I do not think there is any right or wrong way to camp. It all comes down to what works best for you. This is something to consider to make sure you get the most for your money. That is pretty cool! MCN exclusive. I have to look into getting one of these!
@@danaridings6387 you scared me. I woke up and saw this comment and the part about the new gear available monday and I was think I must've posted something in my sleep lol. Then I realized it was an old video .
How is your testing going? Any updatess?
@@6foot8jesuspilledpureblood82 havent had a chance to backpack with them in colder weather. It turned cold and we were slammed with Ice so I didnt want to get out there and break a leg. I have used them shoveling snow and clearing down trees. They have done great being physically active then stopping to take breaks. Keeps me warm even during the down times
Had a big family ski trip this year and knew I needed warmth while being active and learned about the Bryne Norwegian fishnet tech long johns. Saw plenty of videos and testimonies about how well it worked. Unfortunately, it’s more expensive than any undergarments I’ve ever bought. Found some knock off stuff on Amazon and it worked GREAT during our cold ski trip.
It definitly is expensive. I didnt know about the knock off on Amazon. Thanks I'll take a look at that
@ Yep, you’ll find some really funky weird stuff but I finally found a top and separate bottom and each had comments in the reviews about how they worked great as thermals/insulating so I knew others had found and tested them out like I wanted to do. Bet I didn’t spend $50 or so for both together!
8useless. there is no compass lecture
Thanks a bunch! You take your time and are safety conscious where you don't hear that from other turtle dog builders.
Wiggy’s in America has it also
Thanks. I never heard of Wiggy's until you mentioned it. Looking at their site now
Their online Norway store has a very nice military discount. Send them an email.
@@user-yd3uh4pz5e thanks. I was not aware of that
Totally rando suggestion by YT. I'm from the PNW, and have been more outdoors than in for four decades. Your vid hit the spot! My mind was BLOWN, however, by your YT search share! I'm a sweater, and prefer wool, too! ...lookin' forward to more vids boss, and goin' shoppin'! THX! 😎
@@2yoober thanks. I'm sure you will like this base layer especially in the cold wet PNW
Love it, stea, er appropriating the practice, Cheers marra 🙂🤘
@@OldNavajoTricks thanks. Hope it helps
Too many people wear too much to sleep. Or wear their sweaty , clammy clothes to sleep. Get chills and are cold. Or how about the quilt is too warm and you sweat. Sweat causes chills and you are cold. What's the worst is you can tell people this and they still do it since they don't understand and are scared to wear less. All good points.
@@Firesong4ng thanks , you definitely know a thing or two about cold weather and quilts
New Shop MCN ? Nice see a video
@@SonofChurchill no new shop. This is our woodworking shop. It was just convient to film this particuliar video here. Trying to get rolling again with videos on a regular schedule
2.25 for a plastic bag 😂
@@NathanHassall yeah seems expensive but compared to $20-$40 for some pack liners it's cheep. I'm all for using trash compactor or contractor bags and did for many years but these fit better and last longer
@@mcnhammocks6218 really eh? I'll look into it especially if they last longer...iv been using regular trash bags too. Is nylofume a little thicker or a different type of plastic altogether?
Thanks for the review! I can’t understand why the long haul is more popular than this bag when this is the same but beefier belt and can hold more weight? You’re literally the only video I’ve found on YT with a wolverine model, thanks!
Thanks. I hope the video helps. I was really suprised that they dont have more videos available for all their packs when I decided to make this pack
Looking forward to seeing what gets added to the website.
Awesome ideal doc,,
Hay MCN good see yar.
i wanna see a tutorial on how to make these
I use this method on 2 tarps, I stretch them out diagonally on the ridgeline then pull the skins over, 2 on the big tarp, 1 on the small tarp or hammock. Damaged or left over pieces also make great Crab Bait holders when crab trapping! They'll show up on my channel sooner or later, thanks. Mike.
Thank you! 👍
Never seen this before, my gf knew exactly what is was tho. Lol. Big thanks from Sweden!
Prayers for you Doc
love the videos gives me a bunch of knoladge
Thanks. Glad to help. The video links in the description have a lot of good info
Best explanation of the build I've seen. Cheers from Cape breton Canada
Thanks.
