I Engineered Dinosaurs Using Source Code
Hey, since you used it in the video, I just wanted to let you know that the word "retard" is considered very offensive to some people. I'd avoid using it in the future, just in case.
Maybe if you use another tile to copy to/from. Instead of tile 0, use 1 or 2
@@gustavogcs1787 How's that gonna help?
Because it might be closer? That's a good thought! Thanks!
@KedrigernGaming but it measures steps in terms of actions performed, not in the distance traveled, so why would that matter? You're not measuring seconds, are you? This one is different from 7 Billion Humans!
That is what I thought too! But was a bit confused :D
For level 9 speed challenege I have an idea 1. outbox 2. inbox 3. if zero jump to 1 4. jump to 2 You should save few steps
That is genius! I feel this 'write it backwards' approach is gonna be the norm now. And I can't say I like it.
@@realdragon so we have the same idea then, it's the same thing I suggested in my comment
@ Yea maybe, I don't have brain capacity to understand code in non code format
I have an idea: what if you have the conditional part at the very start, then if zero you jump all the way to the top, otherwise jump to the inbox? And at the start of the program you jump to the middle to skip the conditional part. That way, you still have 3 jumps, but if the number is 0, you take 1 jump step per cycle, and if not, you take 2 steps to the unconditional jump. With your current solution, you go over 2 jumps each cycle
That could work!
i did almost everything in this game now, but never used poly ... thus just an idea: the companion is at most 3 tiles away. could it be worth it to plant and return and wait to harvest with bonus instead of handling multiple locations with list etc ?
Could be! When I made this, in my mind it was just normal carrot planting with an added bonus. So original "plant carrots always" transformed into "sometimes plant a companion instead". A little change and a lot of improvement. But really I think the carrots do take a long time to actually grow even if watered. So perhaps waiting would not be the best thing to do (they might have changed it or I might be remembering wrong)
I feel like for relaxing mode there's optimal ratio of multipliers and cards that add values. But would game be fun if you solve it?
I'm sure there is! Would be fun still but feel like I should just have an empty expression on my face and watch the numbers go up in this mode. "No thinking allowed" challenge
spoiler for the most simple, most stupid, most dirty, and most brutally forced maze algorithm: to get any gold at all (no matter how slowly) and be able to buy some upgrades (for writing better maze code), i wrote a short program with essentially three lines: 1. while true, 2. create maze with minimal size (1x1 !!! :-), 3. harvest with no need to search for the treasure. in the end, this was not even the worst timed attempt to get some gold when compared to a max size maze, moving a lot with lots of conditions and bookkeeping, a bad algorithm, and not reusing the maze. after maxing out the maze upgrades to 1000%, it takes something like 36 to 72 seconds to get 10k gold (rank #95 for 300k in less than an hour on the leaderboards)
That's smart! I had to go check because I was sure I was not able to do that before. But yeah, seems to come with the latest update that you can specify how large the maze should be.
Very nice video! I play the game and it is definitely more fun to play than it is to watch but you somehow made me watch this all the way to the end!
Oh wow! This honestly just made my day! Thank you
Either this is the same dev as Roll, or this dev played that game with a notepad.
Hey, developer here )/ I didn't develop ROLL but I do love that game, and Card Draw is indeed obviously inspired by it :)
@@oddeyesgames It looks like a fun twist on the mechanics
This was very relaxing to watch
Glad you think so!
Very good video !!!

Tyger tyger!
How do you play it it won't let me download the demo
That is super weird. I literally just went off the Steam page. No idea why it wouldn't let you download. Try again later I'd guess or worst case try the game on itch.
There was no problem for me, you need to download the steam demo not the itch demo that is only for browser
Ngl ur kinda bad at math for the strategy mode
You should have been using the second slot for all of your new cards unless they're your new best card; multiplier or add; you chose to swap the +78 for a x2 instead of putting the x2 where the x3 was, getting you 0; you did that thing like every time tho
Felt it might have been better not to lose the x3 for a while and sacrificing one hand (getting 0 points once). But yeah, not yet good at it for sure!
How does this have 38+mins of content??..
I went a little overboard there
Love your content, keep doing this and the 7 billion humans precuel, Human Resourses was it?
