How often should you be sterilising the pump parts? should they be sterilised after every use?

The instructions need to be revamped in this video and instruction Manuel. I have to search Hugh and low for a clear answer on what to sanitize and what not to

Are we sure we should be putting boiling water on the plastic?

This video is confusing. Do boil then don't boil. And "Use soapy water and rinse thoroughly" is on the "Don't screen." I'm guessing it's saying that the following parts SHOULD be washed with soapy water, but this is presented in a confusing way.
It is recommended to boil all parts except the backflow protectors and duckbill valves. Tubing does not come in contact with breastmilk and should never be washed. I thought you couldn't get the tubing wet and that you had to replace them if you did? I sanitized all the parts without closely reading the manual first so the inside of my tubing is currently wet.
Hi Senora. Yes, the tubing doesn't need sanitizing as it never comes in contact with breast milk. You can try and hang it to air dry, but if it takes a while, we recommend replacing it.
My wife’s spectra pump is making a noise, and there is no suction.

There is new research out there regarding proper sizing of the breast shields. The information came out last year. This is outdated information that needs to be updated.

Yes you can. But no more than 5 minutes.
I have a problem with my screen and the light. Every time i turn on the night light mode the screen goes blank. When i turn off the night light the screen goes back on. What do i do?

Yes, but not more than 5 minutes or the parts will warp.
Sooo question.. if the 3-piece UFO looking thing only has one side, if I understand correctly, which comes in contact with the milk, do all 3 parts still need to be cleaned and sterilised?
Yes. The Backflow Protector and its' 3 parts, need to be cleaned after every use.

Can I use the Dr Brown’s electric sterilizer? The cycle on the machine is 8 mins.

the first step says to remove and sanitize silicone parts separately under boiling water for no more than two minutes, and says that includes the nipples, but the video doesnt show the nipples in the strainer for this step, just the duck valves and backflow silicone pieces. it also looks like they put the nipples in the boiling water with the plastic parts for 3-5 minutes. so which is it for the nipples, 2 minutes or 3-5 in the pot? Also, if all pieces are dishwasher safe, which is what the manual says, can't I just run all these parts through the dishwasher on a sanitize cycle?
No more than 2 min for nipples along with the white silicone pieces. No more than 5 min for plastic accessories. Yes! They are dishwasher safe and can be used on the sanitize cycle. Good luck!

Unfortunately, there is currently no settings to check hours pumped on the 9Plus. Keep in mind, all Spectra Baby USA pumps have a 2-year warranty regardless of hours used. Happy Pumping!

Sorry but what does she have in her mouth? I had to turn on the volume so high to be able to hear what she is saying. Also confusing video. Why can’t we use the sterilizer & drier machines (like we do with Medela parts)???
I use the Avent microwave sterilizer. Should I not? Assuming they didn't mention it because it's a different brand? I used the pot at first but it feels dangerous to have a boiling pot and newborn near one another so often
You can, but they're hard on the parts, so you'll probably need to replace them a bit more often. Medela says the same thing about their parts.

This video is a bit confusing. For the boiling water method, do you boil the water first, put the pump parts in, then take out after 3-5 minutes OR put all the parts in the water, bring to a boil, wait 5 minutes and then take out??
Agree I was just about to ask the same oddly!
Once the water reaches boiling point, turn off the heat and then submerge accessories in boiling water - the water should continue to boil. Remove accessories after 3-5 min. You can message our LCs directly at ibclc@spectrababyusa.com. Congratulations on your breastfeeding journey!
@@spectrababyusa1010 how does this work for Induction cooktops? Unlike gas/electric stoves, the water does not continue to boil for more than a second or two once it’s shut off.
@@marys5090 just put it lower. don’t turn off. The water should be at 100C to sterilize. If u turn off, it won’t boil and it ain’t sterilization.

When should you measure the website says not while you are pregnant but I am going to pump since day 1 of birth

What do you do if the pump continuously runs and won't turn off?
As a safety feature, ALL Spectra breast pumps shut off after 30 minutes.

I'm a retired technical writer. I know how much complicated work goes into making things look simple. This is beautiful and clear! The only thing I think I'd add is an arrow that points to which end goes towards the pump. Because the protector top and bottom look similar, I think that it might be easy for someone to try and connect it the wrong way. Even though it may not fit or work when connected the wrong way, an arrow would help someone avoid some frustration.

I measure my nipple as 18 which some things say I would be a 24 and some says 21. The 24 pulls so much areola into the tunnel and it rubs. I’m trying a 21 but I’m worried I’m just between sizes and both just won’t work correctly.

Isn’t the faster massage mode the letdown mode? Expression comes after to get out the majority of the milk.

I boiled my parts before first use and since have been washing the parts with antibac wash after each use and airdrying. Is this correct? Or should I be boiling after each use? Thanks