You, sir, just saved me 30 bucks..lol
Glad we could help. Now you have an extra $30 you can spend to enjoy life.
You are a very good teacher, thanks for the video.
Of course I can list 100 things I wish I woul've done better but I'll take the compliment. Thanks
Sounds rough take care of self
Thanks
Hope you get feeling better. My mother suffers from similar problem. TAKE CARE..
Thanks
I'm waiting on the exact same pack. Hoping I'll be able to reach my waterbottle,if not will probably go with the straw adaptor. Wondering if the adapter is vented? Thank for the video. ✌️
Yes it is vented. I'm still loving this pack. Took it and that straw adaptor out on a 100 mile backpacking trip and had no issues with either
This is all good information. I love this topic! Keep the videos coming please.
Thanks. I appreciate it
How has it held up with small camp tasks like batoning kindling?
Its been great. No issues yet. Its definitely been a good knife
That was an awesome DIY hack!!
Thanks
Audio sucks🦻
Subscribed to the new channel. Can’t wait to see it take off!
Thanks. We appreciate it
If the main heat loss in a hammock is by convection, and the main benefit of an emergency blanket is to stop convection, why not sleep on an e blanket in a hammock? How well would this even work sub 70 degrees?
I havent tried it but i think it would work really well especially since compression of the insulation wouldnt be an issue
The only issue might be condensation built up between you and the e blanket
So what did you decide?
We decided to make the change to Heading west outdoors. I have a new channel called Heading West. It can be found by searching for heading west 1968
Sorry thats all one thing headingwest1968

Looking at SWD packs and came across this - love it. How is the pack serving you?
Took it on a 100 mile backpacking trip last month. Weight varied from 30-35 lbs . Carried great no issues. Got one day of heavy rain and inside the pack stayed dry. I would definitly recommend them

Heading West Outdoors ? MCN Heading West ? Good luck. TAKE CARE..
Could just change name MCN Camping. Nice though Dogs live in moment. Been stuck in passed for years, Your channel MCN one I found when looking how and what to try get out in woods. Good luck for future. Would you get new Sub with a new channel? With old channel not starting from Zero. Edit: I like that Name "Heading West"
You could save the weight of the MSR filter system by taking the Sawyer system and a small bottle of bleach or some aquatabs. This gives the same protection and saves a pound.
What pattern & Manufacturer is this tarp ? Please, I looked at the site that you showed in your Florida tarp video but didn't see it there. TAKE CARE..
The tarp in the DIY snakeskin video is a winter tarp that we made and the pattern is Hexcam. Unfortunately we moved and we are shut down right now until we get a shop up and running again which probably won't be until this fall. If you follow us on any of our social media's or here on RUclips we will be announcing when we will be opening back up. We won't be making hammocks any more but we will be making tarps for hammock camping as well as regular tarp camping and bushcrafting. Another thing you can do is go to our site and sign up for the email list and I will email everyone with the date we will open as soon as I know for sure.
@@mcnhammocks6218 Thank You. I think that would look great in the desert. I SUBD last night, so I'll keep an eye out, so I can buy 1 from ya. TAKE CARE..
UK Autumn would love that too. Hexcam, thank you marra🤘🙂
Always good see others peoples kit 😎
Hey you, I just pick up a xmid 1 person V2 myself, I’ve set it up a couple times (super easy set up!)and I think it’s going to be awesome on trips when I wanta camp where there aren’t good trees. I love it!
Nice. I do really like it its just a matter of getting used to a few things. I wish it had more room inside because if the bugs are bad I don't want to get eaten up while I'm inflating my pad or sorting out other gear
WHAT THE!?
I'm mostly a tent guy. I'll take a hammock ,if it's a very popular area, like Yosemite. I went on a popular backpacking trip a few years ago in Yosemite ( Young lakes) , and when I got to the lakes to set up for the night, it was packed with people. I went to the far side of the lake which had a steep slope to the water ( no flat spots for tents ) and set up my hammock there with a lake view and no one else around !!!
Hammocks do take time find sweet spot lay and sleep but that's all part of the ride.
Good see you making videos still. Hope life good
Been on your web page can't find it. What is the weight, the insulation type, and cost please, and do you post to the UK. This looks like what I am looking for....Many thanks buddy.