Thank you so much!!! Yes, Human Resource Machine - working on another episode for the next week :)
The second mode looks fun
It changes the strategy so much. I can't wait for the other modes.

Hey, developer here, thank you for showcasing the demo again!
I just love the game!
Any shot this can be on mobile?
@@adeptmage2293 A mobile version would be very nice, I'll definitely consider porting to Android and maybe even iOS if the game will do well on launch on PC :)
@@oddeyesgamesI can see myself playing this for hours on an iPad
Glad you're back to this
I might have gotten addicted a bit :D
As someone who used to learn a little bit about algorithm and coding, i can say. I only failed 1 level. I had to look up walkthrough for that because i cant do it. I did pass normally, but failed to optimize it further. So im pretty sure for most programmers, its not hard
I feel like it really depends on how your brain decides to work at that moment. So sometimes I can't figure out a puzzle because my initial thought that I am stuck with was wrong. And all it takes is to just sleep it off and forget it. And the next time I might nail it first go, fully optimized.
you barely harvest from more than one sunflower for a complete pass over the entire field. that gives very little power, probably not even enough to traverse all the sunflowers once : 1 power is used for 30 normal commands like move, harvest, plant, etc, and just a little (roughly based on the execution times) for the other faster commands. and if you do only a single or very few sunflowers on an entire pass (80 tiles require more than 80 moves, at least 3 power when not harvesting or planting anything else), it might be almost the same result if you only have a single sunflower on the entire field and then could avoid all the code to measure the max petals, etc. :-) i think that getting power is important, but that it would require concentrating on that task, having only sunflowers on the entire field, and using a different algorithm to harvest them more effectively, eg going directly to one of the sunflowers that can be harvested with the 5x bonus, or collecting all of them (ignoring the petals) for normal power. of course going directly to the best sunflower would require a different datastructure/organization to save the number of petals AND (most of all) also their locations. btw: it is possible to create a list of lists (a 2-dimensional array) ... {more spoilers on my solution only if you really want/need them} ps: maybe the old version of the game required to harvest one of the sunflowers with the most petals or else would reset the entire field (too long ago, i don't remember), but the newest version allows harvesting any sunflower for the 'normal' amount of power and such a max sunflower for five times that amount. it is beneficial to harvest that max one, but could also mean to simply harvest(delete) and replant it for a new amount of petals, or simply ignore it and go to another one with less petals (eg one that has the least petals since that probably is pretty old and ready for harvesting) and get the standard lower amount of power (still better than waiting and spending power).
Thanks for this comment! Glad you went in depth like this! I fully agree with everything. I tried solving the puzzle in any way and it worked and was fine. Later I realized this issue of waiting and harvesting only a single plant. Eventually wanted to just reset the field after a few passes. You were right that the puzzle used to work differently. Only harvest the plant with the most petals. That would give you the power of all the plants on the field. Harvest any other plant and you get nothing and all the plants die. Have not yet gotten to the new version of the puzzle though but will be nice to figure it out again from scratch and maybe avoid some of the mistakes I made and re-design the whole solution.
@@KedrigernGaming thanks. watching a new playthrough (using old knowledge of the language, but having to do most things at least a little different) will be very interesting. since I'm a bit busy, i am currently still working on the last two parts (improving dinosaurs, and the maze, as well as finally the leaderboard), and once again it was fun. eagerly waiting now for your new attempt including the leaderboard :-)
Means a lot 😊 will do my best not to disappoint. Feels a bit daunting though. So much has changed under my hands so the code I have is basically unusable and I need to redo most of it. Not to mention some of the puzzles got changed completely 😂
Oh, it's basically an assembly! The old jump is like _jmp,_ and the new jump is like _jz_
You're quite good at it, you should be a programmer
You really think so? Might give it a go then!

i didn't get it
Sorry to hear that! Really think it's worth it.
What's the game called?
Human Resource Machine
WHY do you need two variables for the same data? My programmer ass is crying rn
Well at first I didn't know the data would stay there :D
The Ravenclaw Robe is so good and I was happy to get it. I then got it for the other Houses. Slytherin and Hufflepuff are okay, but the poofy collar on the Gryffindor is kind of lame.
