The MN Scale Modeler RUclips channel is a place devoted to scale model builds and build photography. On this channel, I share overviews of my projects as well as photos of completed kits. I am also the "curator" of the Minnesota Virtual Military Vehicle Museum, an online depository of scale model military vehicles and aircraft. Check it out at www.mnscalemodeler.net or the link below.
If you are interested in following future projects featured in these videos, head over to Facebook and like my page at mnscalemodeler or the link below.
If you would like to learn more about scale model photography, I've produced an ebook that will take you from the basics of camera exposure, equipment setup and usage, scale model composition, and even has several case studies that will take you through every step to create some typical scale model photographs. You can learn more about the book at www.scalephotography.com or the link below.

Overview of the process of assembling, painting, and weathering the Asuka 1/35 scale M4A3(76)W Sherman. This is also not built to represent the subject during WWII. It represents a display version or one in the process of restoration. Finally, sorry about the music! It's a bit obnoxious! Overview of the process of assembling, painting, and weathering a 1/35 M2 Half Track from WWII. This is not a step-by-step instructional video...just an overview of the main steps involved. This build was done to represent an older halftrack that had been abandoned and was in the process of restoration. I did not mention that some minor filtering was done during the weathering. Very nice work.
i’m still confused on how you did the chipping so you put on the black primer and then hairspray and then painted or did you only put hairspray on the are you wanted to be chipped and what hair spray can i use
Really nailed the Tamiya Panther D. The 3 color camouflage scheme turned out perfect and the weathered look is impressive
While i have been using Tamiya Field Grey for the green on my tri colour panzers that Wood Deck Tan and the Flat Earth looks great for a more toned down weathered look for the dunkelgelb and rotbraun. Will be trying them out on my next paint job
I purchased 2 different Takom WW1 kits, and both were not good builds. Too many gaps that were too big for putty to fill. I've switched to other companies for my hobby, AFV Club, Meng, among others.
Wow, great work. What color/paint did you use for the chipping? Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I can’t remember off the top of- of my head but I believe it was a "homemade" gray color that resembles steel with a bit of Tamiya hull red.
Very nice video and build, why did you use the late type tracks?
Honestly can’t remember! Lol! I think it was because they were available.
What chipping colour did you use?
Awesome! Do the tracks move?
are you still building ? like your stiff thanks
You forgot the weathering of front wheels, and to detail the engine.
please stop the music
Dang I just got this today, looks like there's a lot to get...
I am looking for the Model kit that you used mainly to recreate Humvee overseas.
🤝🎥👍
I really want this kit but it's discontinued.
Beautiful!!!
Novice modeller here. Question how come you used black as the color for priming? Why not use white? Love your job btw - looks so good i think it would pass for the real thing in a photo.
Fantastic job !Thanks for posting this information. Take good care of yourself and stay safe.
I was a tank mechanic in the Marines years ago. Your attention to detail is on point. I plan to put one of these together as well in the future.
Great job on the build, but what impressed me most is the video. Very nice, very pro.
How did you do remove the top coat of paint for the chipping effect?
If you're using chipping fluid or hairspray, all you need is a wet brush and just lightly rub at the top layer until you see a bit of the bottom layer
I never understood "chipping" or why it was used. I usually just paint the primary color of the vehicle (in this case desert yellow) as the base coat. I then dry and semi-dry brushed the "chips" in the dark grey, rust and silver. Same thing for the tracks. Gunmetal over the whole track, flat black over the pads, rust over and mud over the metal parts, then some silver over the fresh wear.
Very clean and nice build! This post is from 2 years ago hope new post coming out, really enjoy your video, thanks.
Today I just bought a Tamiya 35269, and found the cupola windows were NOT pre-cut, which is different from the Leopord2A6 I bought 11-12years ago. (I bought two Leopoard 2A6 in 2010 and 2011), don't understand why Tamiya doesn't continue their design. Is there any special tool helps cutting these cupola windows precisely?
Nice build👍
Hello, 'MN Scale Modeler', I enjoyed seeing how your tank was weathered, but how is that 'Hairspray' technique done??? I understand how that rust was applied in different shades and its purpose, and the NATO colors added after that was done, BUT what did you do After the rust was applied, hairspray and NATO colors were added, I see that you used acrylic paints, but what happened after the paint job?? Again, Thanks for posting and look forward to your response.
Definetaly looks like "out of action" vehicle. Super impressive paintjob. Subscribed.
Bonjour belle réalisation votre chipping et aux sel ou avec des produits spécifiques pour maquette ?? Merci de votre réponse Gégé 62 👍👍😉
I don't think it gets better than this.
Thanks!
Masterpiece.
Very well done! 👍
Thanks!
Awesome, love it👍
Wow, that paint and weathering is perfection.
I have the M1A2 1/48 scale Tamiya model Im getting ready to do. I love how you did all these details, makes me nervous being my first model in a long time lol. amazing job.
Thanks!
Two Commanders of F Troop, 2-3 ACR were killed in during Operation Iraqi Freedom - CPT Joshua Byers, Troop Commander, Fox Troop, 2nd Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, CO. KIA on July 23, 2003, Ramadi, Iraq, USMA Class of 1996 and CPT Torre Mallard, Troop Commander, F Troop, 2nd Squadron, 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, TX. KIA on 10 March 2008, Balad Ruz, Iraq, USMA Class of 2002. This tank was assigned to their 4th Platoon. I think the bumper number should be F66 (Commanders Tank) in their honor. Brave Rifles!
Impressive!!
Extremely beautiful!
Your job is spectacular!
Very nice!
Perfect!!

Hello everyone, I recently bought some add ons for the M1A1 Abrams kit (M1A1 Abrams Accessory Set) , from a company called Legend. It's stuff to be added on the tank, such as barrels, crates, backpacks and so on. Problem is I don't understand how to separate the items from the sprue, since the sprue is incredibly though and thick. Can anyone help me with a suggestion? Many thanks.
Love it , so realistic .What kind of pigments have you used Thanks
Inspirational

GREAT job, I have this kit and the one from Takom. I can only image looking at one of these thru the sights of a Sherman. PANTS crapping time.
Nice job! The Bob Ross oilpaint. lol
Просто без излишеств но в точку
Excellent job! I saw a guy use pieces of a CD for the cupola windows.
