nice overview!
hey Matt, I'm 5 foot 7 and have 170cm skis that have a turn radius of 21m. I would say I am a good skier and know how to ski well. Do you think this is good for all terrain?
I own a pair of these and I can not recommend them higher. I ski in jackson hole each winter and usually get in 100+ days a season and these were my daily driver for sure. They aren’t incredible at top speeds they do begin to chatter but they still carve really well at those high speeds imo. I found with the fat shovels at the front, if you get into the off piste a little bit and say there’s maybe 2 to 3 inches of snow on the ground they actually do pretty incredible. It’s hard to describe but that edge still cuts super hard on the bottom hard pack, but you get a little float out of those shovels too. They are super playful and incredible hard carvers especially at medium speeds. I run the 184 and I’m 6’4 200 pounds so it is a bit small for me. But to be honest the way they ski it’s actually a really nice size. I’d ideally take longer if they had the option. but for the kind of skiing they offer, running a bit shorter seems to work for me. But to make things simple this is a ski completely different to anything on the market. And if your ski style is anything like mine, tight sweeping turns but loves taking those side hits and rollers, absolutely get yourself a pair of these. They are expensive but my goodness are they worth it. Oh final note, I probably have 45 days on my pair and the fish tails did begin to separate a little bit. I used super glue and clamps to fix it and it seems to have done the job fine, and as far as the rest of the ski, it hasn’t really clapped out at all. Still rides like day one . If anyone has any questions and is looking into getting themselves a pair just reply to this comment and I can give my two cents.
Thanks for the review!
Hi great honest review Off piste say 6 inches of fresh snow Would they cope? Iam 5.10 170 lb which length would you recommend Many thanks
@@Simon-jp7wg they might start to sink a little too much in 6 inches of powder. I can’t say for sure, I haven’t skied them enough in deeper snow like that, but the shovel on the front I think is 145mm wide. Something like that. So you will definitely see some flotation but, again it’s really under your foot that gets important, 87mm just isn’t enough to keep you above the snow unless you really try and get some speed behind you. I’d recommend 178cm hight. I believe that’s the next size down from the 184 I ride. That might feel a bit too long but just remember they are twin tipped so they ride a bit shorter than they actually look.
WOOOOW😍
Great review How does it perform in the off piste big soft moguls found on the steeps after a pow day ? Thanks !
The Navis Freebird is a super versatile ski, it's going to come in a little lighter as it's a touring ski but will still perform really well off piste after a big dump!
I love skiing trees and want a good pop in my ski. Realistically i mostly ski groomers and park with some ice in their (midwest skier). Was looking at these skis -black crow captis -mirus cors -faction prodigy 1s -Armada ARV 96 what do you think would be best for me?
I have been told by many people that the mirus cor shouldn't be the pair of skis to own as your only pair of skis. But if I decide to buy the skis it will actually be my first and only pair of skis. But my idea is to buy the mirus cor this winter and use it as my piste ski and partly as a parkski. And maybe use it a little bit outside of the pist this year, but then next year I would buy a 100% freeride ski. What do you think of that combanation?
We agree, the mirus cor isn't your typical 'one ski quiver' ski. That being said, if you're using it primarily on groomers and looking for something playful, it will definitely perform well!
@@monodsports thank you for answering. So do you think it will be a good solution to buy the mirus cor as my piste ski and also use it in the park. And then buy a second pair to use in the off piste and in deep powder?
@@monodsports btw, I really like to ski with a lot of playfulness
@@bertramjuelsgaard9029 Yes, I think if you are skiing a variety of terrain and have the option to build a quiver, the Mirus Cor will complement your needs for the piste.
Can't hear you with the background music
Appreciate the feedback!
Nice review, bought yesterday 🏔 🎉 ! Let’s see tomorrow in Courmayeur…. 😅
Hey Alessandro! Thanks for leaving a comment, that's great. Enjoy! 🎿
title is using "Collection" is the 116c out of the collection?
Hey Andreas, the 116c is in the Mindbender collection. It features spectral braid technology similar to the 106c, we just didn't feature it in this video!
😠 𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔪𝔬𝔰𝔪
Hey 👋 im 6.4 and interested in this Skin. I have been skiing for about 12 years now mostly only 1-2 weeks every year. I am mainly on the piste but want the versatility to go everywhere. And yeah I mostly don’t go full send. Should I go for the 183 or 189? Thank you
95kg
@@Sledhammer69 With the information you provided, we think the 183cm would be the better ski for you. The reason being that that the 183cm will be easier to ski but still retain that awesome performance the ski has where as the the 189cm will want to charge and may be harder to control. Considering you plan on maybe taking the ski anywhere on the mountain, having that short length will just make turning that much easier if you ever find yourself in tight situations.
