Brookhill Angus is a Registered Angus seed stock operation located in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. Our first Angus heifers were purchased in 1967 and the rest is history, in fact so much so that the American Angus Association presented Brookhill with the Historic Angus Award. I was confronted by one of these; my grandma owns acres for beef cattle. The herd walked up to me, curious, led by one large angus bull. He was defensive and protective of his herd and territory, so he started his "dance". Pawing at the ground, huffing, bellowing, showing me his strength. What he could do to me if I didn't keep my distance. Such a show of power- reminded me more of a black bear than an herbivorous prey animal!
He is saying he can smell that bluegrass coming up soon.❤

He’s actually fine, the temperature is about 25 degrees. He could easily handle another drop of 40 degrees more to -15, maybe further. He’s been though -15 and did fine. As long as he has plenty to eat, he builds heat from within. Also his winter coat is very thick.

I have two cows that are due to drop calf’s any time. Bad timing with winter storm and cold temps. I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. I am getting to old for this shit.
I feel that way at times, but keep going. I try to keep a few Uddertech calf blankets around in case I have any born on these nights. I’ve had them born a zero degrees in snow and survive with the blankets. They must get colostrum or probably won’t survive.
