WW2 Rare Lighter Restoration After 80 Years in the ground
Join me as I carefully clean, repair, and bring this historic artifact back to life. From uncovering it in the dirt to the satisfying moment it sparks to life again, this restoration is a true labor of love. Don’t miss this unique glimpse into the past and the joy of restoring a lost relic!
The lighter was found in an European forest with a metal detector. While researching I found out that it was made in Austria in 1930's. The same lighters were produced and sold in the US after the World War 2 but they had slotted windguard holes and the fuel tank pulls apart to refill. They were known as Regens Pocket lighters.
💡The goal: to make it to work again and preserve as much as possible.

Restoration of WWII Mauser K98 Bayonet from 1940

In this video I'm restoring a World War 2 German bayonet which was used with Mauser K98 rifles. I found this bayonet myself on a WW2 battlefield with a metal detector. I tried to be as gentle as possible, I don't like taking too much metal off of historical pieces like this one. ☕️ Buy Me a Coffee! ko-fi.com/souliron It will help my channel grow & create more content. Antique Rusty Padlock Restoration | Perfect Restoration
This padlock looks truly amazing and unusual. My goal was to restore and preserve it, although some parts are completely destroyed by the rust. I tried to keep most of it original. And it also works! I found this old padlock in the forest while metal detecting. The house site is about 150-200 years old, so that's about the age of this lock. There's a video of me finding it on my other channel: ...
Ancient and very Rusty Viking Pick/Hoe Restoration
This is my first restoration video. Using only simple tools, I restored an ancient tool used for agriculture many centuries ago. It is a very rusty, hand-forged and robust piece that I find beautiful and authentic. My intention was to make it look not new and shiny but more Viking-like. As it would have looked like when it was used by simple people for hard work. I am still building and setting...
What is that green stuff used to polish the nets?
That is a polishing paste. They come in different colours and different grits, just like sanding paper. From more robust to really fine. With the paste you can make the metal surface to be like a mirror. I used it to slightly refresh the look, it was a bit dull.
@@soul_iron_restoration Thank You!
Is there any other procedure than argon welding to restore the broken edge of the bayonet? Fludor soldering, for example? I don't use the blade to cut.
@@alenalost2822 You can definitely solder the holes and the edge and then file and sand to make the surface smooth. It's easier than welding. With welding you could get even black finish because the welds are also iron like the blade. Solder will remain white, it doesn't react with the blueing solution. You might want to keep your blade white too, then the solder won't be very visible
I enjoyed, thank you.
I LOVE OLDER LOCKS AND KEYS,ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY LOOK AS GREAT AS YOUR WORK!!!

Hello! Can I ask what type of paint you used to paint the sleeve that won't chip off after a few months? Do you still have this bayonet? Hasn't the paint come off since then? You know, I have a Magyar FÉG 35M bayonet, the sheath of which was originally painted goosepoop-green, but mine was rusty, so I sanded off the rust and now I should paint it. I just don't know how to make it last.
Hi! Yes, I still have this bayonet and the paint is completely intact. I used Hardcore brand black matt spray paint but there're lots of suitsble paints out there. If your paint comes off it's either because of wrong paint or the metal being greasy/dirty. In any case you should clean before painting and i recommend to use the primer. It's much easier for the paint to hold onto primer than the bare metal. I didn't use one because I knew the bayo would be on a shelf at home and because the putty kinda works like primer too. Anyway, the paint on the sleeve seems strong. Good luck!
@@soul_iron_restoration Thank you very much for your help! Helped a lot. May I ask the name of the resin-like substance you used to fill the rust pits?
Happy to help! :) The resin is called putty. It is widely used for car body repairings. You can find it in any tools/hardware or car-related stores. Look for those suitable for metal as some of them are for wood. The process of using it can be seen in this video :)
@@soul_iron_restoration Thank you very much! 🙂
How awesome. Such a great work 👍👍
Thanks a lot! 🍻
k98 or g98 bayonets.
Where did you find it?
I found it with a metal detector in a forest. It was some sort of WW2 vehicle repair site
Great video. Cool lock. Wedding ring is simular to mine. Small vice , cute, very useful for small parts.❤😊
Thank you! I'm glad you like it ☺️
This is such a well made video. Especially if you consider the condition of this bayonet. Amazing!! Good job
I'm happy to hear that, thank you!
Omgggg, this is the best lamp I've ever seen!

Great! Just awesome! Bravo to the master!
I'm glad to hear it 🍻

Przepiękna jest ta odrestaurowany stary zabytkowy pistolet jedno szczałowy pozdrawiam twórcę tego filmiku serdecznie 👍👍👍👍
Thank you my friend!
Damn. To imagine that gun was used by a Soviet soldier in WW2. There's a story behind that gun that nobody will ever know. It's almost certain that the man that left that gun behind 80 years ago is dead.
Exactly! It's crazy to think it was in the ground for so long and probably was last used during WW2. Imagine how I felt when it finally fired after so many years :) Thanks for the comment!
Did you make a key ?
😁 *PromoSM*
Great! Productive and high quality!!!👍
Thanks a lot!
Considering the state of the gun, and quite basic tools, you did great work!
If you do decide to fire it, I would lock it in a vice and use a lonnnnnnggggg string to pull the trigger. Not sure how much chamber pressure such a gun developes, but the first shot would be via a string... Thumbs Up!
It’s perfect
Really nice restoration of that flare gun. questionable about it being in firing condition but being functional non firing would be good enough for me.
