Sorry guys, a lot off goofy me in this one lol just go to the parts you need. There is and interesting fix on an exposed wire in there, I thought it was quite good considering I was on the spot.     It's so sad to see a brand new 261 in such a state 😢 I have the ms261cm and absolutely love it. Hopefully, it never suffers the same fate. Great job, by the way

      @@tuberocker69 💯 yeah for sure! Such great saws! Yeah I was pretty sure it as an Mtronic fault that caused over revving and then it blew out a gudgeon clip. Well as best as I can remember anyhow.

      Stihl don’t use hex mate, that’s the other brand that we don’t talk about on this channel lol 😂 Stihl use torx drivers it will be a T27, T25 or T20 of my memory serves me correctly

    Hi. Its 54mm cylinder? What brand you used. I have 50 mm stock 440 cylinder. I wonder if it aftermarket 54 is better

      Hey mate, it’s a farmertec one, they are okish, this was just a fun build for me, I don’t know how long it would last as a full time working saw but it’s still going really well at the moment. Frank has tackled some decent stuff with his 25” bar. Hyway or Meteor would be better brands for a working saw if your going after market. Thanks for watching.

    Now I know why there are no youtube vidio that describe the coil wiring at the combo choke on off switch in the past like 15 years ago it was so simple. I replaced the coil and now have a "no stop" issue and you have convinced me to not take it apart but i did learn a lot from your video. I know the wires are OK as I checked for continuity just can't see how the stop part of the switch actually works I am assuming it is the black wire that controls on/off. Tough to work on such small parts even more difficult to do the video BRAVO MS 261c

    You have the base gasket on wrong , the tab should be on the same side as the impulse hose

      @@kiwilad4216 , You know it’s funny there’s really no difference in the gasket dimensions either way but from the factory and if you look at any parts breakdown diagram you will see the tab facing up on the side of the impulse hose and intake boot…!

    Great series. Do you happen to know if that newer black plastic brake cover and the newer clutch cover will fit on the older "pre facelift" ms261s?

    OMG! where did you get a LEFT-HANDED saw at? I am lefthanded and never seen one in the USA, All the saw here are right-handed. nice video. Once you tear one of these saws down they get pretty easy to work on .

      I used to use lithium grease but it actually carbons up when the saw star. What I do now it just lightly lube everything up with 2 stroke oil just so it has something to start with. Thanks for watching! Stihl for life! 😎

    Prob is there shit an also the chain can move alot means bad cutting. Twists doesnt cut.

    Helpful vid, thanks mate. The chainsaws I use at work keep playing up where the clutch drum becomes loose and wobbly. I suspect a poorly maintained bearing and worn clutch drum is the cause.

      @@robertblalock5009 ok mate, yeah I had connection issues during the vid, sorry. Take the air filter cover off and take off the spark plug lead, then there should be one flat head screw on the top of the cover surrounded by a rubber ring, unscrew that and it should come of easy

      The dealership where I bought it years ago said it was not cost worthy to fix it. I am gonna try to find some parts and see if I can redo it. If it don't run any more I will know that I tried. Burns me to hear someone say "I can't do it" . If it don't run it's mine I paid for it. Thanks for the return on the response.

      You will have to buy new from Stihl for this model as it’s Mtronic or get a second hand one. Sorry mate, hope this helps?

    I'm thinking about a 261 so enjoyed this video. It looks like you could use a few spring tools. Thin walled stainless tubing, half of the end ground or milled away, works great for springs like the one you fought with in the brake mechanism area.

    A bit confuse, do you need the generator under the flywheel? On the manual part list its there but you are not using it, why?

      There’s no generator under the flywheel mate, that sounds like and older saw to me, the 070’s and 090’s had that configuration with the flywheels, this is a MS460 build the flywheels are solid and spark to the coil next to them.

      Hey dude! Yeah that makes right, the guy I built it for is was using it in a mill, we swapped out the 070 head for the 090 head to give it more power! I don’t know if it is still running as my mate sold the mill with that saw on it. It was running fine while he had it though, never missed a beat! Thanks for watching

      Ok thanks for that. Sorry one last thing do you remember how long roughly he was running it before he sold it? Sorry Ive been thinking of doing the same thing to run a mill then saw your video on the build. I've got a couple Mountain Ash trees I want to mill so need big power and one will need an 80"bar and wasn't sure if that extra power was too much for the clone saw.

    I'm a Husqvarna guy new to building saws I've built two jonsered 625s a Husqvarna 61 a Husqvarna 51 and a Husqvarna 281 got them all running great but I just came across two 460's that I'm gonna tear down and make one good one it shouldn't be any issue after watching this series. You don't gotta hate on Husqvarna so hard the old ones are good quality saws if you take care of them we're people too somebody might take offense to all that cursing Husqvarna.. lol jk.       @@stephendeacon4039 not a Chinese one I’ve build 3 toppy’s on my channel and they have all been Stihl from memory, I have built an 070 and a 440, they are ok but the AV mounts are shit, I would recommend changing those to OEM parts.

    Dude that's a brilliant setup! I love it! You should tweak it and work out everything you need to work out and produce like say 5 of them and start slow! I'm sure there are plenty of DIYers that would totally buy it. Do it!
