I've swapped from schwalbe g-one r in 42 to now to the new panaracer X1 sk in 40. Now more ride stopping punctures and they are just as fast. How are you going with the schwalbe g-one r?
I've loved them and been perfect for the gravel rides and races including Seven and Tassie Nationals but I'd ideally want something more robust for this course.
@pedalaction exactly the reason for my change over. I enjoyed the schwalbe g-one r's, but could of been my combination of sealant (muc-off) but big punctures just left me stranded even with bacon strips. I've moved over to dynaplugs so we'll have to ultimately have to see
@@mortis13 I've been lucky never had much of an issue :)
Nice vid, good angles
Thank you, Phil loves filming so a win win :)
Well done! Thanks for sharing :D It looked amazing, and what a perfect day for it too!
It was a great day for sure. So lucky and fabulous well run event too. Hope to see you at the next one
It looks very dangerous, at least put something on the pillars ! Someone will be killed !
There have been a few crashes over the years but generally nothing serious, mostly just sliding
Thanks for joining us! See you next year?
I'd love to get to SBT or FNLD but will be here for RADL next year for sure :)
That was pretty cool to watch!
it was a great event to be at as well! Hopefully it's on next year :)
Crazy Fast indeed ! Scary too 🥴Well done Michelle🤩 & Jenna 🤩
Thanks this course wasn't as scary as some I've raced 😊 Conditions were almost perfect 👍
well done girls.
Thanks it was a beautiful day out. Did you take part?
@@pedalaction unfortunately no, I live in Melbourne and a bit far to travel.
@@johnbradley1599 if you get the chance I highly recommend it. All the best
Well done! Thanks for sharing :D It looked amazing, and what a perfect day for it too!
Gravel events are such fun and this one with my bestie on home roads was too special not to share :)
That was me last year...more prepared this time😂
Sadly many didn't get choice as a moto stalled on the hill. I knew this could be a factor so hung back and waited, worked perfectly so I could ride up
@pedalaction and here we were worrying that rider's would be the first to stall😂 love your work! Happy Straya day🍻🤙😎
@@Mark-1d I'm not saying they didn't ;)
It's always great to see the new cycling season get underway.
It is indeed, love living here and having great access :)
These types of events look like a heap of fun. I'm in no shape to attempt it this year but am training my butt off with the aim of doing it next year. Are there any similar events throughout the year? Perhaps with shorter distances?
They are a lot of fun for sure. It all depends on where you live to the number and type of events. RADL GRVL actually has a smaller distance for this years Tour Down Under, family friendly and suitable for begineers. Enjoy your riding and if you need help with your training reach out.
very informative thank you Michelle :D
Thank you, see you out there on Friday
Looks a pretty course 🚴♀️ 🏃🏼♀️ 🌲
The RADL GRVL is a special one
'almost' a road tire.... that 'almost' is doing some heavy lifting!
haha indeed! It will be a fast course though with some rough and sandy sections choose your tyre wisely!
Great video for a Radl newbie, thanks for the info. Tyre choice is my biggest concern tbh. I have Maxxis Rambler 45s which served me really well in Five at Nannup this year. Not sure I have the skills to go with a slicker tyre, any advice would be appreciated.
the maxis are a little chunky for the course we have here. Most of the course is champagne gravel, with some some forest trails where the extra grip and bigger tyres will make for a more enjoyable ride. Seven is a very different course and understand why you would have used the maxis for that course if you have the opportunity to have smaller tyre profile then do but I don't think it's nessasary just be prepared to be a little slower overall.
Did it this year. Advice? Train harder than think you have to train. It's hard. It's hot. The climbs are long and put the easiest gears you can on your bike as the climb up Falls is relentless when you are already buggered.
I like to think training smarter is better, yes you need to train 'alot' but it has to specific and managable to the goal you set yourself. I hope you had a succesful ride and despite feeling buggered can look back with a good sense of achievement.
You packed plenty into the week. Beaut clip. 👌
It was just enough, definately more to see and do but there's the whole world too :)
Well done, fantastic race report. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video
Wow Michelle! 30 minutes quicker than last year! This just speaks volumes about your training. 🔥
thank you, course records were broken as the conditions were good so I can't take all the credit but yes I believe I was better prepared and stronger :)
Well done on your silver medal. Glad that the Nationals aren't in Tassie next year. Somewhere warmer please😊
Let's hope it's somewhere warmer :)
That's lovely michelle, congratulations
Thanks Pete good memories for sure
Congratulations 🎉 What a great ride! 30 min improvement is huge over that course. Thanks for the recap 😊
Thanks Michelle would have loved your pompoms and cheering :)
Congratulations on your Silver medal Michelle. What a great video, thanks for capturing all the variety of the course that make it as tough as it is beautiful. Glad I even snuck into the final cut! Happy riding!
Would have added your pup but she wriggles. Thanks to you and the team :)
Awesome Michelle thanks for sharing your experience.
Thanks was hard to film it on my own :)
so good congrats :D thanks for sharing
Thank you, hope you enjoyed it
@@crickmichelle my gravel needs more action :D
the stupid interference of the UCI in normal sport has turned it into a mountain sport in Europe with long climbs. real gravel is not about mountains, or rather not always about mountains
Gravel roads around here are rarely flat, it's either up or down 😁
Awesome effort. Well done. 👍🏻
Thanks so much James. Did you race this event?
