Not every mmo has to be for every mmo player
But not on this game, im f2p have 35k lucent with 3.6k cp. Thats work on a different mmo
you can buy unlimited gold in any mmorpg game that was out here past 30years, why still talk about it?? obviously new players problems lol
pay to win player goes to work everyday and doesnt have the time to grind like the free to play player. Its paying to catch up to nerds..
Old School RuneScape has this sort of 1 on 1 combat style and it’s the 2nd most popular MMO in the world atm so I don’t know, people seem to like it 😂😂
@@SonySteals OSRS does *not* have 1-on-1 combat haha
Big ups, kets
The episode system removing progress from previous playtime was the downfall of cubeworld
Its not removing anything.
It's not removing it. The only thing I agree that loses out on this setup is combat. Everything else it's just like a grinding spot. Not a big deal. Combat feels terrible though having to manage a gear for everyone episode is going to get old fast.
The combat in this game is objectively bad, like mobile auto chess but worse, the rest of the game is "meh" but the combat alone is enough for me to never want to play at all.
yeah game misses in every point, in combat, sim, everything is bland, if they would hit at least 1 spot it would be a cool game
@@BlobBlobkinsmaybe its Just your mental incapacity
Very rambly comment, sorry It for some reason copied the huge ugly blocky UI design of OSRS, as if anyone wanted that? It's not an artistic expression for massive boxes to take up 70% of your screen and you are left with an 800x600 game. The skills "resetting" is one of the worst things. It's not a reset in the sense of reset, but Andrew had to come out and say multiple times that you aren't losing anything. If the main guy behind the game has to come out and explain it multiple times because every single person who played it thought/felt like it was a reset, then it's a bad system. Noone seems to like it, if you understand it it might be like "yeah okay fine", but it doesn't add anything to the game. All the combat professions are the same because the combat is that so why have a different combat profession? It would make more sense if each of the "new" professions built on the previous one, if the previous skill got "upgraded" to the new one or something. Example: Forager goes to level 50, after level 50 it upgrades to gatherer. There is things in the first zone that would need gatherer levels or higher forager levels, and there is things in the second zone that would need lower forager levels or higher gatherer levels, I'm not a game designer but I feel like this would result in some continuity and a reason to head back to previous episodes or zones idk but it just doesn't feel good or make sense when all of the professions including combat is clicking on something and waiting. I also find the little diorama puzzle piece scenes really weird, it makes the game feel much smaller and claustrophobic. Look at that beach, why is that beach split into multiple parts? There is 1 tiny gap separating it but it's a different zone for some reason
@@bird9188 Rambly comments are always welcome! I agree completely, tbh. The biggest thing for me is all these gameplay decisions are ones you _can_ get used to with time, but I still can't understand why they were made in the first place.
hilarious how the professions in each episode are the same concept, just in different fonts, just like the drops are recycled, but in different fonts. i wanted to traverse the world a bit to find cool drops like in runescape, but you're limited to the small area on your map. still gonna play the game though LOL
@@dhielakuruvilla1120 That's the thing, it doesn't feel like a world at all, and more like a series of levels. Not giving up on it just yet though, still lots of time for them to work on making it better!
The combat system is just like how it was in Runescape Classic. I'm old I know.
Yeah, dated and boring
No. It's far worse. In RSC you had 3 different combat stats, atk, str,Def and you were able to switch weapon stance on each tick - changing how the combat works for that tick and also allowing you to customise your stats/character. You also had supplementary combat mechanics like magic+prayer. Bs combat system has none of these.
chapter system sucks
They game has problems yes. A few are fixed with grinding/reaching act 4 They have pushed a few hotfixes already Im extremely positive and hopeful for it’s future
Great video, man! I like the honest and constructive critique
That combat is just like RuneScape classic, it really does look boring
12 quests is lots and lots?
