Documenting the sets of Britain's favourite television programmes.
Coronation Street | Abandoned studios (extra footage)
Filmed in 2018, this video documents parts of the now-demolished old Coronation Street set that were not included in the original 2017 video. It was filmed at night so apologies for the darkness in parts.

Hey how did you manage to get into? Two times i stood in front of the "no thorough street" and returned with my rental car :D Was this an Approved visit or did you invited you yourself? Greetings from an "ibes" ethusiast from Germany and thanks for the insights!
Haha, I know the spot. I invited myself 👀 Glad this is of interest to IBES fans - thanks for watching :)
Thanks for this! Very interesting. You'll have walked some of the Corridors here of the real Corrie icons like Pat Phoenix, Violent Carson, Doris Speed, Lynne Perrie, Julie Goodyear, Liz dawn.. Nobody will get to do that ever again.
Is this old ...has all of this not been demolished
Yes, although The Stables building which housed the sets shown in this video is fortunately still standing. It's since been stripped of all Granada/Corrie remains though.
Thanks so much for this, it will all be gone one day!
Thanks for taking the time to film this and post it. I was there in 2014 I think for the one of the final tours of the old set. Inceridibly sad to see how it's looking so derelect in your footage. I noticed the post box lying on the ground towards the end of the video. Where was this in relation to its original postion outside the Kabin? I wonder what happened to this box? Do you know? The new set got the same identical type of post box and it's originally from St Anne's PO in Lytham St.Annes. The box in the new set still has the post box number of FY8 4 on its plate.
Hey, sorry - I wrote a long reply to this but it seemingly didn't send! In a nutshell: the postbox ended up on Kev's garage floor. After that building was demolished, it was left lying nearby as seen in the footage - roughly where the back gardens were. I imagine it ended up in the skip, but may be wrong! Interesting re the new postbox. You can actually see its removal from outside St Annes PO in Google Street View :) The old one was from Stockport... I guess they just salvage them from wherever they're being removed.
They should have done tours
Should have been kept good as they could have used it for tour like another soap!
i love this truly inspiring and the edits with the scenes really helps to captivate the wonderful moments created within the set all those years. :)
tysm ☺️
When coronation Street was worth watching
EastEnders 1985-2025
Wonder who the red pilor post box is, as just post is valuable before starting to stick the one off Coronation Street, and its one that all the classic street characters have interacted with while filming the show?
Sure is. It lay on the garage floor for a while but looks like it probably ended up in the skip, unless someone saved it!
Of course this is only the outside set, this is why the new set had to be build fairly close to this one, as all the inside shots are done inside a studio/soundstage.
Why didn’t they have the studios in the buildings themselves instead of it just being hollow inside? Surely that would be easier for them.
@@underneonloneliness2 much easier to work in. you forget how much space is needed for the camera and crew to make each shot. Film/TV is almost never shot chronologically its filmed in the best order for access to actors and loctions. So a here a weeks worth of episodes can be filmed in a single day in that particular set, similar for outside shots, its more complex need more background actors and would be wrapped up in a day.
Visited the old Granda set before it moved. Whilst stood gawping outside, we saw 'Cilla' walking towards the studio, passed right by us and had a gorgeous perfume on! Then about 5 minutes later, 'Tommy' exited the 'Street'. They were the only 2 actors we saw. 😊
They could, have done something with the Street, instead of Pulling it Down, Stephen.
So presumably this is usually under heavy guard? As I would thought hardcore fans would have stripped it all apart by now!😱
It's since been demolished but I'm sure there's bits of it floating around 😆
Shouldn’t have survived the fire, conversation to flats, as not enough trade in the square, I remember the pub in the Ridley Road market at Dalston becoming a food outlet, or demolished for flats. As for the Woolpack, again not enough trade to survive, a flat conversation or rebuilding after a plane crash. The Rovers was and still is a back street pub in a working class area, that should have been condemned, it and street should have been ripped up years ago.
Get owt of my pub,,,wonder what ghosts are hanging about there at night den peggy frank ?
At first I thought was camera guys talking then I realised it was the voices of the old cast 😂
It looks fitting for the age we currently live in - welcome to post Brexit/Tory Britain. They've left the country in tatters.
You ain't my muva!
"Yes I am!!!"
How can they leave it just like this
It got knocked down in 2019 :)
You forgot to include Jack & Vera.
