How To Use A Compressor Properly (Beginners Guide).
In this tutorial, ADR takes you through how to use compression which is a technique used to control the dynamic range of audio signals. Dynamic range refers to the difference between the quietest and loudest parts of a sound. Learning to use compression effectively, helps make the audio more consistent and can make it sound better in a mix. Use this to your advantage to improve the sound of your tracks.

This is Really helpful!!!! thanks for sharing this with the community
Would love to see a video on how you navigate copyright!
Awesome Thank you so much :)
Amazing video, in just a few minutes I learned things that I didn't take into account in my productions. ADR explains in a nice and easy to understand way! Thank you, thank you!
Mentions Jamie Jones, Chris Stussy and Nicky Romaro - You know this is gonna be some whack ass NPC fisher-esque music.
yes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Waiting for another masterclass from ADR 🔥🔥🔥
Great tutorial, posture check tho
Where did you get that breakbeat sample from it’s so nice
these videos are so helpful thx, just discovered using session view like this super cool
Why? Create your own style....
(when using the parallel compression) Why do you place the EQ after the compressor? If the original signal goes into the compressor without being first EQ-ed, the compressor will proccess it as a whole, regardless of the 150 cut you add after. So it will still mess with the original mid and high frequencies of the original sound. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Can you plz stop talking like an AI robot and emphasising every single word you say in a sentence. Nice tips anyway
Computer says no
Good tutorial but bro do you ever blink?!!
Blinking wastes vital time crafting sound and projects vibrations that interfere with any frequencies entering your ears. Once I stopped blinking my productions increased exponentially can’t recommend it enough
😂😂😂
that camera setup is really nice
Syntho <3
Unreal video, this don explains things so well
Cheers James!
10:14 so the ratio is how much compression is added? hehehe you siad it twice in a row xD
You might need some more processing power lol. can you upload a tutorial where you go over the melody structures for house basslines? I struggle getting a grasp on some concepts when reading- so I need to watch someone do it
Very nice tutorial, explanations and examples were very good to follow.
Thanks!
Link for download?
Do this with your midi keyboard while you’re playing it, not manually after.
Tuff
Was there ever a niteplan video?
Can’t wait🤪
i like the session view and i mainly use that. but there is one limitation compared to arrangement view that bothers me. sometimes you want something to phase in before the downbeat. for example, drums that are reintroduced starting with a fill before the downbeat when all clips start. you can do it with a dedicated scene or clip, but it is a bit awkward and quite a big potential to fuck your performance up. i would prefer if clips could start before the downbeat but still hitting (just not with the first note) on the downbeat automatically. there is that function for clips to have them start different to how they loop. that could be used in theory to do want i think about, you just need to press the transport trigger soon enough to give time to play the pre downbeat fill out. but it does not work like that. the clip starts on the downbeat or immediately if you set it to that.
i like that time :)
Love it! *guys remember, do not do what Hannah wants did to boddika* 🤣
It’s interesting to me😢
THEY ARE ESSENTIAL! Club mixes are for clubs / live gigs where you can naturally go longer. Now due to streaming and peoples playlists theres no reason why our club tracks can’t be in peoples playlists along side Red Hot Chili Peppers, Doja Cat or Technotronic which all are radio edits. But we need to adapt for those listeners
Damn do people really still run a solo kick drum in the intro
I know right?! I had a buddy who did this, basically we got into an argument because I called his productions shit and had a massive fight. It turned out his label was plagiarising other artists work. I’m not sure if the newer guys would know him. His name is Mihalis Safras. It really ruined his career.
I think he was just giving an extreme example, even 10 years ago the intros weren’t just kick drums on their own
rad video, i love that you look like youre having a terrible time. please keep making content like this!
korg triton isnt a rompler
Isnt the rack version an sampler/rompler?
@@uzass3445 the rack version is a rompler, but originally is a workstation keyboard
This guy is super underrated this is great
this is amazing bro
Josh is da man Cheers

How did you create that Bass at 4:20? I dragged and dropped the Drum bass I drew the notes but nothing is happening? No sound? Do I need to add something else? I'm a complete novice.
What a guy! Great video
Glad you enjoyed!
One of faves
Wtf didn’t I just learn from this AI robot 😊
Clever use of Shorts. Make the end loop back to the start. Genius and Im here for it 😂
Just sounds like a mess
I feel like the more melodic style does come easier than the more progressive or rather „abstract“ styles. So that‘s what I’m looking forward to see!
let your music speak for yourself. Sorry Passion yes, but the rest comes automatically.
