Mildly Adventurous
Добавлен 5 авг 2023
Retired TV photojournalist still seeks out new adventures.
In Praise of My E-Bike
This is the tale of my conversion to an e-bike. I bought it in January 2023, and have fallen in love with it. There are debates now about people abusing them at pedestrian's peril (especially in NYC), so I want to give a broader view. It is a great short distance form of transportation.
This should become a very popular way of getting around. It is so much better for the environment than private cars. This is not meant to be a replacement for a mechanical bicycle. This should be thought of as a supplement based on a person's current need.
My bike is from a company out of Phoenix, AZ called Lectric e-bikes. It is their XP Lite model. A newer version than mine, the 2.0, has just been release...

This is a timelapse view of Downtown Dallas during the April 8, 2024 Total Solar eclipse. Shot on a GoPro.
The Dental Capital of the World, Los Algodones, Mexico.

This is a story about a small border town that has 250 dentists, that serve mostly North American patients willing to have their teeth treated in Mexico. While Los Algodones is just a short Walk away from California, it is about a 15 minute drive from Yuma, AZ, the closest city. I found everything about Los Algodones fascinating. And the patients who I met there very happy to save their money. ...
Mildly Adventurous in Quartzite, AZ at the RTR

This is a brief look at the American Subculture of people living in their vehicles; nomads, if you will. I attended an annual get-together called the Rubber Tramp Rendezvous in Quartzite, AZ in January, 2024. I lived the culture for two weeks meeting many interesting, talented, and resourceful people. Here are some of their stories. Watch with an open mind. As always, everything you see, and he...
Mildly Adventurous on the Camino de Santiago

I walked 532 miles of the Camino de Santiago Frances. I walked from Pamplona to Santiago de Campostela in 31 days (30 actually walking) in September/October of 2023. These are my thoughts about walking the Camino. Enjoy the sights, and sounds. This was completely shot on my cell phone, the Samsung 21 Ultra. No production music, or sound effects were used. Everything you see and hear actually oc...
A mildly adventurous look at Mexico City

