I share my passion for plastic model building with tutorials, tips and model building related videos. Looking for a more laid back, in detail channel? You've come to the right place! Also there is some adult language (aka: swearing and cursing) and a dry and sarcastic sense of humor involved. Dare I say it, but if this is not your thing, please DO NOT watch my videos. You have been warned. I also prefer to do longer style videos that range over a couple of episodes. I also do not do reviews. Only previews, in other words, if I have not built the kit I will not comment about the quality or anything else for that matter. This technique is great. I've been avoiding finishing a Fiat G.50 because of the spotted camouflage I needed to finish it. I ordered the materials, and using a .7mm tip I got the job done and it looks great. I never would have believed it would be so easy. I used Vallejo model air paint, thinned by 25% Vallejo thinner and it went on flawlessly. I let it dry and came back one more time with a second pass at the color. This was a trial run for a Savoia-Marchetti SM.81I've been working on and has sat on my bench four months waiting for me to figure out how to paint on some spots. i always found the german camo 'very interesting' indeed. reminds me of some of the camo on fish i've caught over the years.

Thanks, and thanks for your question. This specific aircraft did not have the tail unit installed.
@@KeetoModelWorks That's weird. Did you build a different version than I did? I built the exact same kit and as far I understand there was only one version, the A7. Or did you choose to depict a different variant which was not optional in the kit.
@@mortenBP I depicted a version that is not available in the kit. If you watch the complete build series, you'll see that I had to create the markings for this aircraft, for example. There is also, as far as I am aware, only 1 picture of this specific aircraft available and that pic depicts it with no visible tail aerial in place.

The alternate decal set for plane 170 in the background on the box was my grandfathers actual P38 he flew. I've built two of these kits.

Thank you so much for the great tip👍🏻. I have a "spaghetti" camo to paint on a 1/72 FW-190 and also on a Me 110g 1/32 (I might be able to use a 0.2 airbrush for this one). The best is that I already have 2 pens that I was planning to use for Microset and Microsol but I really never felt the use for it, as a brush does the job. I just never thought about using them for paint, isn't that what they are originally made for ?😊. I realize that it's an old video but do you think that paint retarder can help, so that it doesn't dry on the tip of the pen? Thanks again👋🏻

I have Hasegawa P-38L Lightening Geronimo II that I'm going to do when I finish my current build, a Stuka. I haven't built an airplane model in many years, so thought I'd start with something a bit simpler!

How much study of these camo schemes did you invest in before you tried to paint such a scheme. If only they had these paint pens when I was a younger modeler!

Amazing !!!! But one question, I tried to make the same type of marks using a pen Posca (0.7mm), however the edges of the camo marks became a little bit blur, not as you get hard edges. I think that the paint is too much solved in the Posca, but I would like to here your opinion.
Hi, thanks! I am not sure as I have not used Posca pens before. One of the reasons I used empty pens is so that I could control the consistency of the paint etc. I have found there is a difference between thinning colours, i.e green needs more thinning than blue etc - even if it is the same brand of paint. I hope that makes sense and helps you.

@@russianbreadowski5245 I have not tried them. What I can advise is that these pens only work with acrylic paint. If you use true lacquer paints it will not work well.

No, not exactly. With the pens you have substantially more control of where exactly you want the paint, unlike with a sponge....the effect is also different from using a sponge.

Hello Keeto, I'm very impressed indeed...found your post during a search for camouflage techniques. I am not really new to the world of modeling, but I still work with airbrush and brush (mostly tracked vehicles). Recently I bought a BF110 and JU87 (because a long time ago I was more fascinated with airplanes as a kid). I was wondering how I could apply such fine camouflage on 1/72 and 1/48 scale.