@@monodsports Thank you so much for the reply and the great video :)
@@Sledhammer69 That was good advice above and I think the 183cm would be fun and maneuverable, to my surprise the 189cm is easy turn at low speed. I just bought these last week, I'm 6'-3" and I'm so happy I went with this length. They feel stable on afternoon chop and so good on fresh groom and powder. We've had some great condition these past few days in the PNW (USA).
@@ljshoreslokal I went with the 189 version aswell . Had so much fun with them the last couple of weeks the qst 98 are 10/10 for me
J’adore
For a 25 years old male 179 cm and 70 kg who likes carving and a little bit au fun in the pow once in a while, would you recommend 176 or 183 cm? Thanks so much!
Considering the amount of tail and tip rocker on this ski, we’d recommend the 183cm!
Hi! What size would you recommend to a 181cm advance/intermediate skier (28yo and fit)? 176 or 183? I´m also between this ski and the Line Vision 98. What do you think that are the main differences? Cheers from Spain!!
I would think the 176cm might not be enough ski for you. Because of it's deep rocker lines in the tip and tail, the ski actually feels shorter then what it really is when put on edge so the 183cm might make more sense. We don't carry the Vision 98 but from a bit of research, its lightweight build will definitely have a more playful side to it. The QST 98 can totally be thrown around in creative ways because of it's modern shape, but with a ski as light at the Vision, you're going to find it easier to bounce around on it.
Awesome review! Great work on all the vids.
Great review! The background music was a bit loud/overpowering and drowned out some of your commentary. Otherwise excellent. Thanks for making it :)
What?
I live in British Columbia and am looking to the Armada Declivity 102 and the atomic maverick 100 and the faction agent 3.0. I will put my rottefella NTN bindings on as I telemark but only ski groomers and glades as I don't do backcountry any more. Which of these three do you recommend for a senior advanced skier 180 ht and 70kg?
Loud music, poor articulation, impossible to understand
Nice Ski. Thinking about upgrading to this from my Deacon 84's with Marker Lowride Bindings. I would put the Look Pivot Bindings on this Ski. Do you recommend?
Don't see why not! The Look Pivot is a great versatile binding and would pair amazingly with the M6 from Volkl.
@@monodsports think it's an overall better setup/performance/versital over the Deacon 84s?
God that background music annoying.
Im looking for a do it all, fun and playful touring option, that still can charge quite hard. I know this is in the arw range, but the flex pattern numbers on Armadas website indicates that it will be quite stiff. Im 187 cm, 83 kg (6ft 2in, 183 pounds), and like to ski quite hard, but playful. There is def not a lot of playful twintips, around 105mm waist, under 2000 grams, so this ski really caught my interest. Will this be enough ski for me, and do you know if the 188 cm will come in under 2000 grams? Also, do you know if the "smear tech" tips will affect the plastic tips that G3 skins have?
From the info you provided, it seems like the ARW 106 might not be enough ski for you. It would be a great touring ski for soft snow with less charging intentions. With that said we’d recommend checking out the ARV 106 or the Whitewalker as these will definitely be more “hard charging” skis. As for the smear tech interfering with skins, we always like to recommend twin tip connectors for any twin tip skis for the best performance! We just tried it and you can definitely clip it on, but we can see it sliding off pretty easily.
any suggestion for bindings with these?
Really depends on how you'll ski it but a Marker Griffon or Salomon STH would be amazing for resort with freeride intentions or a Shift would be great option if you plan on heading into the back country!
great video! i just got these for this season i demoed the atris last season and loved them.
Hi I am an intermediate/advanced skier, male 181 cm and would like an all mountain ski (powder, resort and park), would you recommend this for me? or i should get others. Thanks very much
This ski excels in all of those categories you listed and really that's probably what it was designed for. We'd recommend going with the 180cm if you're leaning more on the freestyle/park riding side or the 188cm if you're really after an all-mountain charger. A great option nonetheless!
I guess spruce is endangered.
Nice summary, well done. One thing i want to mention is that the background music is tuned so high, it almost becomes the foreground play and it felt difficult at times to focus on the spoken word. I'd recommend tuning it down a bit :)
👏👏👏
Thanks for that! Would you still consider it an all mountain charger? Looking for a ski that can go everything at high speed (groomers, crud etc).
Absolutely! This ski was built with that in mind and really caters to someone who is looking to ride all kinds of conditions. We would even consider the 108 version if you plan on hitting more softer snow but still want something that can rip the front side.
@@monodsports Thanks for that, I haven't really consider the 108 tbh, as I don't think I ski enough deep snow. I'd say I ski 50groomers, 40 crud/soft, 10 deepish snow. I ski in Switzerland (Zermatt/Porte du soleil). My current day to day are Candide's 2.0 but I don't do much park anymore and I like to ski fast. 2.0 are still great, but I'm really curious about a real charger, stiffer, with metal constructions. Still considering if it's worth buying hehe
