I have Hasegawa P-38L Lightening Geronimo II that I'm going to do when I finish my current build, a Stuka. I haven't built an airplane model in many years, so thought I'd start with something a bit simpler!
I thought I was the only one who uploads modeling videos without caring about impressing everyone with a perfect model. Your attitude impresses me and I appreciate your honesty. You did a good job with this kit. Incidentally, yours is the only Hasegawa 1:48 P-38 complete build I can find on YT. All I see is mostly Tamiya content.
Thanks! I try to have fun above everything else when it comes to building models. Even the "fun" when I mess up. I like the Hasegawa P-38 because it was one of the first kits I used an airbrush on when I started building again but that Tamiya kit is freekin awesome.
A couple of points - ALL P-38's (Except the 2 sold to the UK in 1942) had the counter rotating props The Allison engines had different crankshaft shaft rotation and were clearly labelled so the ground crew did not mix them up.. And Tamiya will be releasing a P-38J later this year, (2022) to complete the F/G and H kits already on the market. Markings in it are for Maj Richard Bong (40 victories), Major Thomas B McGuire (38 Victories) and Capt Charles H Mac Donald, (28 Victories) the 3 top scoring Lightning aces in the Pacific. An "L" model may follow, but IDK for sure.
After buying Hasegawa's P-38J, I found this video. Now I am listening 'someone saved my life tonight' from Elton John! :) I swear this was the funniest and most helpful vuiling video I ever seen. Regrds from Turkey.
@@KeetoModelWorks sure you did. Before I touch my beatiful Tamiya lightning, I wanted to build a Hasegawa one and try '50 shades of Olive drab' with your movie's tips.
Its interesting to see a Hasegawa Lightning, not a lot of videos about, especially with the new Tamiya kit. I've been thinking about buying the Hasegawa one, knowing the steps to watch out fot is really helpful. Great video, look forward to more.👍 Oh and also, ive found for these major malfunctions are the kind of ones where once you manage to get it to sit where you want for glueing you want it to dry fast. So I started using Zap super glue, the one in the pink bottle. It flows really well, takes a bit of getting used to, and to start with i managed to super glue my fingers to the model 😅 but its really good stuff for getting the exact fit you need.
Thanks Ryan, I hope you subbed to my channel as well. It helps a lot for the RUclips algorithm so that more model builders can see my vids. You are correct about the glue I use the BSI Super gold for nearly all my superglue needs, it even works on clear parts....yup! Super glue that works on clear parts does exists! LOL!
I just ordered this one, always loved the P-38. Came across your video, I really enjoyed your take on building and having fun. I say judge a carpenter by his finish work not the progress... so I had to subscribe, look forward to other videos as well....
You crack me up. I enjoy your video. New subscriber and model builder and ex saffer. I used to build up my models and shoot them with my kettie or pellet gun when I was bored wth them.
The alternate decal set for plane 170 in the background on the box was my grandfathers actual P38 he flew. I've built two of these kits.
That is super cool!
he was the Squadron Leader of 475th FG@@KeetoModelWorks

I'm glad you enjoyed it Zafer! If it helped one modeller then I have accomplished my mission.

Even with the mishap on the boom, the result is AWSOME. I will be picking this version up and have a go at it.
Thank you!
This is my model building in a nutshell. Absolutely hilarious 😂

What metal color did you use?
The metal colors are all Mr Color, Jordi. The majority is their Super Metallic II range, 3 of those colors to be exact.
Like this video, was helpful !!!
Thanks Lorëan!
What scribing tape did you use?
It is a Japanese product, HIQParts available at Gunpla stores. If you're in the USA Newtype has it and other brands in stock. HTH.
