How to remove the sticky finish off a car dashboard
Hi mate - great job. What is the name for the plastic pipe you pulled out after cutting the tie? I need to order that as I split it when trying trying to remove it - it was tightly stuck on. Thanks
This is very interesting cuz this is happening to my dashboard and I want to fix it
2024 still helpful! cheers mate.
Thanks a lot!!💪😁
Did one of these yesterday on a different sunbeam model. Initially I thought, remove rivets. On closer inspection it was not necessary. The pump and fittings go through the rubber.
How about a sealer?
Thanks, brilliant. 20 year old machine, old pump finally died. The video is step by step, hardest part was fitting the hose back to the bottom of the pump, ended up removing one of the grills on the bottom plate. Thank you, legend
Nice gonna try it out and hope it works. Got the dash sticky on a lexus IS 200 from 2001 :)
2003 Hyundai LOL. 3 hours work makes it a write off!!! Isopropyl alcohol (70%) is the answer.
Would this work on rubber dash?
Thank you for this video: it made my job really easy. I bought and fitted a new pump yesterday. the original pump went for at least 10 years before it got sporadic in starting. One hick up I had was finding a couple of screws to fix the pump back to the frame. I ended up using a couple of metal roofing bolts that were of the right diameter but have hexagonal heads: they're a bit big but they do the job. The other thing that caused me a bit of a heart attack for a split second was when I first turned the machine on it just buzzed and nothing happened: the steam pump didn't work. I then tried to pump water and that didn't work either: I had not pushed the water container home properly. When I pushed the container in it worked straight away. I pulled the power lead out of the socket and left it overnight. The next morning the machine started to buzz when plugged the power lead in (I hadn't tried to turn it on at this point): so another mini heart attack. Anyway, I pushed the start button on the machine and it then took a long time for the red light to come on. After a couple of stops and starts and power off's at the power outlet it all became happy. The steam supply is scary it is so strong. The machine is also quiet when in the OFF mode. It sounds like you're from Oz: me too. Thanks again. 😀
Good job Alfred.
paint them works every time
Hey bud, 1, get a go pro w/chest mount 2, are you a licensed type A gas service plumber?
Thanks for the guide! Same fix error code 50 on an old brivis ME 20E outdoor unit. One sensor had build up of what looked like calcium?. Scour did the job 👍
Very helpful. Thanks!
HYUNDAI TUSCON same fucking issue
thank you. It was helfull
Thanks so much for sharing the steam pump repair. I feel confident now I can fix my old machine. It looks a little tricky getting the zip tie on the bottom hose. Can the base be removed for better access?
Thanks
great video. have recently changed my steam pump. It worked for a couple of months and failed. I changed it again and the same thing is happening. I hear the pump working however no steam. I think there is no water getting to the pump perhaps? Do you have any ideas on this?
Maybe a blockage Pete? Disconnect pipes blow out with compressed air perhaps?
I fixed it! You're a lifesaver mate, thank you so much for the help!
Where was error code showing.
the melting can damage the car and make it look nasty........wondering why the car maker don't use silicone
could you swap the pump from the other water tea heating side?
Haaaaaaaaaaa ... wow that's awesome...I'll do mine it's been a pain in the ass xxx
Other videos I've seen suggested sticky goo/glue remover. I tried that but it evaporates and absorbs super fast and you have to use heaps on one section and it's still sticky. I'm going to pick up some of this to try this week 👍
So glad to have found this. Bought a machine off Facebook market place and the steamer didn't work 🙄 so now gotta go through all this haha 😅
where u buy it
i have issues with the steamer I assume its the other pump to be replaced although it seems the issue is the pipe is clogged
Nice one
Damn and I thought my 2009 Toyota Camry was bad!! That's awful! These damn car companies should have stepped up to fix this crap!
Hi Do you know how to take off the steam control dial knob.
Yew coll thet a noyf?
It's all over my dash and its gray not black.
I didn't think they had these when you were young, but you can't fool me, you are Paul Hogan, right, the voice gives it away and I didn't know you had these skills, impressive.
You're on to me Phil you old trendsetter.
All BMWs need this love lol Thanks
My sunbeam em6910 Cafe series is 11 years old and it still has all the original water and steam pumps in it.
Thanks mate! I relate to "Aussie handyman that'll have a go". Has it worked well since?
Steve was it was perfect after its heart transplant 👌
Flock it may be neat .crap in bottom of draws jewellery box's fealty fuzzy stuff
I have Krups Siziliana coffee machine. On this machine hot water and steam go through the same pipe, when I accsidentally tried to use steam before the machine heated up enough. Now i can only heard the pump inside, but no water or steam are going out. Do you know how to fix it?
Thanks so much for this video. My new steam pump is in transit so it’s great that I’ll have this video to follow (parts still available on eBay). Hasn’t skipped a beat in 8 years so hope that this repair will get me a few more years yet! Thanks again ☕️👍
Arm & Hammer washing soda works.
Fantastic! Great instructions, simple to follow and excellent result... saved me siting a new unit!
Thanks - it's nice to know what the repair tech will be doing when I wimp out and take it in. 🤣🤣🤣
Lovely job, the heat and humidity is not kind to my VW's interior. All my radio knobs have gone sticky like my Beetle's dashboard did.
this kinda helped but I think the car is too far gone so I have tried everything and nothing has gotten rid of the sticky crap so we are going to have to buy a cover
this didn’t work for me :( my dash is still sticky.
Thanks 👍💪👌
Thank you so much for your suggestion! I hope it works!
Worked beautifully for me on my 2008 Toyota Camry. Thank you!
mine didn't work still so sticky I think this dash board is too far gone we are gonna have to get a cover :(
can you remove the main pump without drilling out the rivets, since the bracket is made from rubber, maybe you can wriggle it out after pulling out the bottom tube?
