Nerding In My 30s
Добавлен 16 мар 2023
Thank you for visiting my channel! I am Nerdy30, and I am Nerding in my 30s! I am a late blooming nerd who has reconnected with the nerdy beginnings of my childhood. I grew up playing Sega Genesis, Gameboy Color, and PS2. As I grew older I moved into PC gaming. By the time I left high school I left my passion for gaming in the past. Fast forward a million years and I have rekindled the passions I once enjoyed in my youth. This channel will focus on computer builds of the budget orientation, game hunting, building my gaming collection, and anything else I do along the way. Once again thank you for your time and I can't wait to see where this journey takes us!

5 dollar game collection flip challenge
Просмотров 906 месяцев назад
This is the 5 dollar game collection! The rules are simple. I have 5 dollars to try to flip my way up to grow a video game collection! Inspired by retro ricks 10 dollar game collection, I took the rules from Phoenix resales mission switch where I have to grow the expected profit pool in order to be able to buy bigger items. The twist is that the profits do not carry over from episode to episode!

Getting me a p520 to make a budget gaming pc with a gtx1070
Great choice! With the RTX 30, 6012 GB card I had in it I could run multiple 1440 P monitors game at high settings with no issues on my P5 20. I have since sold that card and I’m looking to upgrade to something a little more powerful, but I really really do like that P520. When I’m done using it for my daily driver, I’m gonna use it as a test bench to test graphics cards since it’s such a powerful computer for the Price. Thank you for your comment!
How old are you ?
I’m in my 30s, hence the channel name!
@Nerdy30s O that means sens lol
i have an i3-8100, and the gtx 1050 could i posselby run fortnite???
Thank you for your comment. Yes I would think that with those specs depending on your RAM you should easily be able to run Fortnite on performance mode near 180fps and 1080p low closer to 150fps. Good luck!
Happy New Years man! I subscribed!

How much do you profit from each system? What price are these listed for? Who pays for shipping on eBay?
That’s a good question. The first system I made 110 in profit and sold it via Facebook marketplace. I listed the second system on eBay for 160 shipping included and after it was all said and done I took home 120, which 80 was profit. The current system with the 1030 is listed at 140 and hasn’t sold yet. I always include free shipping in my listings and add about 20 dollars to the price to cover it.
@ Thanks for all the information! I’m 33, and inspired to shop eBay for machines to flip, think I’ll try the marketplace route! I greatly appreciate the reply! Let’s see how much money we can make with this side hustle lol,
@@Nerdy30sYou should charge shipping, so eBay doesn’t charge all the final value fee from your added shipping. You inspired me to do the same. I got a few Dell Optiplexs from eBay and paid $21 in shipping. But scooped up $35 desktops. With 7th gen i5 cpus. Plan is to upgrade them to 16gb and 256nvme and install windows 11.
I’m in my 30s 😂 what’s up!!!
Welcome! It’s a fun club isn’t it?
I just ended up building a gaming pc from my old parts as a gift, and man I could not work on pc's as a living. This is simply just because of software issues being a huge pain to debug. The build was having boot issues and I had to disable fast startup in windows and pull the CMOS to fix the blue screens on boot I was getting. Well I'm not sure what exactly fixed it as I did multiple "fixes" at once. If I didn't develop software I bet I would have never figured it out. Anyhow this is all to say that I think what you're doing takes a lot of skill and determination to do, so good luck on your ventures.
yeah, the software side is what kills this for me. I absolutely love every step of the way until it comes time to press that power button lol...
Well thank you so much for your kind words! I do enjoy the troubleshooting aspect of PCs. I work as an electronics technician and love getting into the weeds with figuring out what works and what doesn’t.
Yoo
Yooo!
im trying to build a mid tier gaming pc right now with an i7 11th gen 32gb ram and 1660 super these optiplex systems have been selling like hot cakes in my area i have sold 3 in a week keep up the grind its fun for sure
I agree! Those older computers are still great for a lot of people.
Niceeeee
Thank you!
nice i just sold a dell optiplex 7040 for $75 with i5 6500 16gb ddr4 no gpu with mouse keyboard and monitor i had $20 in it 10 for the pc and 10 for the monitor i dont make videos its just a hobby but none the less i respect the grind
Thank you for your comment. I started it for fun and over the years I have had a lot of people tell me I should put it on RUclips.
@@Nerdy30s i enjoy watching others build or flip pcs so itll be an interesting ride but im im here for its also nice to learn from it too
@@sierrahixom thank you for your support. I too enjoy following others progress. Everyone has their own special ways of doing things
thats a honda crv camping table i have one also how cool saludos from juarez mexico
I have two! I had a 97 rd1 that I loved driving off road, but the transmission went out on it. I’d like another one some day.
Hey, so you have me curious. What OS are you installing on these systems and what function are you intending for them to server? A. they are 8 generations behind in CPU, so they wouldn't be daily drivers for gaming or office task. B. Sub 1080GTX or better wouldn't be worth wild for Plex, or Jellyfin servers. However with much less investment you could install Linux on them and configure them as NAS, or MeshCentral control servers. This would up their value closer into the $200~$300 range. Especially if you configured them as MeshCentral Routers seeing as how many people charge $150 simply for setting that up. You could go a step further and do a Linux + MeshCentral + File Backup Server with investment of a 10TB Helium drive off Amazon for $40. putting them into the $500 range. Just food for thought. ^_^
Woo that’s quite a thought! I run windows 10 on these budget machines. I live in central Arkansas and there is a demand for budget oriented machines here that I have found solid success in since Arkansas is one of the poorer states in the country. While support for windows 10 will end next year, that doesn’t mean that the OS can’t still be used for awhile longer!
TRUCK
Yes! Next episode I’m hoping to cover what I’m looking for in a truck *cough Ford F series or maybe a ram 1500 cough*
gna hurt your back flipping all those pcs make sure you life with your knees
Thank you for your comment! I try to keep everything at waste level
people by them knowing that thay won't be able to run windows 11 next year ?
I’ve had a lot of success selling older PCs. I mention it in the listings and haven’t had an issue yet. You can install windows 11 on legacy machines by tweaking a file or two in a boot manager program such as Rufus.
Gl
Appreciate it!

