A trip down memory lane for me this week. My musical tastes broadened as punk fizzled out and the unspoken underlying trend in England around 1979-1984 was for psychedelia. Robert Smith ,Julian Cope and Paul Weller were all name dropping bands from the 1960's and some of us dived in and never resurfaced. Here is a brief journey through a few of those albums by bands beginning with C.

Another from the Acid Archives still with the letter C. This week it's the wonderful Ceyleib People featuring Ry Cooder. Released in 1968 it's a mix of sitar and Delta Blues. It came out in two very different sleeves and I'm showing originals of both.

My friend your videos are fantastic.... That's my guide to keeping buying the right records ✨✨✨✨✨☮️☮️☮️ Greetings from San Francisco ca.🇺🇲
I'm so old I remember seeing Blossom Toes, Mighty Baby and Junior's Eyes upstairs at The Kings Head in Upper St. Islington. It was fucking deafening and most of us who weren't tripping were arseholed.
Have you tried some Creedence live. They can get truly wigged out. Loads of fuzz and reverb?
Dude you could be my doublgarger. Great collection.
Wow! This is such a great channel. Many thanks. A mind blown is a mind shown.
Part 30 😂
The Count 5 would dress up as vampires and drive around sunset strip in a hearse for publicity, great show
There's a nice compilation cd of Clark- Hutchinson called 'Free To Be Stoned'.
Great job take 444 all fantastic albums thank you very much ☮️✨🎸🍄✨☮️🎸🍄✨☮️🎸🍄
Ps. Bummer to hear of the passing of the great Mr. Money. Saw him play with the Animals with Andy Sumers in tow. Those were the days of walking with musical giants! Be well
Agree with you on the 1st Crabby Appleton lp. Stay away from the 2nd unless it’s almost free. Count Five is from out my way. Great psych garage. Sleeve art can be very deceiving. Dig Cranium Pie and as usual a lot of your collection is unavailable or obscenely priced across the pond here. Bummer. Keep spinning baby! 🖖🚀
Hello, interesting albums you show here but Ive only seen Count Five here in Sweden. There is a new indie band here called Nektar. Isnt it copyrights with band names...
The Chambers Brothers - First gig I ever went to.
Wow. First gigs are always interesting. I saw Freddie and the Dreamers when I was around 4 years old. Never been the same since....
What happened to the music? I liked the music.
The music's in your head....
Nick Saloman is a very nice bloke.
Indeed he is. Used to run a fabulous record shop in Bexhill. I was lucky enough to see the first Bevis Frond gig at the Fulham greyhound ( I think ) at the Freakbeat Freakout in about 1989.
Great video. Love that Catapilla album. I'm new to the VC. Posted my first video about 6 weeks ago. Cheers
Lots of classics here! Disraeli Gears is truly one of my all-time favorite pscych/blues albums. Thanks for sharing, Cheers
Brilliant! It's like grooving in Klook's Kleek all over again.
Knock out show! Just got the 10” Delirium platter and it is great. Couldn’t agree with you more on the Cream material. Used to hang at the local freak out club back in 67’ and the disc jockey would play Disraeli Gears between bands! Still play their stuff loud round here. Everything today is “ juicy baby!”🖖🚀
Love the Claypool Lennon albums still need the EP. Take care Brian ☮️
Crosbys lp is a fantastic epic lp. Too bad it’s a quick listen. Who was playing in the background? Good show. 🖖🚀
Yep . Love that album. an all time favourite. The background music was The Lennon Claypool Delerium . Check them out. You'd love them.
I wish there was a bit more songs like Cowboy Movie on the David Crosby album. It is by far the best David Crosby album.
His best by a country mile. not sure why he didn't try more stuff in that vein. The album has a great atmosphere. Very stoned and dreamy.
Just scored the Bokaj and, by extension, The Hell Preachers, Supreme Psychedelic Underground (speculation in discogs comments, Lucifer's Friend dodging contractual issues). I really like the first Blood Rock lp; the live lp not bad - worthwhile for the loooong(er) version of DOA.
That Bokaj album is great. Thanks for tuning in.
I enjoy these videos immensely (they introduced me and my impulse spending to Constantine, Black Sun Ensemble, Charalambides most recently) I love the musicianship and dark pagan folk strangeness of Comus; had the cd for years and was quite pleased to get a rerelase of the original lp on vinyl (and, a couple of years back, a1972 live performance, Out of the Coma, on vinyl).
I haven't seen that Comus live album. I'll have to check it out. One of the pitfalls of RUclips vinyl community videos is the effect it has on one's bank account.
What was the tune at the end of the video very trippy stuff
It was a track from the Cold Sun album. Sun-baked Texas psychedelia.
Great psychedelic tune brother 👏 ✨ ☮️ ☮️ @@Mark-Take444
I was lucky enough to see The Creation when they reformed in 94 supporting Oasis at the Hacienda the day Definitely Maybe was released
Wow. That must have been great. I missed Oasis live and am certainly not paying the prices they are asking this time around.