No, I haven’t raced Seven. I’ve raced the last 2 editions of the Long Dirty Warrny. Still trying to decided if I’ll do a 3rd but the memories from the last one and the block head wind on the day for 250 kms are still too fresh. lol
@@jamesrowe4861 I can really recommend the event. I'm hoping to do the 140km of Dirty Warny, I don't plan to do the really long one ;)
Great vid; I worked on the first 5 3Peaks and got to see it evolve into an epic ride.
Wow well done, such history to a great event. I'm glad you enjoyed it
Great coverage! I watched your video from last year and entered myself this year, finishing 6:33 just a few minutes behind!
Wasn't it a brilliant event? I'm glad we inspired you to enter :)
So cool! Apart from when the camera is attached to the bike, is the cameraman riding a bike as well?
Yes I'm lucky that my husband runs his own videoography business and likes to ride so he is with me every pedal stroke.
@@crickmichelle 💖
Great video
Thanks!
Congratualations!
Thanks, that one was pretty hard
So are you going to Belgium?
Don't know yet, a few things need to fall into place behind the scenes, but would love to go.
@@pedalaction Yes, it's a big expense. Next year - Nice, France. That would be nice...no pun intended😄
So cool! You must be in amazing shape! 🔥 A lot of athletes talk about gels as fuel. I’ve never looked into their ingredients. Which brand do you usually use? I forgot which one you showed in the video.
Oh you're very kind but I am feeling pretyy strong and fit right now. There are so many to choose from I personally really like veloforte as their just the right size for me but I also use Science in Sport Beta gels. For Seven I will be aiming for around 90g of carbs per hour for fuelling. Hope that helps
@@pedalaction Thank you!
I’m wondering what gears you had for Seven and if you would change it?
Hi Kathy I'm running GRX 31/48 and and 11/34 cassette on the back. It came standard on my Liv Devote gravel bike and it's just about enough for me. There's been a few occasions I'd have like more but for this event it's fine. Gearing is a very personal thing though some like to grind and some like to spin, there are so many different options out there.
I did once…
Nice David I'm sure there are others who can ride it. Aapparently there's another hill which is worse! Kirkham I think?
Nice work
thanks Keith when are you going to join us? ;)
The Number 1 thing is Weight. Get the fat off you.
whilst excess weight is factor it's not everything as James proved being a bigger guy. It's still achievable even if you're not a mountain goat.
Great video! This is one of my favourite rides - it is completely achievable with training, support and good nutrition. Let’s get to the target 15% women for 2025 😍😍
Great video! This is one of my favourite rides - it is completely achievable with training, support and good nutrition. Let’s get to the target 15% women for 2025 😍😍
Would definately love to see some more women tackle this event, it's so inspiring riding with other women. I said hello to every women I saw on course and chatted when I could :
All the training is pointless with proper nutrition on the day, what was their nutrition???. With that distance and heat water, gels and bananas jjst aint enough
100% agree David food is so important. Our athletes have specific nutrition advice which suited them, however even with the right nutitrion the body can respond like it's never done before hence the large DNF rate this year.
So interesting to hear all these personal stories. How do you choose who you interview?
that was the easy bit, harder was not making the video longer we did do a fair bit of cropping :)
Really good video. A small part of me would like to do it but i know i can't. Respect to anyone who finishes it.
it's certainly a wonderful place to ride. I highly recommend the event, if you ever curious to know if the event is for you let us know
@@pedalactionThe scenery looks amazing no doubt. But i'm terrible at climbing and very injury prone.
@@DanTuber keep pedlaling and doing what you enjoy
The event is looking at having more women what do you think would help bring up the numbers
That is a great question. I've thought about shortening the route but that ditracts from what it is about this event that makes it so special. Perhaps some pace groups that keep particularly women riders together. What are your thoughts?
A great video and follow up to Peaks. This was the first Peaks for me, and it was challenging, especially the heat. Will I do it again? Well, if you asked me that coming up the back of Falls, that was a definite NO with a few other words that weren't Bang Bang. And believe me, I expressed that very sincerely. Before I got back to our accommodation that night I was already talking about next year. Short term memory or stupidity? Thinking back over the whole process, the hardest part is defiantly the training. Training efforts through the week then giving up every weekend with 5-10 hour rides each Saturday and Sunday for months. It is a huge commitment and takes a lot of time and effort. There are weekends where you get to the point that you just don't want to ride but go anyway. Was it worth it? From someone who started riding in May 2023, that is a big yes. It was hard and given my lack of bike experience/fitness I had a lot of work to do. Like anything, if you want to succeed and put the time and effort in you will get there. It still won't be easy, but nothing worth doing, that gives you this sense of accomplishment and achievement ever is. If you are on the fence about having a go at this, don't risk a splinter in the bum, swing your leg over and give it a go.
What a wonderful attitude and agree it is an amazing event and big challenge and commitment from anyone who signs up. Well done on completing, good luck with the rest of your cycling journey.
good share and loved the stats! well done to everyone who started
Thanks, certainly helps put it into perspective doesn't it
Great video well done. Bang, Bang!
Thanks Lee, your speech was epic! Love the work you all do as wave leaders
Awesome video and lessons learnt, great to hear how some “normal” riders faired and not the instagramers that all seem to do it in sub 9 hours. I’m trying to pluck up the courage to do it, maybe next year. 😊
reach out 'when' you take the plunge we'll be happy to help. Keep on pedalling
interviews are priceless. thanks !!!
Always good to hear event info straight from the athletes, I can confirm that the back of Falls was absolute carnage this year due to the 40+ C heat down in the valley.
@@pedalactionyep, being there and walked up some - (mostly :) ) due to all around were not just walking - but laying down in the ditch not able to catch the breath ( get the HR down..)
