    I'm interested in this tent, but one feature that bugs me is the large window on the side appears to zip 3/4 and then has a single velcro at the bottom. Has this ever been an issue with not sealing up well? Cold air coming through the space at the bottom?

    Hi, your video appeared on my feed and I was interested because I have built a few boats using fibreglass - one of them a catamaran. However, you really need to get yourself properly equipped to do this work. As a few previous people have commented on - the safety equipment for your own and others including the dog's health. Measuring out the correct proportions when mixing etc. I have subscribed to follow along but take some time to get yourself the right equipment and safety gear.

    An interesting process, been wanting to try it with sodium silicate bonded sand. What are you doing for pattern prep besides the wax? Modeling with draft? Any post processing to deal with layer lines? Tnx

    • @davidmccauley7068
      @davidmccauley7068 23 дня назад

      I've used sodium silicate. It's hard to get it to harden all the way through even with co2. Resin is the way to go IMO. Just wax on the pattern. For the core box I also did a coating of petroleum jelly on top of the wax since it's such a thin piece and didn't want to break it. Yes the pattern and core box has 3 degrees of draft. You will need at least 1 degree but will be much easier to remove with 3-5 degrees because of the layer lines.

    Gday - this just popped up on my feed and I don't mean to be mean, but I really hope that is not colloidal silica you are using as a glue mix. If it is I hope that out of shit you had a respirator on. Silica is great stuff but does produce silicosis. So if it is you keep safer by wearing a good mask- like a Sundstrom. Good luck on the project.

      @davidmccauley7068 the screws can be removed they won't add any more strength to the repair, a doubler inside will do far more. On the other hull and anywhere else do the stringers first, that gives you more glue area and fastener locations. Then do the skin