Glad to have you back on track. Never seen The Creations album here in Stockholm, didnt they sell so.much? And its Klaus SchulzE....
Thanks for tuning in. I've been really busy recently so the videos have been a bit sporadic. Hopefully they will become more frequent.
great to see you, great video as ever, cheers mark hope you had a great holiday
Thanks. Had a good few weeks walking in the Himalaya-up to Everest Base Camp .17,600 feet.
Candymen became Atlanta Rhythm Section
Whoa, I could see through the book at about 5:01. Nice entry.
caught up now, love CCR so cool, i need to get some cactus albums that blues rock thing is right up mt street, thanks again mark for my continued education on all things psych, cheers
man glad you showed the cramps love that band, have about 8 of theirs on cd and a 10" vinyl im going to have to listen to those first two albums again, cyrkle are great, cheers mark missed this one and the next one
Great stuff 🔥 Just picked up recent reissue of Cold Sun-Dark Shadows awesome!! Take care Brian ☮️
Thank you!!! I really enjoy your videos!!! Greetings from Belgium
You are a little expert I suppose in this style of music. Can you tell me who play on Hell preachers inc Rumours of Deep Purple or Lucifers Friend.....
Agree with you on Chrysalis. Really cool lp all through. Cold sun is a real blast. I play that one Loud. Who’s playing in the background? 🖖🚀
Cramps yes! Really a poke in the eye kinda band. Best taken live. Saw Crzcker also at a coffeehouse / wine bar in Berkeley. Wish you lived closer would like to have tea with you and discuss!🖖🚀
I love the Cramps and would love to have seen them live. It's a problem being so geographically distant from VC members. Maybe we should all get together in San Francisco one year for a psych out!
@@Mark-Take444 now that would be something. Keep that thought!🖖🚀
I have a few Current 93 records. One of the 12” EPs is signed. Constantine sounds great.
Current 93 are pretty obscure. I wasn't sure anyone who watches would have heard of them .Hardly mainstream psychedelia but there's always someone who has stuff and more knowledge. Apocalyptic folk and not for the faint hearted.
That’s how I learned of Current 93, Ptolmeic Terrascope! Also got turned onto Legendary Pink Dots.
I also have the first (I believe) release from the Charalambides. Self released with a hand made CD cover.
Derek Fisher…hmm don’t know him. Isn’t he an L.A. Laker basketball player? 😏
Need to get the first album. What is your connection ? Interesting development with your music.....What label will you be releasing it on ? Have you heard of Fruit de Mer Records from England? I've mentioned them a few times on my channel and will probably do a video on them at some point. I have most of the stuff they've released. I had a few bits out on the label in the past including a couple of tracks on an album which included The Yardbirds, The Electric Prunes and The Pretty Things !
Christmas are from my hometown in Oshawa Ontario and the main guitarist composer went to my secondary school (way before me) hard to find original copies even here but I did find their second album Heritage excellent album highly recommended
That's pretty cool. Thanks for tuning in.
Love the Bobby Callender lp. I play it when ever I need a hit of really tripped out vibes. Children of the Mushroom is always close to my turntable. Nice grouping this time. 🖖🚀
Cheers Rik.
Hi Mark I got lucky about a month ago and found both Collectors albums in the same week great stuff! Still need a copy of Christopher. Children of Mushroom is a new one for me 🍄 Take care Brian ☮️
Thanks for the info!
great fun video good that you left in some of the retakes, nice to hear the magical sound of the pan pipes in the background at one point and a bit of medieval too, some cool stuff on show, cheers mark
I like to time-travel with your channel I have Collectors, shall try Cryan Shames volume 2.....
Hello Mark....always watching your hippy vids silently....you forgot to mention that the Shames had in their ranks Jim (Hook) Pilster playing the tambourine with his hook....i have only a later comp by them on Decal....haven't heard the Sailing Ship before....i can see why you like it, sort of sounds like the UK Charlatans in the 80s.....deuces amigo.....
Great work mate ! Have heard all these artists, top collection !!
I partied some of my records into oblivion! I’ll have to check some of these out!
You’re oh so right on with this episode. Church are a truly underrated bunch of geezers! I need to show some Echo and the Bunnymen. Love them too! Like the sampling. 🖖🚀
first neo 60's band i heard were Plasticland in around 1979/80
I'll be showing Plasticland in due course. I saw them in London around 81-83 or so .They've just reformed I think.
3 great bands in this video . Disintegration is my favourite Cure album . What about Julian Cope ? , one of the most underrated artists this side of the universe IMHO . Fried , Peggy Suicide and Jehovakill are my favourites . Early Church albums are missing in my collection but Starfish , Heyday and Priest = Aura are very recommended Thanks again and take care
I have Starfish and Heyday but I think the first 2 or 3 are the most psychedelic. Saw them live in London in the early 80's. Great band.