Man I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the results. I really need to find a crt monitor.
Have my 2 consumer sets but crt pc monitors are getting so tough to get without paying tons for shipping
I'll have to show off some of my CRTs soon!
@Nerdy30s looking forward to it. Also, in my 30s , I will forever be a 90s kid regardless of age.
@@NERD-FROM-THE-SOUTH yes! I absolutely will always rock the 90s. Best decade to grow up in. Times were simple but the technology boom made for unforgettable memories in gaming.
hi pal just subbed im from the uk and i love big ford f350s! i no there more industry based but there starting 2 look really good
Thank you for your comment! Yes I have an f250 and f350 as work trucks and they are beastly!
Hay I have 11 older desktops I don't use I'm willing to trade for 1 i5 rig
I have the best P520 build that I’ve seen so far either on Reddit or YT. Wish I could show everyone
Homie can you send me the build pls, I’m upgrading my p520 at the moment
Bro I was looking at an eerily similar one on marketplace and to be honest it wasn’t to bad they did have the specs listed it had a 2060 but was being sold for 600£ like wtf
Are you able to close the panel of the case?
Yes I am! Thank you for your comment
Im cool. I just need a Crtv
I remember I had a similar setup to the minimum requirements back then but it was a little bit better with 8gb of ram and a 4th gen i3 It did run the game ok ish with a 40 fps average on the bare minimum settings. That was 6 years ago and the game has since become more performance heavy with every update, mostly on the CPU side. A 3rd gen ryzen 5 back then was amazing for the game 4 years ago, nowadays I can't keep the game at stable frames with that CPU
thanks for sharing. we came here to see what 2023 was like. we will be at 2024.
Thank you so much for your comment. I enjoyed 2024 very much.