@@jawstrock2215 Having done most of them, they're honestly quite long!
bro played for 1 hour
it's a great game, lots will develop and grow, I cant wait
Yeah if they stick with this they way they said I can only imagine how much different this game will be in 1-2 years. Just like the changes made along the way from RS to RS2. Gower also mentioned he wanted to see if people like the game before committing a larger team to working on it.
You're review is too nice lol! Excuse my language but this game is a giant dumpster mess, and a lot of the gower riders are coping hard by lying to themselves. You hit all the major points of how bad the game design is as it makes no sense. With its current state, the game is not close to ready, and will take a year or two until it become decent. If Brighter shore team want this game to succeed, they need to listen to the criticism and NOT those who are yes man. The potential is there. Just the wrong game philosophy.
@@changthao4875 I do try to be nice because at the end of the day, I love MMOs and all I want is for new games to succeed and only constructive criticism will get us anywhere! I do hope they reconsider their philosophy regarding episodes though, it's just not well-thought out and it, right now, pretty much fails to do the things they want it to do.
Was struggling a week or so to find a main weapon set to play. Found your video, *BAM*, 10 mins in ready for GS+SnS. Thank you so much!
@@aresonantsoul6668 I'm glad Zi could help! That's a super fun combination, enjoy the game!!
A big part I think you missed is gower talked about the episode system being good for people who play less. When a new episode drops and they are hundreds of levels behind the hardcore grinders they can jump into the new episode at almost the exact same starting point. That's really the whole idea behind the system.
@@flame8469 You're right that he has said that, but again, I think the system fails at that. You can't enter new episodes without completing previous ones and meeting the overall level requirements. You'd have to go back and catch up anyway. That, I think, is the crux of the issue. The episode system as he describes it has promise, but the system as it is implemented doesn't.
@@ketsandhisgamesridiculous counterpoint when the episodes are unlocked quickly
I really enjoy the game. I think it fails at it too. The game separates the professions in different episodes but it still feels like you're just going to that grinding spot to do it. They can't add new episodes all the time either that would be a lot of work. Plus if you did then they would just be reusing the old content running it as new in later episodes. I don't mind the separation of content honestly. I think it works besides the combat it just doesn't feel good at all. I'm also not feeling the separation in gear. It definitely makes combat feel worse most people are having issues with it.
combat system is done that way on purpose. Go play runescape classic. I love it.
Literally no one talks to each other..... and honestly good reason because there's no reason to talk to people. Yet anyway
@@jrpm.4436 I've had a few interactions but I'm not gonna lie, I avoid it sometimes _just_ because I hate pulling up that brick wall of a chat window :')
Also having it so no one can see your name and whatnot in the privacy settings by default is an odd choice for an MMO lol.
Don't forget Weapon Mastery only applies to which weapon is your primary, so you aren't technically getting the defenses from Xbow unless it is your main hand.
The combat system reminds me of Runescape 1 (classic).
f2p player must play longer if he wants to be competitive and p2w It's for those who can't play much
Lesss gooo
What does he mean "no penalty" from using any weapons ? If u use Shield as secondary you don't get any bonus. Same goes to Dagger and Crossbow. If you use them as primary weapons u don't get the Off Hand Bonus.
When you keep paying none stop to max out score that is paying to win. I pay at the startup to progress but to also help the game developers. Is this ptw?
so everyone is a iron man if you dont pay LOL
this was a really melicious and missinformed video... the decision to lock player tradeing behind the premium pass is to iradicate gold sellers completely... nothing to do with a a predatory push for free players to buy as youu said... have some respect and do your fucking research before you spout off a load of shit and misinform people away from the game..
Andrew Gower wasn't the creator of oldschool runescape, he was the creator of Runescape.
@@nerdguyman Andrew gower did in fact create old school RuneScape... It's based on a version of RuneScape that was created under his leadership.
