your drain is upside down. Unless you have holes drilled on the bottom this may cause water issues because the water will have to raise the height of the pipe before draining.
Hello @BrianGubb, How long and how much money did it take for you to build this earthship? It looks amazing! I have always wanted a big home and I would want to do something like this. All the other earthships I have seen are very small compared to this. May I know the squarefootage of this home too? How did you achieve the two floors?!
Rammed EARTH is the way to go. To get ready for new climate (global warming) laws. Owners may soon be ordered to dismantle and dispose your tires from encroaching climate regulations.
This is so inspiring. There is so much potential in New Zealand for this kind of living and I would really love to find a community in New Zealand where everyone can learn to make earthships and help each other. I want one :D
hope you furnish us with and update of your finished product. Interestingly enough I watched the documentary about Michael Reynolds who started this concept. I believe it took him about 13 to 14 years fighting the local and state authorities to be able to build these earthship homes. It is called the garbage warrior. Any way nice to know that other countries are willing to try new things; for the better of the earth and human kind.

hello brian my name is danny and i would love to come visit ur home and pick ur brain a long term goal of mine is to build one of these homes , i need some local mentors , and some sound advice .
the old ball and chain is too accustomed to her material westernised mainstream world aye....ahhh im sorry... little does she know, this, this IS THE FUTURE...for security, for the planet, for humanity...
aw awesome mate, man i wished they had large communities of earthships, because it seems everyone that has one has to be far away from the city... === how much did your piece of land cost?... because here in west auckland waitakere land, and not as much yours, goes for like 200k?...dang, i so desperately want to live free from the slave contract that is a mortgage on a house, i just want to be free from the bank ..
Very enjoyable and inspiring to watch. And here's an expat kiwi wondering what was going on over there and I see your earth shattering ingenuity is leading the sustainable / recyclable world. Yes, please post an update. I haven't had a look at your site yet but a follow up video would be awesome to see how it's going. Sadly my wife does not share my dream so I think I'll start by just making a man cave out the back.
Congrats! Kuddos to you and your family for getting permits and doing it! I want to do something similar but I cannot find enough information on it. I've studied a lot of alternative building methods, as well as water systems, but I can't find anything that puts it all together in a whole-house system. Any recommendations? Thanks for the vid. Very informative and fun!
Hi brian, just wanted to ask how long it took you to get your permits to build your dream home? also how much it all cost? the permits that is thanks when your free.
Hello Brian, My name is Mario Roriz and am building an earthship in Portugal. I want to ask, how can I get a machine equal to the machine that appears in the video to compact the soil in the tires. If necessary I will go to new zealand. Thanks and see you soon
holy brian maattee.. your the man... whats your profession? are you like a licensed builder or something?... what kind of training do you need to build this homes for the future?... i heard there is a school that teaches it in america..for 2000$ tution..
Seing you and your family working together in this project is very inspiring, There is an earthship here in Japan where I currently reside, but my wife and i are planing to build one in Peru, I sincerely believe this is in great part the solution to humanity`s problems thank you for sharing your video, congratulations for your new home, all you need now is a car that runs on water.
I really like the impact this project will have on your kids - imagine that they will 'get it' pretty well their parents are ground breaking people and because they helped to create it - that makes them amazing individuals as well. Well done.
if you look at other Earthship construction videos on you tube you'll find that they screw the half tires on after the earth has been rammed in the tyre but before the half tyre has been filled, and as for the hydraulic ram it may not save much time but it saves the energy of of your work force , nothing worse than you unpaid work force quitting half way through the project.
I'm LOVING that compressor. I'm always seeing clips of the 'hammer' action.....which equals ZERO fun. Although it's a great way to keep fit I guess lol. My husband and I heard of earthships about 8 years ago when we had our first baby. We are definately looking at doing the earthship thing once we have HEAPS more time to do it....and our children (3 extra kids later) are a bit older. Hopefully by then, a bit more technology has been added to the 'compression' equipment lol.
any updates
Would love to see inside
Best intentions to uz, honestly, peace n luv whanau
Hi have you finished?, hope you pulled it off

No I'm not a builder, I just figured that I was dumb enough lol to build an earthship. You can learn all you need to know online.
We just found a ram in scrap metal yard and got a local engineer to make it for us. It's not something you can buy off the shelf.
Just do a search on Earthships, there is tons of info out there.

Just get an engineering firm to make you one, that is what we did
gubbsearthship. com
check out 'gubbsearthship. com' all the answers are there
Just as easy to get one made by your local engineering firm
Recommending your video to friends in our community. Such foresight. A great leadership exercise.
Hello all I was wondering where could I purchase one of those tire presses, and for how much? Thank you for your time in advance.