found a 3060 ti pc in pawnshop for 400$ and a 4070 with a i7 13700f one for 800$
That’s a fantastic deal.
Bro My pc specs are i5 4th gen and i am getting average 200 fps in minecraft java edition so smooth experience
What else are you running? Ram, gpu etc
@@Nerdy30s I have 12 gb of ram and I am playing on low settings means I just change fancy to fast
@@Nerdy30s I thought that this gpu should be better than r5 340x 2gb but I was wrong it's resolution settings is so bad and also there is no latest support like AMD doing on Radeon series
i made a laptop motherboard work from garbage. all i know is that it has 8 gigs of ram. couldent find a boot drive for it so i will have to wait a few days for a nvme drive to come in. yay!
That’s exciting!
Do you know if it would be possible to run davinci resolve with this card? Intel Xeon W-2133 6-Core 3.60 ghz with 48GB ram.
It looks like it will run it! It meets the minimum requirements for resolve. Thanks for your comment
these gpu was and is very nice for older dell servers like r910 who who still have them. as build in gpu is horible and pcie slot power limited to 25w and gpu that run at 25 was and is pretty rare.
I was surprised with how well it run considering I was able to toss it in a desktop. Install some drivers in 10 minutes and I actually won a match of Fortnite
@@Nerdy30s indeed i put it server and i am able run software i wasnt able before
@@ChaotixAsbestos that’s fantastic. I love finding uses for old hardware.
I got one of these just the other week and its not a bad little card to be fair just dont try playing anything AAA
Thank you for your comment. Yes it is a nice card for some budget gaming
I have 8 gb ddr3 1333mhz, gt 1030(overcloked to 2050mhz) and can't run this probably 10 years old hdd fault
Thank you for your comment. I would agree.
No one should be using HDD in 2024. SSDs are cheap nowadays.
I'm getting some for these small form desktops someone left 2 on the side of the road for spring cleaning. I don't have any low profile cards so I have to buy some. I see these graphics cards for about 8 bucks on eBay. They have i5 4590 and 16GB DDR3 and 256GB SSDs the motherboards max at 32GB they are still useful. I'm selling one and I'm giving one to my old boss he never played games but does a workstation type of stuff on a 12 year old piece of junk. This will smoke his old PC even with GDDR3.
Thank you for your comment! I was pleasantly surprised with how well it performed. I picked up its big brother the FirePro w5100 to test soon.
did you consider that onboard GPU uses your system ram as graphic memory?
I did. Yes. The idea behind minimum specs is that the game should be somewhat playable. It was not. Thank you for your comment.
KEEP IT
Thank you for your comment! I wound up trading the Pokémon 3ds for a cib copy of harvest moon 64 which is one of my favorite games
@@Nerdy30s I don't blame you
Awesome vids my guy. I too build and play with any and all pc's I come across. I got a bunch of old office pc's recently. The oldest one I'm currently testing is an lga 1366 xeon based dell with 12gb of 1333mhz ram and a gt1030. It's been fun playing genshin and neverwinter and halo 3 + 4. Lol. Build on my guy. Have fun.
Thank you for your comment! I do enjoy the older stuff way more than the newest offerings. There’s a challenge to making old hardware performance
Does fortnite need a good gpu because i got a gt 220 geforce?
Thank you for your comment! Fortnite performance mode may run ok with the gt220 IF it is paired with a decent processor since performance mode shifts the bulk of the load off the graphics card to the processor. However, pricing on graphics cards has gotten so cheap that you could easily upgrade for next to nothing.
@@Nerdy30s Thank you for answering!! I'll try to get a new processor, My CPU is an i5 intel 2500K 3.30GHz.
that gpu have dx10 so if you want even open game you need gpu that have dx11
Haha My dad had one of those. I'm sure it's buried in a closet somewhere.
Thank you for your comment! I am looking forward to delving into it!
I have one on its way to me now. It's gonna be my gaming/editing rig.
It has been an impressive 1440p machine
Turbo
That is the plan
Budget is the word. 4GB is too low for Win10/11 let alone trying to run any apps/games. 8GB is a more realistic minimum. For a budget build to handle most e-sports games, you need a dedicated GPU. However, an SSD will also contribute to a better playing experience. Keep up the great work and thanks for these informative videos!
Thank you so much for your support. I did forget to mention I was running a 256GB ssd. I think that this video shows a real disconnect between the developer and their product. I can not think of any way to make the game work on 4GB of Ram. The developer should be monitoring performance and adjust system specifications as required.
