Ode to William Smith
Ode to William Smith is a song written by Amanda Bennett, Deputy Head teacher at Seaton Sluice First School. The song celebrates and explores the life of William Smith who was born in Seaton Sluice in 1790 and discovered the first land in Antarctica, now called the Southern Shetland Islands. The children found out all about William Smith and maritime exploration and learnt to sing the song. The children went on to teach the song to other schools in the Blyth area.
