The monster is complete! Looks and rides great! It’s actually kind of amazing to me how much faster it rides vs my other Stumpjumper considering they aren’t different mechanically. Riding position really does make a huge difference in the rider’s ability to produce power.

    The new Delta 68 is not made the same. Material is thinner and more flimsy. Pockets are more shallow and are not denim. Disappointing.

    It’s a cringey ad that never should have seen the light of day, heckuva lot less cringey than selling junky gold-plated watches for $100K and weird macho baseball cards IMO. Back to the topic at hand thank you for these reviews, I just got the tin cloth and denim versions of the short lined cruiser, both are awesome.

    The Riv Silver shifters are indeed a "copy" of the original Suntour ratcheting friction shifters. Apparently it was common for companies of the time to destroy the tooling when parts were no longer in production and as I understand Grant Petersen personally paid to have this tooling remade so that he could bring them back into production. They're a fantastic piece of engineering and a beautiful nod to a simpler time in cycling.

    I figured out an easy fix for the handle drooping like that. You just need to open the front leather snap tab, lead it through the grab handle and close the snap tab so it pulls the grab handle forward. If you hold it like that for a few days or maybe just even overnight, the handle should readjust itself.

    The placket has to be reinforced, since the main fabric, the waffle fabric is too much susceptible to stretching. The additional fabric is a webbing that fixates the placket flaps so these are both stiffer and keep their length over time. Basically what I want to say is that you cannot do it without any additional reinforcement, but sure is neatly done. Thanks for the review, the message is more important than the packaging, so surely is a good concept, those quick takes.

    Going from Rene Herse to Schwalbe Marathon Plus... I'd rather fix flats regularly than ride a tyre that's about as inspiring as concrete, but that's just me. My experiences with Marathons is that there's a lot of hype behind them, but as a local bike shop mechanic when I see them fail, they fail good and properly, often without warning. Instances include the wire beads poking through the sidewalls or just rattling around inside their casing. For heavy duty commuting tyres I'd recommend spending about half as much money and going for a Kenda Khan. My favourite inexpensive tyre is the Kenda K-Rad though, it's light and supple but I've had far fewer punctures on a K-Rad than the Maxxis DTHs I ran prior.

    • @JimLBon
      @JimLBon 3 месяца назад

      Well, if I have problems with these Schwalbe’s I’ll take your advice. I’ve had a lot of good luck with Kenda in the past. This bike is for business. I ride it slow, sub 20mph over 90% of the time and I use it for work. I’m not looking for inspiration, I’m looking for reliable transportation. When I’m on the clock I don’t have time to waste fixing my third flat of the week. If you want to see the bike I built for inspiration, see my 1991 Stumpjumper series.

    I bought the journeyman on a trip to DC at one of their stores. I wore it one time. ONE TIME. I tried to return it immediately after because the straps did not fit comfortably for long-term wear. I'm a woman, I have no idea if that is part of the issue but the bag sags even when the straps are at their tightest and it's uncomfortable. I told Filson that I had worn the item. I was very clear about the situation. I sent the bag back. They sent it back to me saying it was not saleable because it was worn. Yeah I told them that. I contacted customer service again because I can't beleive that a $500 bag isn't returnable after 1 use. I was denied again. They say it's their 'policy'. WTF kinda policy is that? They don't care at all about customer satisfactions. So yes I have a very expensive, cool looking, uncomfotable bag that I can't travel with as planned. I will never spend money with them again.

    • @JimLBon
      @JimLBon 5 месяцев назад

      Weird. I’ve returned worn items before more than once but this was in person at the flagship store. Never had a problem. I’ve noticed a lot has changed with Filson the last couple years. Outsourcing, moving what little US manufacturing they have left to CA. More frequent sales, the outlet online, unfailing, etc…

      OMG same shit from you on everyplace I see a review of this backpack! Do you think you could use a pair of shoes 1 time and return it??? People don’t want things that are used, is that so hard for you to understand? Am 100 percent sure that the shop could easily see it was used, that means you can’t return it. Yes, open it home and look at it is okay, then you can return it.

    • @GiftofGab
      @GiftofGab Месяц назад

      @@larsstenseth2351 but we aren't talking about shoes - it's a bag, and the Filson's return policy is terrible. So yes, I blasted my experience everywhere. Other people have a right to know so they don't make the same mistake.

    Great review! It is nice to see a comparison between some of the different colors. My late grandfather gifted me a red one of these shirts for my 18th birthday, and around 15 years later, it's still one of my favorite shirts to wear. It has a uniquely tight weave that I haven't found in any other garment. It's made in El Salvadore though, whereas it seems like most are coming out of Sri Lanka these days, according to the internet. I'm interested in getting another one in dark heather gray for a more neutral look. That is, if the quality is still the same.
