      It’s a tough one to diagnose don’t want to blow too much pressure through the coolant line as it could damage the hose. If you are worried about any that went up the line then I suggest bringing it in to get fixed by a professional as that is a much bigger job than shown in the video. We pieced all the broken parts of the impeller together and it looked like none were missing so we took the chance that none went up the line. Hope this helps.

    I'd be shy of using an air compressor. The Yamaha pressure test specs only 10 psi. Yours were leaking so bad it probably wouldn't matter; but, too much air pressure and you could blow other seals like the shaft seals. I did a 10 psi test and it held for about 15 seconds and then wouldn't hold any pressure again so 10 psi was enough to make a seal that wasn't leaking start to leak.

    • @JKFishingYt
      @JKFishingYt Месяц назад

      Yes so we keep getting a lot of comments on this and appreciate the way you brought it up. We made sure to watch the gauge on it and if I can remember correctly only tested up to 8psi both before and after replacing them. Interesting test though that you did shows how accurate their rating are and for only 15 seconds

  • @stickermigtigger
    @stickermigtigger Месяц назад

    How is using an adhesive going to affect being able to remove these seals next time? Did you just glue your seals in place?

  • @motorv8N

    What I like about this video is that you found a likely culprit vs have it a mystery. If you hadn’t found line wrapped around the seal area looking for a bend shaft might be a good next step. Has the repair held up?

    • @JKFishingYt
      @JKFishingYt Месяц назад

      Repair has held up for the past two years lower unit oil is clean and water hasn’t been getting in. The prop shaft seems to be straight with no nicks because of this and we believe that the culprit was just crapped out seals either springs were worn or rubber was cracked.

      I added some Synthetic Multi-Purpose Grease that doesn't have petroleum inside the metal cup where the impeller goes and it was easy to put on. I just rotated the spline on top as I slightly push down on the cover and it went in perfectly. Just remember to go clock wise. I had to do this a couple of times cause I put the housing backwards.

    Great video. Hello from Canada. I just love grubs. Some of the things I like about them are, they are way easier to acquire and keep in good condition opposed to live bait. They work on pretty much every species of fish, you can imitate anything a fish eats with them by changing the colour and how you fish them, you can fish it in almost every way, lots of people don’t throw them so fish are typically not used to seeing them. They work scented or unscented if you have allergies or going into restricted waters. And they are usually pretty dang cheap.

    • @JKFishingYt
      @JKFishingYt Месяц назад

      Spot on, they are incredibly versatile and you can fish them slow with finesse when the fish are picky or fast and aggressive when looking for a reaction bite!

      The coho fillets are a beautiful red/orange and same with the smaller kings. The ocean fillets are red because they eat some crustaceans and to get the red on the farmed ones they need to inject them as they only feed them pellets. The larger kings here tend to be a pink-ish and we usually give most of them away as we prefer the smaller coho and rainbows for smoking.