FYI pve combat in runescape does have a lot of room for skill expression, these days especially. Not even considering RS3 and how wildly complicated the combat in that game is now (significantly more involved than a game like modern WoW, btw,) but even old school runescape, the team has taken that engine and done really marvelous things with the system to bring out the best of the simplicity of the combat.
I'm more inclined to compare this game to OSRS than RS3 and, sure, compared to how OSRS started out, combat is better now but it's still incredibly simplistic and _mostly_ one-dimensional. Plus it only ever gets interesting at pretty high levels with a LOT of hours put into getting there (most of which is spent with no skill expression at all - ammonite crabs anyone?).
@ketsandhisgames this is mostly valid except they continue to expand the lower levels too! Now days you can get to interesting pvm content as early as base 40s which for an experienced player can be done in less than a day! Theyve fleshed out mid game pvm extensively with varlamore, sarachnis, and even wilderness bosses! True though, the most interesting content with the greatest room for skill expression doesn't start until late mid game, with toa and cox. But when you look at it this way, modern MMO's have the same problem I think. FFXIV doesn't get skill expression for MONTHS, way longer than you need for RuneScape. WoW grind to endgame is much faster but again, you don't get challenging content until mythic+ and raid. Edit: the exception would arguably be gw2, but I think it's just a hard argument in that game since there's nothing forcing you to play well. Keyboard mashing will get you all the way to endgame.
If you do not pay for your subscription you are locked out of the service. In this game, if I gathet it right, you buy it once and keep it. It's more akin to a DLC. Which I enjoy a lot more. So I think saying it stands against subscriptions is fair.
Tell me you don't understand runescape combat without telling me you dont understand runescape combat
Possibly the worst combat system in any game lol, the tick system ruins it and is exploitable and to this day, stil not fixed.
@@A5tr0101 That's a part of the game, and part of the enjoyment of the game. The combat allows difficulty and skill expression, it just differs from how most other MMO's work. It's more about planning, movement, positioning, and resource management. I agree it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I alongside many others really enjoy Runescape's combat system. It's come a long way since click on cow and watch each other taking hits.
Deep dive in a shallow puddle.
7:19 the main function of premium trading restriction is to combat free bot accounts. The game is free only as an extended trial... if you like it, buy premium to play the full game.
I don't disagree, but ultimately, the decision of its fairness will come down to how much is locked behind it in the future, imo. OSRS strikes a pretty perfect balance, I feel, so anything more restrictive would feel a bit misleading and any less restrictive would feel generous. Caution is always good but as always, we'll have to wait a see!
@ketsandhisgames very true. I almost think they should have just called it a paid game with a free trial. That seems more accurate.
Classes aren't good for the economy.
Why? It's great for the WoW economy. Specialization is also great in real life economies.
I already watched th full video and it is helpful, howerver I'm quite confused about the recoil shot (wave) 3stack seems hard to get, since the duration is short. you mean sacrifice 3 mobility skills? I want oy hear your insight.
The reason I feel like it's a stand against subscriptions, is because you're actually paying for content. If a season gets delayed, you're not still paying while waiting. It's a direct payment for direct content. Yes you can boil it down to a subscription, but in actuality it is much more consumer friendly this way, and puts more pressure on the devs to ensure content releases are both good and on time.
@@oots4790 I'd agree if other things weren't locked behind it too, like trading, tbh.
I keep watching these nothing burger videos of the same repetitive sht and I cannot stop. I’ll be playing tomorrow tho!
@@FoodPeaceSelfcare I can't blame you! I tried my best to scrape together as much info as I could but still, they've been so quiet about everything :')
Hahaha for me the same, i watch them all and look forward to playing tomorow
Nice video I hope the combat system has a little more to it as well. What class are you leaning towards playing?
@@Wandering_Wisps To be honest, I have no idea! I usually play mages so I'm leaning towards the Hammermage but I'll definitely be playing all three a ton and then deciding afterwards. Did any of them in particular catch your eye?
@@ketsandhisgames Yeah we know so little about the skills for them rite now. I think just for the nature vibes I'm feeling the guardian.
