How I build hinges!
Please note I am not a professional, but this is how I have settled on building hinges. In this video I use silver scrap pieces to demonstrate my personal steps, and I keep calling calipers “micrometers” so, sorry 😂

    "Keep in mind that I am not [a] professional." What? You've been in business for years. Why so self-deprecating? Roberta, you know what you're doing! 😅❤ Tip: Run a graphite lead (pencil lead) through your hinges while soldering. Result: No issues with "wonky"!

    Miraculously I just gave this technique a "good guess" on a pair of earrings i made and I see I was correct! Yay for me (for once!) Lol. Now I know that I probably should use my chip solder for this 😆. It's all good though. I would like to know if you could show us how to solder an edge if braided wire to the end of a ring. Its been driving me insane and now I have solder all over the ring shank! 😂 Thank you!

    Roberta can you use that copper "tape" to remove the solder? I just found out that stuff exists so i was curious if you have ever used it and is it safe to use on silver too even though it's a copper tape?

    • @robertapihl76
      @robertapihl76 6 месяцев назад

      Honestly I haven’t tried it, myself! I think for me the best practice is to always start with less solder because it’s just easier to add than take it away, but if you think it’s worth trying out, give it a go! Be brave and experiment! Then maybe let me Know how it works because I make mistakes too *giggles!* 💕

    I taught myself how to solder and I have had a lot of learning mistakes on my curve and you explain things so easily that I have learned so much just from the few videos I've watched so far. Thank you so much for your easy application and instruction. I have so much paste solder and I get it everywhere and then nothing sticks and I end up having to pickle it and scrub it and start all over. I feel like hugging you I am so happy that I have figured out the things that have been puzzling me for so long. I have ADHD really bad so it's hard for me to pay attention to most RUclips tutorials and yours have been not only the best but the easiest to follow so far. Thank you so much for your videos.
