Never saw cruise speed, weights, etc.
My dad used to fly in to pick me up to spend summers with him. I grew up in Cedar Key in the 70s and 80s. ❤
Probably would have made 12,000 easily with one person on board.
I was cracking up at your Suwannee voice. You sounded another 30-40 years older. Only thing you were missing was a fat chew.
Like for the pup!
As a kid I always thought they were ugly! But I have grown to love the little buggers!
Absolutely love the ERCoupe! I sincerely hope to own one soon.
Also get your dog some real high quality ear muffs.
You should land and let him do his business every couple of hours.
Very cool 🎉Ihave a newly refurbished 415E with 100 hours in it. ILL have to try that out on my next x country.😂😂 bringing some OX and gloves
you did this in daylight? omg!
an airplane has a rudder. you usually can show someone your IQ with the fingers of ONE hand if you paid good money for one. your CFI brother in law should tell you 10,000 yes that's ten thousand hours boring holes in the sky having fun is NOT going to get you hired to fly by ANYONE! he should know there are only 2 routes to any decent job flying airplanes, the military or CFI period. this is for about 97% of pilots. a few folks might know somebody who can help them. how do you plan on going past private pilot in that POS? answer you can't. this aircraft is not adequate for instrument training even. it also does not meet the requirements for even commercial certificate. not to mention that NOBODY is going to hire you without several hundred hours of multi engine time. so all you are ever going to be able to do in that junker is burn expensive avgas boring holes in the sky for nothing. your plan is ridiculously stupid whatever you spent for that thing is down the toilet! i'm sick of all of you dufus morons raving about your POS pile of junk ercoupes. i wouldn't be seen even near one in daylight hours!
So, it kept going up because you were burning off fuel weight, I suppose, despite the crazy low rate of climb at lower altitudes.
Had to throw a “like” after pup got a bite of sandwich.
Awesome video bro, I am motivated to take that same route. Ain't nothing like owning your own plane and flying whenever you want to. Gaining experience, being safe and having a good time 😏
I would love to have one, but I like a high wing than a low wing. So 150 is my dream or a ercoupe would do. You did good you are living your dream. I am only wishing mine.
Nice Ercoupe. Do you have the original linked control system or has it been converted to 3 axis?
@risingsun_ >>> Great video...👍
Great video...👍
Bye Bye, Little 'Coupe.
Starting at about 01:08 in this video: You managed to catch the shadow of your 'Coupe during climbout in the video...👍
FWIW: I have been living in North Carolina since the mid-1990s, but I was born and raised in St. Petersburg. My first full-time job, 1979-1980, was working the Line Crew at an FBO at Albert Whitted Airport in St. Pete. *_"Seems a thousand centuries ago."_* - APOCALYPSE NOW [1979]
*I ❤️ AIRCOUPES/ERCOUPES*
Great video...👍
I trained in serval planes & the Cessna 150 was the easter to fly.
I never flown in a ercoupe.
Get a Cessna 150.
I want one!!
Nice video. I bought a C150J for 30k. Spent 30k to get it fixed up and IFR capable. The GNX375 and GI275 cost me 13k. I have been flying it (N5523G)a ton to build time. Just got my commercial checkride passed. Going for my multi next. Currently at 750 hrs. Looks like we're doing the same stuff. Good luck to you.
Sounds like you’re knocking it out! You’ll be at 1500 in no time!
do a video on your panel. im fixing to do gps and g5s in mine
@@chase2028 unfortunately I got busy flying and now I’m done with the 150 and it’s up for sale
Do you mind sharing the cost to your panel upgrade? I kinda want to do something similar to my 150
Thanks great video.
Are they considered a Light Sport aircraft?
Depends on the ercoupe model. Mine was LSA
100% agree with your thought process. Unfortunately, I decided to go dumb. I will not be going to the airlines, but my son plansto. So really, our mission was twofold. Pleasure flying for me and time building for him. Enter the 1959 Piper Comanche 250. Not exactly a low per hour cost. But it will give him a ton of time in complex and high-performance. And it’s freaking awesome to fly. More importantly, however, we have an absolute amazing time. When it’s not down for maintenance, of course lol. Thoroughly enjoying your channel. I am obsessed with the Ercoupe. Unfortunately, at 6‘3“ and north of 250 pounds, the Ercoupe is a bit cramped for myself. Though I dream of flying one someday.
The Comanche is a great plane. I’ve got a lot of time in the twin Comanche. Sounds like you’re having fun with yours
Obsessed with the Ercoupe. Don’t really know why. But what a beautiful example you have!
In a hunt for a plane to time build. Do you have any recs? Looking to keep it under $50000 and want it to be IFR capable. Congrats on hitting ATP MINS!
The Ercoup is on my short list of two-seaters. I was just curious as to how it was for cross country flying with two adults. What is your typical range with day VFR reserve?
It’s definitely cozy, if you’re not on the slimmer side it can be a squeeze. 3 hrs with VFR reserves was easy
... why not be a fan of Pipers ? He probably meant, not-yet, a fan of Piper aircrafts :).
Thumbs down 👎🏽 for the dude screaming all throughout the video. Other than that nice landing, great video.
Congratulations !! I had 415-C N94369. So close to your number. Great bird. Unfortunately, the guy I sold it to flew it into the side of a mountain. So sad for him and my bird. Be safe and have fun from Cali.
Had to go to minimums on that one. Ain’t a coupe, but still fun !
Did you ever get your ATP?
At 1500, atp/ctp course done, just waiting on a class date
Congratulations brother. That is a HUGE accomplishment!!
Thanks! I plan to make a video soon to update
Still making that video?? Lol
got mine to 13,000 but it was early November and it was cold as I was in Portland OR, I topped out as I passed Mt Hood
Hey Mitch, did you get your commercial rating yet? I really like your videos and I've always been a fan of the Ercoupe. Did you sell the plane, and if so, what are you flying theses days?
I’ve got newer videos updating on planes and ratings but yes I’m commercial single and multi rated. Flying a twin Comanche and c150 these days
Yep. I did the same thing with mine. Yes they will do it. I have the 75 upgraded to 85 too. What you didn't cover is what happens to the crankcase temperature gage when you throttle back for descent. Did you look? I did and it scared the crap out of me. Started dropping faster than a clock second hand. I didn't want to trash my low time engine with massive thermal shock, so I reverted to decending 500ft intervals at a time and throttling back up for awhile to get it above 100F. I hope you saw that and took action. It took me longer to get down than get up there. I wouldn't do it too much if you want to get good life from that little Continental! There ain't no cowl flaps on am Ercoupe!
traitor
i only like the 150s when converted to a tail dragger, might think on it, kind of a waste of wing design with the crappy landing gear it decided on
i like high wings only when doubled lol
Great vid! I like the back seat!
So how do you place the ercoupe in a crab landing without foot pedals?
You land crabbed and you touch the upwind main first. It was designed to self correct on the ground. I’ve personally landed in a 30kt direct crosswind with no issue
Now, it's time for insulation and an interior makeover.
I got Cedar Key mixed up with a another short runway in the Fl. Keys. I have never been to Cedar Key. Sorry
