You know it's bad when the self-proclaimed "Master of Fear" is terrified of Bolton. Crane inflicts fear mentally with his fear toxin, but Bolton's fear methods were straight-up abuse.

Simple solution: Send people like Harley and Scarface, you know, the ones who can actually improve and get better, to a different psychiatric hospital. Then send ones like Joker, who never improve and outright get off on hurting people, to Arkham. With Bolton in charge.

To this day I'm morbidly curious about what that man did to Crane. Like, I get that BTAS Crane's really just a one-note bully who just likes subjugating people, but something tells me Bolton crossed some damn lines dealing with him. Probably one of those examples of "paying evil unto evil is still evil."

he reminds me of Percy wetmore from Stephen king's the green mile where he bullies and antagonises those who stand in his way only by deliberately left the sponge dry which causes brutal death by electrocution after which he was fired from his position instead of being locked up in a padded cell or commited to an insane asylum

If this officer actually cared about punishing the wicked and protecting the innocent, I'd support him. Batman villains seriously are writers' pets; they do awful things, all the time, and just get treated with kid gloves, with Batman never doing any of his oh-so-legendary 'brutalities' against them, always basically being 'frenemies', while the innocents of Gotham just crowd morgues for their power fantasies. The thing is, this guy obviously doesn't care about justice, or punishing them for the evil and disgusting things they've done and that they do. If he did, he wouldn't have gone on to start attacking reporters and, if I understand correctly (someone who remembers the show better, correct me if I'm wrong), lock up Jim Gordon. He's just a toxic ape that needs to someone, anyone, to crush for that power rush, and if he didn't have access to the Batman villains, he would be doing this to autistic kids from a special ed class, immigrants with temporary asylum, or attendants from an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

It's sad, but this episode is the downfall of the series. We are far from his peak. The second series of batman tas is clearly not in the same category of the first.

When Scarecrow gets scared of a man who is more scary than the Bat, we really need to be scared.

It's amazing how this show hit on so much that is actually wrong in real life as well. Inmate abuse is real and a real problem among jails, prisons and asylums. Especially in the states.

Really what’s the difference between Batman and Lyle Bolton? Batman beats up criminals on the streets. Bolton beats up criminals incarcerated

Lyle Bolton enforced Arkham with such ruthless measures, he striked fear into the hearts of even the most irredeemable criminals.

Bolton (Lock-Up) is emblematic of all the problems with incarceration, especially the fixation on punishment rather than rehabilitation. Using your power to punish feels good, but it isn't helping prevent crime. If anything, it creates ever more hardened and brutalised criminals, and I'm not even talking about the inmates.

I'm sorry and just an opinion but I don't really think Lyle Bolton is kind of wrong for what he is doing and I get his way is not "reforming," criminals and is very violent.. but can these criminals really even be reformed and even if so, is the countless of murders they committed even forgivable. That's why I'm on a grayscale with he is doing because he's not too in the wrong. Like these villains with batman, honestly don't suffer enough. They literally play with batman like a game and the fact that scarecrow legit admitted he'd never commit crime again.. and I get they have a sad backstory but still they commit crimes, not one or two or three but many countless of murders and twisted crimes. Harley Quinn herself is the biggest example for me because I get she was in an abusive relationship but I will never feel that much bad for her because of the countless people she brutally murdered. Like yeah, she had a tough relationship but like she still killed children, women and recieves some sympathy act. So maybe fear is the answer to keep them from committing these crimes. I'm not mad at Bolton for giving them hell.. I'm just not, lmfao

Sorry, no compassion for the loonies at Arkham. They deserve Bolton's treatment because Batman clearly doesn't scare them into never reoffending. None of their "treatment" seems to be working either. Most of these freaks are guilty of basically domestic terrorism. Scarecrow poisoning Gotham's water, Joker trying to nuke Gotham, where's the line? None of them atone for their crimes, they just play the insanity card and a few weeks later they're back at it. Short of killing his enemies, Bats should just lock them up in the Batcave and put them all in artificially induced comas. Why some Gotham gun nut hasn't sniped them is also beyond me.