You are absolutely right!
You really like the word impossible and its "steps" not time, so each command and jump is a step, no matter if the code is looping or hard coded or what speed the game is running at
As for the 2nd level try: Inbox Outbox Inbox Outbox Jump to start it causes the code to have less jumps making it faster
Okay now that's some next level coding! A bit afraid it might fail if the number of cubes is not even but let's see. Thank you!
@ If it fails then it truly is impossible :p
@@KedrigernGaming why would it fail? Your initial code is an infinite loop to get an infinite sequence of inputs and outputs, so the game stops the solution when you completed the task. So why would you care if the amount is even or odd? The game will stop it anyway, it doesn't have to be before the jump...
I might be remembering wrong but I think that I tried hard coding many in/out commands and it failed as there were too many commands and the code execution wasn't completed. That was the feeling I got. But I realize that technically with a jump the code is never 'finished'
Now that is hybrid bruteforce
oh, this is just little man computer
Reminds me of Roll. Looks very fun
This is a very good optimization strategy game. Apparently if you refresh the shop more you get better cards.
It is a great game, yeah! My guess was that the cards in shop depend on the overall value of my deck. So after buying a few good cards and burning the bad ones, the value increases and the shop matches it.
You should try the new game mode in the steam demo
I will! Already looking forward to it!
Hi, developer of the game here )/ I wanted to thank you for playing the game and for being so supportive about it! I've been a fan of the channel for quite some time now and it's nice to see you enjoy the game so much :) Also, as a note to the other fans reading this, the version of the game you saw in this video is just a very small prototype of what will become the full game. As the quick note text says at 0:12, an updated demo is already up to play on Steam with leaderboards, new cards and abilities and a fresh new game mode. If you decide to try the new demo, please let me know what you think about it, feedback helps a lot :)
Thank you!! I really enjoy playing the game so Im looking forward to trying out the demo as well. By the time the video left the editing room, the demo has already come out but that is on me!
Feedback for the demo: Great game, but *I already have it wishlisted*. Please stop asking me after *every single interaction in the menu*. (especially with such a guilty looking reject option "No Thanks :-("
@@megaing1322 you are right about the repetitive wishlist popup. For now, there is an option in the settings to show the wishlist popup less often throughout the game (it won't show it when you restart or exit a run, only when you quit the game). Unfortunately, I have only one way to ensure players remember to wishlist my game, which is to show the popup as frequently as possible, but on the other end I have no way of knowing if a player already wishlisted my game so I can avoid showing them the wishlist popup (Steam rightfully won't grant me access to players' wishlist).
This reminds me of Roll, which was really fun. I'll be watching your career with interest.
Now I was waiting for this and I absolutely love this reaction to the changes.
Glad I did not disappoint 😂
Ah yes, just like the Python language, they have replaced the entrie language 2 times since creating it, there's Python 1.x, 2.x and 3.x.....
Hate the language even more now
This is why the last farmer had to be replaced, you can do it man. I have faith.
Because he quit? Not surprised! Thanks for your faith in me!
You did the unthinkable!
Wow, that's a lot of important things for them to change out of nowhere -_-
They should have made it to be the last puzzle - "Your code is now broken. Lolz, good luck"
Yeah backward compatibility isn't a big thing with python I noticed. Like changing form python2 to python3 also breaks existing programs, so I guess the game is accurate to how it works
Oh damn! This game is getting more and more realistic! I have the added bonus of code reviews - getting yelled at in the comments. Surely next step is getting paid.
@@KedrigernGaming Getting paid is a RUclips feature
Python and other stuff follow a version format like A.B.C, A is incremented when a change that breaks old code is made, B is incremented when a feature is added that doesn't affect old code, and C is incremented for bug fixes. Makes sense why Python 2 code is broken in Python 3, etc..
Actually I'm happy you went for this game first - the beta of the other one got a very unstable update just as I was suggesting it to you, but by the time you're reading this comment the new issues are almost fixed and less of a problem, although there are still more things to fix
Good! For me it was more about the transition to this game being simpler which is what I needed now. But glad it worked out this way then.
