Love that, thank you!!
the fact that Rhythm of War was the worst in the series for me and was still like a 4.5 out of 5 stars should be very telling. It’s such a good series. I can’t wait for Wind and Truth 😭😭
100% feel this!!
Jade City already on my TBR shelf... Iron Widow just got added from this ;) None of This is True was on my radar, but I'm still debating :D
Enjoyed None of This Is True on audiobook on a recent road trip and also enjoyed it much more than expected. I was pulled in from the start, wondering where it would lead and had several theories along the way. It’s going to keep me thinking for quite awhile I presume. Semi-dumbfounded by the ending. 🤯 Would’ve been fun to read with a book club so it could be discussed.
He's not nervous. He's high energy.
Haha damn right!
One Day was also a movie!! I fell in love with the movie before I read the book!! Never watched the Netflix series, but definitely recommend the movie! ❤
I’ll have to watch that too!!
Your nervousness takes away from your presentation. Stop fidgeting and stop covering up the book with your anxious hands.
😂 Wasn’t nervous though. Just stood in my room talking about books. Just my mannerisms. Thanks though 🫡
yes, your presentation was just fine.
Nothing wrong with the presentation. First time watcher, just subscribed, I love enthusiastic, high energy presentations. 😊
@dionnefroude8252 love you too!
You did not look nervous at all lol weird comment but anyways, thank you for the recommendations!
I've only read The House on The Cerulean Sea but it was such a lovely, wonderful, joyous big hug of a book, if you didn't read this yet, do it. I especially loved the promotion of inclusivity and celebrating different folk, and the pure wonder of love
No East of Eden?? 🥺👉🏼👈🏼 I’m just starting it tonight! On my vacation up in the mountains and thought, “Hey, I might as well read a Great American Novel.” I still also need to read Jade City, and the Last Thing to Burn sounds so good!!! Thanks for the recs, Luke!
Haha no I don’t think it quite surprised me. I knew it was going to be one of the greatest novels of all time! These were shockers!
Your channel just popped up on my feed and I have subscribed. I loved One Day. Heartbreaking. I will pick up the book. Thanks for your recommendations. 🇨🇦📚🙂
Welcome Carol! Thanks for subscribing!
None of This is True was a very enjoyable read! Thanks for the recommendations. Adding One Day to my list.
Very welcome!
THE HOUSE OF THE CERULEAN SEA I LOVE THAT BOOK ❤️❤️
That's huge
Thanks 😏
Kazuo Ishiguro is Japanese British. He does write in English afaik, but I think the stilted style is a choice for his storytelling, particularly in this book where the narrator is artificial. I took the story to be the way Klara more or less develops a religion based on her need for the sun, but that's a very personal take.
omg i’m literally sitting down to start klara and the sun rn and ishiguro is one of my favorite authors… hopefully i enjoy it more than this 😭
I hope you do too!!
I would really like to try a Brandon Sanderson, but not sure I could commit to one of his long series unless I love his writing. Would you suggest Tess is a good place to start as a stand-alone?
Start with Mistborn. That’s a better representation of Brandon’s writing and it can act as a standalone. Tress is much more stylized writing than Brandon usually does. IMO
Nice to see you back on RUclips Luke, it's been way to long 😅 Dark Matter sounds really good. I'm reading Eldest book 2 in the inheritance cycle by Christopher Paolini its like if Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings had a Child and it has Dragon's which I also love ! I have read much more fantasy this year so I am definitely determined to start Brando Sando in 2025. Anyway hope you're feeling better all the best.
The inheritance cycle is on my list to read at some point!
@@lukesblog2 I didn't think I would enjoy Eragon myself but I ended up loving it.
I've seen so many videos about the Powerless series that I'm so wary of starting it
I shall have to pick up Tress. Also, Dark Matter sounds rather cool. Great content, as ever! 🙂👏🏻
I appreciate that you are willing to admit you enjoy doing things other than reading. I enjoyed Tress of the Emerald Sea. After finishing The Sunlit Man and The Frugal Wizards Handbook for Surviving Medieval England I found the way that these one off stories were interconnected was not ingenious. They were the first Brandon Sanderson books I had read.
Glad you liked tress, and I agree it could have been more than one book! I started mistborn yesterday and am already hooked.
Bloody love Sando!!
I'm sorry, what!? Reckless was AMAZING!!! I loved every letter of it, I finished it in one day and I can't wait for Fearless to come!!
Sorry but I can’t deal with it. The dialogue is so cringey and literally NO PLOT HAPPENED 😂 but it’s good people enjoy it!
@lukesblog2 I mean, yeah, I agree the plot wasn't as good as Powerful, but it really dug deeper into Kai Paedyn's relationship. The end really got me😭 but each of their thoughts about what the other was going to do and everything, I enjoyed it a looottt!
That was my frustration where Jude was angry at friends who tried helping. He refused therapy and instead Willam had to go thru therapy…I was soooo frustrated by the end. He promised Harold so he didn’t cut but still starved himself so he could die….? The Caleb scene was so disturbing…like how ruthless was he where Jude had to crawl to use bathroom and the way he was beaten for what…? And then Jude wouldn’t press charges. Everyone in his childhood abused him…? Like which child doctor would run over a kid???? I don’t know. I may be too fortunate to understand but I liked the writing 🤷🏻♀️
Yes I felt a lot of this too!
claire douglas is a brilliant writer. i jus read her ‘The Wrong Sister’ fantastic.
short chapters make the story move along but I don't mind longer chapters if the story engages me.
I agree with most of your list, but Sandersons work needs a lot of revision and editing. It wasn't bad, but the world building was info dumpy & meh, dialogue was weak & repetitive, the flat romance shouldn't have been there and the stakes are a flop. Just my opinion. Wanna fight me? I committed the first kinslaying bruv! 👊 👊 Cheers from Texas!
Everyone has a right to their own opinion. 😉 But Sando’s my favourite author. I’m not sure any other author could keep me reading for so long!
I missed the cut off for this but I would have picked Dark Matter.
ive never read any of the books you mentioned (might pick up Dark Matter) but i know The House in the Cerulean Sea profited off of both the cultural and literal g3n0cide of indigenous people. you should look up The House in the Cerulean Sea controversy for more information. id suggest Dark Matter just because the majority of people are also suggesting it?
Dark matter 🎉
Dark Matter 100%. A great read. It'll definitely make the time fly by. I haven't read the other 2, but they're on my TBR.