I wonder if the Vic is open as a pub in real life?
Sadly not - the building has since been demolished :(
I went there in 2023 and i couldn't believe how small it was. It's now a carpark with only the community center building still standing and the red brick embankment. The backdrop picture of the next street is also still there although now faded.
Same! The former medical centre building is a Victorian stables block which also housed the hospital set and some prison sets too. Hopefully it will remain there for a long time to come.
Why do things and places like these have to go to waste?! they should be maintained everytime to try and stop them from going down hill like this
Yeah it's a shame, although admittedly I do quite like the decay 🫢
What a crap show proper boring sad rubbish eastenders only for sad people
The whole site was sold to a developer and it was pulled down and was not abandon?
Pretty sure it was all torn down with granada studio tours all gone to redevelopment
Yep all gone now!
So much years of character, its a shame its been left for nature to take hold.
I loved watching this, me and my partner have been watching corrie from the very start recently and it makes me emotional seeing all the history and iconic scenes that have been filmed here and the history that was made, stan & hilda, jack & Vera, bet lynch and all the icons. Lucky enough to visit this set years back and wish I could of understand back then it's importance to my mums generation. Such a comfort to go back and revisit old episodes
The very start? That's gonna be one hell of a watch
Agreed, love watching old episodes!
Remember going to the tour when it was here
Is it still there
Long gone, Lucy - sorry. Was demolished in 2018
would make a great walking dead scene....last time i saw walking dead Daryl n Carol were making there way through the channel tunnel
I went on the coronation street tour back in about 1998 stan ogdens grave was there
Yeah, just behind the bookies as you first enter I think? Judy Mallett's one was still floating around when the set was abandoned too - it was real stone (like Stan's I think) so wouldn't have been easy for someone to just 'walk off' with... makes me wonder where the headstones are now!
@hardcoresetscom thank you I thought I imagined it
shame they have abandoned this it's television history that was made there, they could have turned it into a museum with wax works from Tussauds also a television theme park.
They tried a TV theme park in the 90s but it failed. Agreed though - it is a shame 🥹
I'm astounded as to much has been wasted and left behind, especially as the BBC makes YOU pay for all of this stuff!
Not me
This was brilliant very nostalgic 😢😊❤ thanks for taking the time...all the old characters...Alfie Roberts...takes me back to happier times when mum and dad were younger and mum wasnt ill ❤
Thanks Pauline... same here! Good times watching Corrie with my mum 😊
HOLLY SHIT!!!! It didnt look like this when I drove my truck down there :S
When? Why? How?!
They should film the next THE LAST OF US zombie apocalypse series/show here ! ;)
Quick question! When did this set last get used? I just stumbled across your channel and will be subscribing because I love looking at sets! Thank you for the video 😊
Hey thanks, I appreciate that 🙂 This is the current I'm A Celeb set, last used a few weeks ago and soon to be used for the German series next month!
@ thank you …wow in certain parts it looks really bad like it’s been abandoned for a while.
And the best actor award go's to, the doors and windows, with cameo's from the shrubs and bushes.
Not to spoil things, but the actual interiors of the houses were prop sets based in the adjacent Studio 1 block.
That's right - along with Stage 2 on the other side. A few interiors were/are on the street itself though (e.g. the bookies set) as I'm sure you know :)
The upstairs rooms over the houses were used as production offices / Meeting offices. Occasionally, one of the actors would stick their heads out of an upstairs window to give the illusion they were in the bedroom.
I think the voiceover with Liz and Jim was from the episode where Jim kicked Vernon's head in ( So he did ).
That's the one, so it is
thats really sad to watch.thinking about all the famous people that worked on that famous street over the years from betty turpin, to albert tatlock, to bet lynch.its even sadder for me as ive been there when granda did studio tours.time moves on i suppose.
Sad how it was all just left to rot😢
its really very sad to see it like that.
Shame its abandoned 😞
Yeah, most of it long gone now :(
You can really feel the history of this set, shame the BBC had to waste the public's money demolishing it just to rebuild it.
Amazing video. Was the bridge that they walk over to meet family and have pics there?
Thanks :) Yes - I didn't go over to it but you can see it in the background (centre frame) at around 1:20 👍
It's built on the old Brookside parade shops set in Childwall liverpool
