This was just painful to listen to. Ayaan was very unconvincing. Dawkins was predictable. Both living in their quasi intellectual bubble. The approach to and type of embrace of Abrahamic Religious doctrine and belief in miracles is holding a lot of African nations back. She needs to take a trip to African nations. People believe their problems will be solved by miracles (by Christianity, Islam , others , name it) . Is this the kind of religion she advocates ? You can believe in a Creator, as there is enough scope to get to that point , you could even have a tentative personal belief and advance your society. Logic and being rational is also important .

I wish he had commented on her observation about the mocking a moderate religion has created a vacuum that is being filled by something quite repulsive. You can claim to know what science teaches us, you can claim you have a monopoly on true and false, but you cannot claim that learning from another's views, esp so well articulated by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, is useless.

I think Kathleen Stock is wrong. The right should fund universities where they'd want their children to go to. Some of the right will be more idealistic and will want to fund centres of excellence their kids might not even be able to get into! Those are the only kinds of universities sensible people need think about funding.

It's sad how we are missing the point. Her conviction is not as academic as we expect it to be. What are the most basic arguments for Christianity? Though not empirical or scientific, faith is real, and personal experiences related to faith do matter. As intelligent and reputable as her efforts to discredit Christianity are, her simple conviction is the big miracle. It can't be as logical using the same train of thought that made her flourish ideologically in atheism yet left her personally miserable. The claim of Christianity is that there is a personal God who relates to you personally, spiritually, and faithfully. The huge phenomenon is the propagation of this same claim experienced by millions of believers for more than 2000 years. She is even scared to debate with her former mentor, yet she can't deny her conviction. That alone, to me, is a miracle of Christianity.

Today, universities are not a repository for knowledge. In the past few decades universities became factories for inventing semi-plausible theories ('theories' which sound good but don't work). Theories to 'improve' (or destroy?) society with. Theories such as: Decolonialization, White Fragility, Queer Theory, Anti-racism, Decarceration, Anthropogenic Global Warming, String Theory, Intersectionality, ... At this stage, many Western Universities are beyond saving. Even were we able to save some of them, they'd go bad again just a little time later. Good to listen to people debate the fundamental defects. Maybe the University of Austin can learn from talks such as this? LOL. These social scientists don't realize how and why hard sciences have been badly damaged too.

I have never heard of this woman, but her history suggests to me that she panders to religion and schools of thinking based on her circumstances and fears at given moments in her life. In summary she is very anti-muslim and she wants this Islamic ideology to be countered by a strong movement and has adopted Christianity for her cause.

A new Christian. If moving from being a Muslim to a Christian is an 'upgrade', then the New Testament can be seen as an 'upgrade' from the Old Testament. And Christianity would have to be edited and 'updated' as regularly as new scientific discoveries and inventions are coming into our lives. And Being a Muslim gets tougher and more difficult to maintain without 'updating' Islamic teachings, stories and beliefs.

None of the religions that are derived from the Judea text are correct. Christianity didn't start until a century after Jesus had died. Jesus was not Christian and he did not write the bible! Politics and religion go hand in hand. None of them wanted to relinquish power to an invisible god. Because of the intense relationship between Jews and Romans, jesus was crucified. He died on the cross at the hands of egotistical 'leaders' and he did not come back to life 3 days later and disappear into the sky. The prophecy in the old testament was that he would be crucified and resurrected 3 days later (the same book that tells us a day to us is a thousand years to god). Mary was not a virgin, she was promiscuous to put it politely and Joseph wasn't even sure if he was his dad. God did not send Jesus to be killed for our sins. He was filled with the holy spirit once he was mature enough to understand. He spent 3 years preaching the best teachings anyone is ever capable of. He was killed at 33 and when the son of man returns he will not be known and will not know himself until he is 33. He will continue his ministry using great power and majesty... But with most of all, grace. Islam was created to counteract Christianity. Christians have lied or believed lies, and slaughtered people who refused. Islam created a response that gave their own people their own powerful book that they could use to retaliate with. Jews caused all of this with the craven nature and pure ignorance! Their saviour still hasn't arrived because Jesus was their saviour and they crucified him. Jews will continue to experience the wrath of god until they turn to jesus, you best believe! I am a prophet I'm here to give this message. It's a dangerous message for myself but I am spiritually strengthened beyond your comprehension!