In April 2023, I spent two weeks seeing how the people of the most populated city in the Americas live. Everything was shot on my cell phone, a Samsung S21 Ultra. I proudly use no production music in my videos.
Never had the slightest interest in the RTR. Among other things, I suspect most are Trump cultists.
You can get outside and enjoy the outdoors without living in a car! It’s still an illusion of freedom, there are many cost to living in a vehicle and being nomadic even if it’s not monetary, been there done that for a few years with plenty of money and I took my ass back to a house. Enjoy it while you can because it won’t last, most of you won’t be able to afford gas In The coming years 😉
😂
I just returned from Los Algodones. Eight zirconia crowns, a metal partial, and a nightguard for $3,400.00. I spent a week at Hotel California. I had an amazing time. I highly recommend Castle Dental. I actually miss the town!
Very pleasant and informative video. Nice job!
RTR. What a joke!
My daughter and I drove 6 hours to see this event only to be disappointed by clouds. ☁️ 😢. It was on my bucket list. It is sad to see people driving on what could have been a life changing experience for them. I don’t know their situations and maybe they had good reasons. The weird thing is even though I didn’t get to see the event, it was the best weekend I could have ever asked for with my daughter. It literally was the best time of my life. So in a way, it still was a life changing experience that I will never forget. She was unbelievably positive throughout the whole experience and it changed my life. I love her so much ❤😢
I mean not everyone cared about this. For some people it wouldn't change anything. You're also assuming everyone knew about this. I only found out about it 2 days prior to the event.
Must of been cool to see lights turn on within seconds while driving
This video is such a good summary of the Camino experience. Arrived in Santiago a week ago. My first. A bit less crowded and no flies. 🙂
Love your narrative style. Informative, frank, easy to listen to. Thanks. Flying to start my camino, May 4th.
I'm impressed! That was a very professional quality video with lots of actual interviews. Must have taken considerable time and effort to produce. I have my dental work done in Nuevo progreso, Tamaulipas. It is a very similar Texas border town that relies on tourism and closer to my Midwest home state. I've saved thousands and I am very pleased. I'll check for other videos of yours because once again that was very well done!
Bikers are not pilgrims, it’s cheating, that’s easier. Anyone can use wheels to get there but I don’t think the original pilgrims had wheels !!
It baffles me that people would decide to drive during a once in a lifetime event
Solar eclipses happen EVERY year, so anyone can see one each year
indeed. Miserable lives...
@@Wendlinger just like yours💀
Bah! Bah!
@@Pack22 Sure. Because we did not have eclipses here where I live
There's a typo in your watermark.
It didn’t occur to me that the streetlights would turn on. Duh.
Nice video of the eclipse
Well this video ain't cool it's just going to make them raise prices, gee thanks
Thanks for this info, I have been considering going to have my teeth cleaned.
🦷😁👍 60 Minutes worthy . Interesting and enlightening 😮 📺
❤❤❤
thanks, Brad...wonderful stuff, can't wait to see your next Camino video!
Sad to see it so crowded with people who frankly are not Pilgrims...just hikers larping as Pilgrims.
I first did the Camino 30 years ago. I used to go every 3 years. But not any more, because just like everything else, it's been ruined by Americans. Every pilgrims journey is a deeply personal thing, which gets invaded by Americans vlogging every second of the walk doing a commentary. People can't even rest in the evening without Americans filming everything. All the historical spirituality of the walk has been stripped away by Americans. Destroying everything you go near. Another tradition changed forever. Congratulations.
Single solo women beware,,somebody is attacking women in Quartzsite at night,,don't park there ,,it could be your last time,
Or stay married, til death do we part, not ooooooooh im mad now , im leaving, lots of people's stay married to be a be a good example , word's can be dangerous if u not put a soft gentle heart behind them & causion should be taken when emotions r at the wheel , 💝🏕 🏖
I attended the 2024 RTR and I think these people are so brave and bold to be LIVING their lives. I can't go full time, so I still have a sticks and bricks that I stay at most of the year.
Thank you for sharing this.
Freeness and wildness! Well said that man. What month did you complete it? I was there September..from Zubiri it was a terrible experience. Full of plastic pilgrims!
As she said in the video, the RTR caters to people who are in financial distress. It didn't used to be that way, in the begining they were much more about a (non-financial or only partially financial) choice to live in the great outdoors, traveling with the seasons. That's where I got my start with the RTR, most of us don't attend anymore for that reason.
Forward always, backward never 😊
Beautifully done.
Many of the still photos are terrific. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Many thanks!
Very accurate video! Editing was timed perfectly & narration least & to the point! I’ve subscribed! Take care!
Thanks and welcome

I built your Honda Element in East Liberty, Ohio.
Men far outnumber women who are homeless; those are the facts (" There are 260,284 men compared to 106,119 women. Thus, men are the majority of individuals experiencing homelessness (70 percent) followed by women (29 percent) -- demographic data from National Alliance to End Homelessness, corroborated by many other demographic data from reliable sources. Providing for homeless women is a worthy goal, but HOWA VP can't gaslight us. Just say you give priority to women, despite the data.
Very professionally done. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
So refreshing. A Podcaster with terrific communication skills.... Joan
I do try. Subscribe, because there is more to come. Every 3 months or so.
pretty cool how murikans just gave up on a good life. always a certain percentage of people who just cant wont and dont fit in. they have places for you. the blue states.
In advance of my visit I watched a few videos- yours was the best in creating a level set of expectation from tours, sites, people, and potential safety and digestive issues. :) And yes, common sense. Thank you.
Have a great time.
Those are some of my friends Annette,Mona,Tanya big hugs ladies🥰🤗❤️I’ve been living in my van for almost 3 years and I’m never going back to traditional life 😎👍
