@@TravellingWithTeens Oh fantastic, we really want to do that one but keep putting it off as we are always sun starved and looking for heat. You beat me to it, I was just going to say, you do like to be on the first sailing of the season.

No charge for sitting in the Sunset Bar or using the whirlpool (pay for drinks) and it's open 10am-11pm, and the whirlpools are open 8am - 8pm SKYDome & Bar are also free to use but there is a charge for using "The Retreat" sun deck - we didn't pay extra to use this and charges vary by sailing I believe and spaces are limited.

Yes you are right about the free water in the buffet, for hygiene reasons we fill a glass or coffee mug and then decant into our water bottles. On our first ever cruise 14 years ago, it took us 6 days to discover you got free tea and coffee etc in the buffet areas 😂

Plenty of wine to drink and soak up the atmosphere. @@keyovangsta12 Generally inflatables are banned on cruise ships as they take up space in the pools. Out of caution I would hire one on the island as your luggage is scanned before you board and I’m not sure if they will allow you to take them on board, solely to use on Ocean Cay. We didn’t see anyone carrying floaties to the island. 🏝️

It’s an awesome place to live, close to the sea and a large city, so much to see and do and the friendliest people in the world. 😍

Unfortunately there isn’t much shade on the island, when the vegetation matures more it may improve. Best suggestion is to head to lighthouse bay beach early and grab a free beach umbrella and move some chairs under it or pay $12 to hire one and take to another beach. Some of the beaches have shaded areas near the pathways under the trees which may be ok but not ideal as it’s further from the water. A lot of the beach bars have shaded seating but not very peaceful if you want to lay on a lounger and relax. When we go back we will definitely hire an umbrella just for a bit of relief from the sun. It is a gorgeous island despite the lack of shade and we thought it was the best stop on the trip but did feel a little frazzled after being out all day with no hats on 👏

Thank you 🙏 agree the smaller ships look fabulous, had a lot of comments that it’s great onboard Jewel of the Seas, we are guilty of going on all the new ships and forgetting about the smaller older ones which are just as good.
