Watch this before selecting new Electricity Plan. My Excel table for comparing the Electricity plans
With cost of Electricity rising ever higher, I thought I'd share my Excel table, which I created for comparing the different electricity plans. I think it is a simple and pretty straight forward way to get a good idea of what your potential Electricity bill might be. I do make some assumptions here, such as I use my latest bill to get the usage and Solar generation numbers, but still, this little Excel table has served me well in the past 3 years.
I only compare plans from Origin Energy here, but you can pretty much do it with any given number of providers. I hope it helps or at the very least, gives you some ideas for how you can do it.
Thanks for watching and as always - please leave your...

Posting this out of pure frustration. PTO Clutch (responsible for Engaging and disengaging the cutting deck) has failed on my Cub Cadet RZT-S after just 96 hours of use. It was just days outside the 3 year warranty period, but unfortunately, according to the dealership, because I have not taken the machine in for service (which is basically an oil change at 50 hrs) - I am not covered by the War...
Growing Dragon Fruit on trellis in SEQ Brisbane.

My new project for growing heaps (hopefully :) ) of Dragon Fruit here in South East Queensland. After watching several videos of how it is done on the farms, mostly in South-East Asia, I am trying to emulate some of the practices I've seen. It's the early days, but initial results are very encouraging! Enjoy the video! Please Like, Share and Subscribe and post your questions and comments, all o...
Growing Feijoa as Screen hedge in SEQ, Brisbane - 12 month update. Doing well!
Просмотров 2083 месяца назад
12 month update on growing Feijoa as a hedge screen. Definitely a good progress, but a small disaster along the way as well. Half of the screen is dead due to water pooling in the planting holes. The rest, however, is doing great! I am very pleased with it, and would recommend you try it as well, if you have a need for good, dense and useful evergreen hedge, which will also produce delicious fr...
Growing Davidson's Plum from tube stock in South-East Queensland

This is a short video about my progress on growing Davidson's Plum in South-East Queensland. I have planted it in a kind of tropical forest setting on my property, where there's shade and soil is nice and moist for the greater part of the year. Some plants have been in the ground for around 18 month, while other, younger plants have only been planted around 6 month ago. All of the plants were b...

    Thank you for this video! Great to see how well (most of) the plants grew in 12 months. We've just planted feijoas for hedging in our backyard so it's great to see how it could look in 12 months' time.

    Hi, nice hedge. Just wondering if the Qld fruit fly is a problem in your area? If so, how will you deal with it? Here in suburban western Sydney feijoa fruit are ruined by fruit fly. After trying to get a crop for two years I bought fruit fly nets. They work very well. I have 12 feijoa trees, four of them in a hedge. I use two nets for the hedge - each covering two trees. The trick with all my feijoa trees is to prune back to about 8ft height. Nets are weighed down on the ground with bricks. What variety of feijoa did you take cuttings from? I have Mammoth and Apollo that I am marcotting (air-layering) at the moment, but I also want to succeed with taking cuttings. Watched your earlier video on your success with feijoa cuttings and hoping I can get a 60-70% take too! Very impressive.

      Hi! Thanks for your comment!We do have a fruit fly here in SEQ as well. I think netting is the best way to go. I think I mostly have the most common Feijoas, which is sold as Seloviana type. At least that's what the label on them said. I do have 2 Mammoth Feijoas, which I planted purely for the fruit. No fruit on them yet, but once they start to produce- I will definitely put nets over them. Good luck with your project!

    Hi, we have a Feijoa hedge. It’s a great easy care hedge with the bonus of the fruit. The only thing I would suggest is that perhaps using a few different varieties to spread out the fruit harvest. I have five varieties and the fruit from February to mid June.

  • @butterflyj685
    @butterflyj685 8 месяцев назад

    Wow that's amazing that you had great success from cuttings. I've always heard that it's difficult and much easier to air layer Feijoa Guavas. I'm creating a hedge too. I wanted different varieties instead, so far I have 7 named varieties I got from one green world and my seedling I got from a local nursery.

    How long did it take you to root them? What kind of rooting hormones and growing medium do you use? Do you use a heating pad underneath? I love this fruit and am pushing it to fruit in a garden zone that isn't perfect for them. What kind of ground preparation do you do before planting? Thanks so much.

    • @LivingontwoacresQueensland
      @LivingontwoacresQueensland 8 месяцев назад

      Hi! Thanks for your comment! I did not use any hormones, but instead dipped the bottom of every cutting in honey. No heating pad was used, may be because our climate is pretty warm (I am in South-East QLD). As to soil prep, nothing special, as I mentioned in my video, the soil where my plants are growing is pretty poor. All I did, was adding some composted manure in to the planting hole. Hope this helps and good luck with your project!

    Hey that's a clever and cheap method of propagating your cuttings.

  • @LivingontwoacresQueensland

    Correction: the mandarin tree at the start of this video is actually an "Emperor" mandarin, not Imperial. Also, it wasn't actually possum who's been eating the plants but Wallabies. They learned to jump over a short chicken wire fencing. The possum was innocent of this one... :)

    Great video! I've attempted to root feijoa cuttings in the past and have so far been unsuccessful, so it's great to see you have had success rooting them. I really like your idea of growing them as a hedge, that is something I was thinking of doing on a smaller scale in my front garden. I'm currently attempting to root some in a propagator, I'm hoping I get some to root this time. What size cuttings do you normally take and also what percentage would you say end up rooting?

    • @LivingontwoacresQueensland
      @LivingontwoacresQueensland 11 месяцев назад

      Hi! Thank you for your comment! I found, that when you're trying to root feijoa from cuttings, it really helps to have the cuttings covered. I think it is shown at the end of my video. I used same technique for the grape cuttings and it worked a treat as well! Good luck! Cheers!

      Hi there! I'd say about 60 - 70% of the cuttings survived and set out roots.

    A strong machine but it looks to be annoying how split wood always falls on the ground. Could a platform be fabricated for split wood to sit on after splitting? Also can this log splitter be turned upright for larger logs? I’m not sure if I’ll ever buy a big log splitter. A splitter can be hired for around $300 for the weekend and a lot of wood can be split over two days, especially if all the rounds are organised before hand so minimal time is spent gathering them up.

    • @LivingontwoacresQueensland
      @LivingontwoacresQueensland 11 месяцев назад

      Hi! Thanks for your comment! I agree - the wood does fall everywhere and I have to toss it out of the way every now and then when I have a lot to split. Now, I just park my trailer next to it and toss the split wood in to the trailer. Unfortunately, this splitter cannot be turned vertically. I selected this version because it is much lighter than the one with vertical split option. I agree, in a short run, it does cost a lot more to buy than to rent. I guess, when you buy a machine, it is available anytime you want to use it and you do have some residual value in the machine itself when you own it. Cheers!

    • @tonymontana897
      @tonymontana897 8 месяцев назад

      It will pay itself off over time. Sure the hire is a cheaper option in the short term, but it adds cost to your wood. After three or four hires consider it free if you own one.

  • @kdegraa

    How is it going with this splitter?

      Hi! Doing well so far, had all my firewood splitting needs covered. Did not have any issues splitting any logs which I had. Had to come up with towing device for it, so that I can tow it behind my ride-on around my property. There is a short video about it on my channel, if you're interested. Cheers!
