Different breeds develop at different ages. I always follow my veterinarians advice as to when the horse is developed and ready for a rider. I know a few trainers that get them under saddle at two and then turn out until they mature with a few refreshers occasionally.

I've never seen a chicken auction or I guess it's a bird auction. 😁 I was a little sad wondering if some will be used for food, but I like chicken so I can't complain. I still love the chickens with the wild hairdos. Would love to see you get some llamas and donkeys. Jack, did you say you went to Vienna or are going? To answer your question about the pigeons at the sale, pigeon racing is becoming popular here in the US like it used to be back home in the UK back in the 70 and 80s. I used to know quite a few older guys in yorkshire that used to race/keep them. They're bringing good money here if they are from good stock but people that cant afford the registered stuff or just getting into them may go to the amish auctions for them. Also kids in shows will sometimes go there for them or other birds they're wanting to show either at 4H or other local shows.

I don't know where Fluffy Feather Farms are located but they sell adorable mini-Highland cattle. Check them out. They have so many adorable animals raised with great care.

Alpacas and female donkeys Jenny's are good to put with livestock that are going to have babies jacks are not good to put it with livestock because sometimes they will kill babies in Texas a lot of branches use alpacas or Jenny's in the pasture with goats and sheep that are going to be having offspring also a great idea for livestock guardian is Great Pyrenees my mom lives in Texas she has a large very large herd of goats and she has 10 to 15 Great Pyrenees that run with the whole herd each dog has its own job but she has never lost a kid and I have coyotes all over the place

And if you do not know straw hay is good for cattle goats animals that you want to have put weight on you're not really looking to conditioning in my horses you want to put weight on them that's what straw he is a filler

Even when it's a middleman they're usually going to be reputable and have good hey because if they didn't then they would go out of business really quickly I grew up on a farm we raised fields of hay and we would sell to middle man and the reason why is they would buy it and ship it to other states that did not have as much as we did and it was a way that you can get the hay to areas that would need it more we always raised quality hey because if we didn't reflect the bed on us people would not buy hay from us again if we did not have reputable hay. And we didn't have the time to ship it to other states so that's where the metal man comes in is he has the time to ship this hey to other states where it can be bought where it's needed