I don't think locking trading is too push people too get the payed version I think its more so an attempt to stop bots, If trading was free for a new account banning bots that just trade items would be pointless as they would just make a new free account.
@@gizbo262 That's fair but it does also definitely push people towards buying Premium, unfortunately. I'm honestly okay with a sub but I would just rather they be upfront about it instead of making it seem totally optional, if you know what I mean.
@@ketsandhisgames Ya I get that, Either way I am going to get it haha. Good video and cant wait for this game.
@@gizbo262 Hahaha for sure!
I also think its a decision based on preventing bots and gold farmers. It could push people towards buying members sure but If it was about getting more money from players I doubt this is how they would approach it considering there are no microtransactions.
@@ketsandhisgames I don't think premium pass is presented as optional at all, it's presented as the full game, while the free version will be more like a tutorial that still has a ton of content. You test out the game in free to play, but the point of it ultimately has to be to get the full experience in the end.
Awesome vid. Heard some things here and there about this game but really had no idea what it was. I feel like you honestly delivered the *important available* facts regardless of how excited/unexcited you are for the release of the game. Knowing it was F2P before watching your video I was intrigued to jump in day 1. How hopeful are you that f2p will be a viable way to play the game both for the first week or two and indefinitely?
@@fierce1340 I'm glad you liked the video! I think for a couple of weeks or so, F2P is probably going to be pretty good. Beyond that, I'm quite doubtful. With entire areas being locked behind the Premium Pass, you'll be missing out on not just loads of quests, but also access to materials and resources found in those areas for professions. I think being F2P will pretty much have the same restrictions as in RuneScape, which would make it pretty unviable after a couple of weeks at most.
@@ketsandhisgames I'm hopeful that the model the are presenting will be something along the lines of always having some areas being premium, but when they release the next new premium areas, the previous ones will become available for free to play players. This model would really only be a bummer for hardcore f2p players who are getting in day 1. They will probably hit the wall and feel the pressure to buy the premium zones, but if someone starts playing in 6 months, there could be tons of content for them to work through until they finally hit that wall. It wouldn't be perfect but I like the idea of hitting the wall and just taking a break and coming back to the game later to continue as a f2p player.
Umm ok, now let's make it match reality and add a gear score cap of 600, and run this experiment again.
What if I want warlock style with wand? Not for support.
Staff/Wand works as a self-sustaining DPS too!
@@ketsandhisgames I meant DPS with wand. So I'd go wand/dagger (for the inv too).
Can't wait for brighter shores :D
I'm SO excited!
If poe2 is a MMO then throne and liberty FPS looter Shooter games😂
You're wrong because PoE comes with player trading, a massively lived in world, traditional class systems, etc. etc., but I'm ngl this was funny LOL
f2p with 4k lucent atm if u hit 2500 u can do every content besides small scale pvp easily so u r totally wrong
If I dropped 100 USD for 5000 Lucent right now and bought all the gear you have, would I hit 2500 GS without any of the work you put in running the dungeons and bosses? That's the litmus test that I try to explain in the short, and regardless of whether you think it's a problem or not, the answer is yes.
@@ketsandhisgames but u still dont have an advantage which is unfair in anyway stopping your progress? so the answer is no its not p2w its p2progress
@@tiltedtommy8654 If progress was stopped unless you pay, or content is locked unless you pay, that's pay-to-play. Pay-to-win is entirely just getting an advantage over non-paying players. Getting gear months ahead is... pay-to-win.
Evasion is required for PvP, if you’re not hitting 1600 melee evasion minimum you will die instantly to any good player with an equal GS.
And that’s completely broken considering you need melee evasion on every single piece of equipment just to hit that.
@ what’s broken is that it’s an all or nothing stat, if you don’t beat there hit you get nothing for having it. Until we get T2 with better endurance and more viability stuck with pushing evasion like crazy just to survive
